I have a level 57 priest alt I've decided to grind lately, and I was looking through my bags when I remembered I got a few guildies to run me through AQ40 awhile back with just a hand full of us (remember this was wrath) and I acquired one of these. Me being a priest, it leads to Gavel of Infinite Wisdom for spriests, or even an mp5 healer mace (or so the comments say at the time). Anyways as of now this has almost no significance, that is unless you love Vanilla and love tracking down pre-bc weps for keep-sakes. Though of all weapons in Vanilla, I doubt this is on the top of your list. I must point out as well that going back now I realize just how ugly and un-matching all of the gear was back then. Yes, now with Cata (but especially in wrath) they copy/pasted a lot of models for most of the gear, but at least it all has the (generally) same color and same look to it. I'll be wearing Robes of the Guardian Saint in 3 levels, but I almost don't want to because it's a bright teal color. If it wasn't for the skanky-look it had on female toons, I doubt anyone would have ever kept this piece.

Once you have completed the quest for your epic weapon, you can still loot another one if it drops - but it is basically trash to you. Should you lose your weapon (or cloak or ring) there are NPCs at the entrance of AQ who will provide a replacement.
