If you bothered looking this up on wowhead, you deserve to know this little secret. Just a fun thing, but do add this line in your mount up macro or something else that you clicky a lot..

/use extra-dimensional ghost revealer

On a side note do also add /cast water shield or /cast trueshot aura or anything else that you refresh a lot, this is especially useful for pvp. It'll save you some of the pain of refreshing your self buff or ability of choice and even though global cooldown may apply, you won't be 'disturbed' and will still be mounting up. I advice using an addon called 'Errormonster' or anything else that blocks all the red 'ability not ready yet' spam.

Here's my current mount-up macro, for the record:

In order to get this item, you have to go to Ironforge and get the "An Earnest Proposition" quest from Deliana. You do that quest, and she will open up a whole line of quests to gather the materials etc, for Mux Manascrambler to make the ghost revealer. Doing these quests will be a lot of work and even cost lots of gold, but it's still fun and should count towards loremaster as well.

After several months of this sitting in my log ( Anthion's Strange Request) and already achieving Loremaster, I gathered the mats and went back to Mux for another unit. He has nothing for me.

So, if you want to keep the item, then I guess you shouldn't turn it in to the questgiver Deliana or Mokvar, since it disappears from your inventory if you complete the "Return to ____" quest, and you can't seem to get them to give it back.

Don't you actually get this "back" from the girl in Ironforge waiting to see the King? It's possible that when you delete the item (and of course the quest related if you still have it) you have to go back to HER to get the item again, since she is actually the one that gives it to you for the next step in the quest. Unless of course you haven't turned it into her yet, which means you probably have to go to Tanaris to pick it up. Not positive on this but worth a try for anyone trying to grab this item again. Sorry I'm not willing to test it :)

so, this may or may not be useful info... but since this is pre-WotLK, a DK cannot get these quests :( I just spent an hour back-tracking quests and info trying to get a Totem of Rebirth only to finally figure this out. on the bright side, at least I couldn't start *any* of the quests - no real time lost doing nothing, after all ;)

While the ghostly quest NPC's from the dungeon tier quests are still visible and accessible with the Extra-Dimensional Ghost Revealer, they no longer continue to offer quests (as the questline was removed), and there do not appear to be any new NPC's that you can see with it. Of course this last statement could prove to be wrong, as this expansion is young, however; considering that the Extra-Dimensional Ghost Revealer is no longer is no longer attainable for new characters, it seems unlikely that Blizzard would add new content for it.

If you completed the steps of the tier 0.5/dungeon set 2 chain needed to construct this prior to Cataclysm, speaking to Mux Manascrambler (located in Tanaris) has a chat option which will allow you to re-obtain this item (as of 4.2.2).

Sekrit and Sekret can be seen in scarlet halls after the second boss. They are in the small side room.

I am in patch 5.2 now. I happened to see the ghost of Franclorn Forgewright in Forgewright's Tomb in Blackrock Mountain when I died. But quest was not given. Then after I did some researches I found no more quest will be given from him...Then I read another forum thread that I need to have an item for Extra-dememsional Ghost Revealer to get quests from NPC Bodley who happened be in the near same area.
I don't have an Extra-dememsional Ghost Revealer so I went to see both NPC Deliana(Ironforge) and NPC Max Manascrambler(Gadgetzun) but no sign of quest or Extra-dememsional Ghost Revealer. Is that mean... I can not get quests from ghost NPC in Blackrock Mountain anymore? I fee a little disappointment for missing excitements from quests...

Neither Sammy nor Melia can be seen with this item anymore, although their ghosts can still be heard running around Caer Darrow.

No longer obtainable as of Legion.

Talked to Mux Turbamana in Gadgetzan and he says:
"Greetings, friend! Can I interest you in some ectoplasmic capacitators? Or perhaps a nice omni-directional spectral assimilator?"

Followed by the chat option that you get if you completed In Search of Anthion (Which is no longer available in the game):
"About the ghost revealer. Did i happen to leave it here? I seem to be missing it."

When i pressed the chat option nothing happened, the window just closes.
So i contacted a GM which told me that if you already have the item in your bags you can keep it, but there's no way to get it again even if you completed the quest for it back in vanilla.

That made me sad, it's a flavor item i wish i didn't had destroyed.
