On New Years Eve 2005 Empty Festive Mugs (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21174) were given out in major cities, by clicking on a Festive Keg, you filled your mug and received one of these.

These mugs are generally infinite use(sometimes they empty randomly, so bring a few filled mugs as back-up) for the duration of holiday, and give 30 seconds of slowfall when drank, instant-drink. Which means they can be used for non-stop slowfall. With the Filled Festive Mug, one can get on top of the Ironforge Mountain from the Ironforge Graveyard, and safely float to at least halfway across Wetlands, by drinking the Mug again before the slowfall expires, renewing the slowfall.

The same thing can only be done for jumping of Teldrassil. With it, I was able to jump off Teldrassil from Darnassus, behind the Portal. It works too good even. I was hundreds, maybe thousands of feet up when I got the Fatigue Bar that signifies being over deep water. I had to right-click and remove the Slowfall Buff, and fall into the water(which took a while; Teldrassil is very very tall), and quickly swim back to safe waters, before Fatigue killed me.

These were nerfed this year(Blizzard has a strict stance against any extra little things that make screwing around and having general fun possible) so that when you use them, they become empty.

Combined with the fact that the filled mug is unique, you can't stack a whole bunch of them, meaning you can't do cool things like jumping from Tempest Keep to Hellfire.

Damn I spammed my bugged one, and right as I got a "Received Empty Festive Mug" message I got disconnected. Anyone know an alternative to this? It was a lot of fun with that much slowfall.

I still have mine on my rogue. That's probably due to the fact that my rogue sucks and I can never play her for more than 15 minutes before logging out in disgust.

I've had it going for 3-ish months now. Let's see how long it can last.

EDIT: As of 7/4/09 I still have this on my rogue. The New Years one, not the 4th o' July one. The duration says 0 seconds left.

Well i planned on coming here to comment that this is the best parachute in the game. I picked several up on the last day of the Summer fest. They all seem to be soulbound except one. I also was only able to get one at a time. I'll have to figure out how to stock up. I sent that to my miner and used it a lot. Then it just went empty one day. I am going to try and find another one. This item is about the most useful thing I had lol.

Be careful to notice when it runs out.....I went splat right on top of a Titanium node trying to beat someone else going after it.

I had this in my bag for about 6 months, never used it (in fact, I completely forgot I had it). After reading this page I realized that I HAD to jump off Teldrassil and use the slowfall to avoid dying...after 2 uses, the thing disappeared. So if you've had it for a while, know that it WILL most likely disappear after very few uses, so do something cool with it while you can.

Still have mine on my Hunter as of 8/17/09. I've used it more than a few dozen times by now. It's pretty fun to be used in Wintergrasp (now that you can fly) and AB.

I found a very fun bug with this. I take one filled, and one empty mug in my bags. Somehow when I drink the filled one, it doesn't disappear. Now I've got freefall forever! =P

And it doesn't go away, have it for a few mobths now, and it still works perfectly

No you couldn't have. Fatigue kicks in as soon as you're over deep water, unless you're in a boat. Teldrassil is surrounded by deep water.

The Festive Mug is back, is (so far) not actually unique (I have two in my inventory right now) and seems to have an unknown (random?) number of charges. I've used my first one several times now without it emptying.

I logged in today after 3.3.3 patch and all of the extra Filled Festive Mugs I had stockpiled in my bank are gone!
I have one remaining in my backpack, but I'm assuming once it empties from a few uses it will be gone forever :(

strangest thing ever, today my last mug ran dry while i was farming. i cried about it for a bit and decided i didn't want that empty mug in my inventory laughing in my face so i disposed of it. Later on i port to Org and look in my bag to find a new one? i know for a fact i got rid of mine and that this one just appeared in my bag out of thin air! its awesome but odd too. idk how or why but thank you blizz gods

For the 2010 Midsummer Festival, it appears they may have fixed a lot of the abuse with this item. Fixed earlier in the year, you can no longer mail these mugs. Grabbing multiple filled mugs and logging or porting will remove all mugs except the original. The original still bugs and still has multiple uses, but will still randomly go empty at some point unless you're one of the very lucky players immune from getting an empty.

UPDATE
If you grabbed a ton of these and logged out to have them disappear at that time, they will randomly appear each time you empty one. For example, I stocked a bunch of these in my bank where I used to keep my trinkets. Now when I get an empty, delete it, log out and log back in, one of my trinkets will be in my bag and in its spot in the bank will be a brand new filled festive mug. I've emptied about 5 2010 mugs so far. Your results may vary.

Awesome for level 20+ Horde hunters for getting Ironman achievement. Just 10 easy steps!

1. Grab the flag.
2. Go top of the Alliance "ramp house".
3. Wait someone to get near enough to shoot. (Hardest part)
4. Drink.
5. Shoot him to get you to combat.
6. Turn your back where you want to go.
7. Cast Disengage.
8. Glide.
9. When you land, cast Aspect of the Cheetah or what you need to do to get safely to flag room.
10. Cap.

Edit: Now that we have Goblins: Every Goblin out there can use Rocket Jump.

I only have one and it keeps turning into an empty mug, then a day later i have it back again, at one point i had 4 empty mugs as they kept spawning, then I ended up with a full one again, greatest glitch ever. Never assume its gone, just toss the empties into the bank and wait it out, so much fun.

This year you can have as many Filled Festive Mug as your bagspace allows, but they all will turn to a one single mug after you log out. This also happens to the Mugs you put into the bank.

For all you Alliance kids who can't find the mugs/ chalices - Go to Either Stormwind or Ironforge (Darnassus is optional) and go the Trade District (and/or IF's equivilent) and look for a keg, just next to the keg should be a table with Goblets and Mugs. Simply right click either and fill your Mug/ Goblet and Drink all your troubles away!

I use this at the start of Eye of the Storm when the mages are being stingy with slow fall. The first time I did that I got the Going Down achievement so this is yet another cool use for this item.

~~i was one of the lucky ones where it never dissappered~~. i just grabbed like 20 filled them and put them all in my bank and only one stayed forever. its a pretty sweet idea for battlegrounds like warsong to just drink and float to the field.

edit: i was one who had it forever but it still can go empty! so use wisely!

Take x of them. The next day you will have 1. But every time it empties it will refill x times. Awesome slowfall especially if you are not a mage/priest/engineer.

After all the years you would think blizzard would fix the cups, as of today the unique still doesn't stop you from having more than one.

As well I am able to drink them infinitly still, so don't forget to stock up on them again if you ran out, and happy 4Th of July

Wonderful for us all that this is still working but its not "sometimes infinite" its 100% endless if handled correctly in the gathering. still working out the details on that. can only try 2 times per year. several guildies have had theirs for over 2 years now but recent patches may have removed the chance to make any new ones permanent. will update on the holidays its used.

This item for world pvp and Battlegrounds is basically priceless for all non mages and preists! it fully replaces the need for items like parachute cloak and unlike the many engineer and other items that now have a lockout associated with "rocket effects" this can be cast at any instant.

My guilds on several servers and dozens of toons have now tested this for 2 years and it WILL NOT de-spawn ever if you get it correctly.

EDIT: Also this item remains trade-able forever even after use, so it can be SOLD to other players who failed to gather one at the rare holidays... for infinite slowfall? I don't thinkt 7000-9000g is unreasonable since you lose yours in the sale and the item cant really be "farmed" in quantity (you can obtain a single mug possibly 2 times per year). however you cant really sell it till you are sure yours is permanent, which is why i will update when we figure out the exact procedure. out of 7 characters 4 of mine still have it this many days after new years, im hopeful one was collected right.

Also I have the strangest feeling that the slow fall effect is more effective from this item... the rate of fall seems less than other means. If you consume while mounted, you should get a funny "running on air" animation!

I have 2 mugs for 7 years now. Still works as a slow fall, they never fixed it..

: It's 2018 now, only one of the 2 items still works and it's no longer tradable, not even among my own characters.

Well I was still able to pick up more than 1 empty festive mug during this year's Midsummer Firefest and filled them all. I stopped at 6 and drank them all at once to get 6 of the buffs at once for fun's sake. However either a loading screen or phasing with cross realm to another zone seems to get rid of all but one Filled Festive Mug, but it still stayed after the Firefest ended and after it ran out, another full one appeared in my inventory along with empty one! I might have gotten the full one after a loading screen, but the glitch still works.

I was using mine here and there, jumping short cuts, when it suddenly ran out a few days ago. Thank goodness 4th of July was so close. I'm glad I had it when I REALLY needed it...

I usually have it ready if I happen to fly over Wintergrasp and the damn phasing dismounts you for no reason. It's saved my ass once in a while.

In ICC, I had accidently stayed on the Horde gunship for too long, and didn't jump back in time. By the way, turns out the ship doesn't despawn, it just goes high up and parks itself. I was wondering what I should do, when I remembered I had this bad boy in my bags! I aimed for the Rampart, took a leap of faith and took a drink. Thankfully, it still remained full, because I had to take another drink to get the rest of the way (without dying, that is).

So, don't be an idiot like me and use it helter skelter, or it could run out at the worse moment. Come to think of it, also make sure to jump back to your ship once you win the Gunship battle, that would have been even better. :P

Back when I was fourteen I filled every empty bag and bank slot I had with these a few times over. Now i'm 22 and I still have not run out. Saved my life a hundred times over as well as just added some fun to exploring, Pvp, but down travel time, ect. Just cant activate it while in combat.
Just keep an empty mug on you as well as a full one and it should still work.

If you fill your bags full of these things all but one will vanish when you go through a loading screen but every time your current mug runs out a new one will pop back up. (you can just log out and back in to clear your bag space) If you stored some in the bank be sure to check in there if you don't have one in your bags when you run out.

Quick! They are available on New Year's Eve!

Simply visit a major city of your faction to grab a Festive Mug from a table, which will appear as an Empty Festival Mug in your inventory. Fill it next to the table from a Festive Keg to get a Filled Festive Mug.

Drinking it grants your character 30 seconds of Slowfall called Lightheaded, and the mug is reusable.

What actually happened to the mug:

The item was not unique and it was possible to stockpile it.
When item was changed to being unique, everyone kept the amount of mugs in the inventory database, but the inventory would only display 1 mug.
When used / deleted the next "invisible" item would be pushed to the visible inventory.
For some this looked like the item had multiple charges

If you want this item gone from your inventory, but it constantly reappears you need to deleted it as many times as you have it in your inventory database.

Login character
Delete mug
Relog
Repeat steps 1-3 for the amount of mugs you bought back in the day / until you don't get a new mug. For me it took ~30 relogs.
