Interestingly, it seems the bag will not drop if you have a Disgusting Oozeling pet summoned. That or I just have the worst possible luck (3 hours of straight killing without a single drop).

I kill some more and see what happens, and post update in a few days.

Apparently you can send these to another character and the contents will change. So if you open one up and there isn't a pet inside, send it to an alt and open it up on that char and you may get lucky.

I can say with a large degree of certainly that Oozing Bags do NOT drop in Western Plaguelands anymore. This is after 4 hours of farming the slimes without a single bag drop (yet three Nature Protection Recipes from the behemoths in that time.)

Felwood is the only place where these definitely drop from what I can tell.

Yeah finaly dropped me a Disgusting Oozeling! :D I farmed for it for a 10 hours+. Killed 660 Oozes in EP, looted 39 bags then dropped me. :D

Interestingly enough, these bags apparently are on a couple of 'tables'. Either that, or I had a glitch, as one slime I killed in EPL dropped two bags at the same time. One contained only money(11s19c), while the other contained money (19s91c) and a bruiseweed.

I got this pet from my very first bag when I had all of two from doing three rounds in the scars in EPL. I had got it right when it turned April 1st so I thought it was some sick joke after my initial reaction.

Though it's flickering is still an issue, I wonder if anyone knows if that has been fixed in the next patch?

I currently seem to get many more bags from the cave in WPL than when I farmed in EPL (In EPL it took me 2 hours to get 5 bags, in WPL it took me 2 hours to get about 15 bags)
It takes about 7 - 10 minutes per run through the cave for me, and I usually get 1 bag per round, occasionally I get 2 or even 3, depending on the amount of Oozes in the cave that have respawned.

Well, i m not a pet collector.The only thing that i m using the disgusting Oozling is for money.I get the first one on 4 hours farming and sell it for 2.7k g.Then i continue farm this little guy and in the forth bag i get a second one which I sold it for 1.5k g.That was 20 min ^^ lucky one!.And then i get again to farm it and it took me 2 hours and finally got it and sell it 1.5k g this too. That makes 5.7k g fir 6 hours and 20 min job. I have to say that is the best way to get money but u have to be lucky like me!Now i m on for the 4th disgusting oozling! Good Luck with finding yours.!

The bags themselves can make incredible money. Simply kill oozes, loot bags, turn off auto loot, see if there's an oozeling inside, and take oozeling out if there is, and sell for 5g each if there isn't. This worked great cuz not only will i (not found an oozeling yet) make 1.5k gold give or take a few hundred, but i make about 100g for farming for 2 hours.

I think that this isn't a very moral thing to do because of the nature of what this means to people buying. In my opinion,that's an extremely messed up thing to do. First of all the only reason a person would buy the bag is a chance for the oozling and by taking them out and selling the bag people get something that is not "what is advertised". No one would want to spend 5g on anything else dropped within the bag. To me, this is a scam worthy of being performed by people who do things like teleport hacking and gold selling/buying.

It might be me, but i´m experiencing a change in droprate and places where these drop.

WoW describes these bags as "dropped by every 50+ ooze". However, when i kill 50+ oozes in Felwood or Un'Goro, i no longer seem to get Oozing Bags, but the crappier version: Slimy Bag

However, i'm experiencing a big pimping in EPL. Normally i would go on a killing spree and only find 1 bag every 3 rotations. Now, however, i find 3-4 of these Oozing Bags in every Scar.

Anyone who has the same..problem? Glitch? and can confirm this?

While selling junk to a vendor on my warrior alt i happened upon this bag and was shocked to find the disgusting oozling pet.
After checking the drop chances on here i'm guessing i'm one lucky sonofa ;)
To the dismay of all you pet collector's i immediately put this on ah to get some 'dolla' as i didn't feel the need to keep collecting pets on my main as he has lil' game hunter.

Does time of day affect drop rates?

Last night, starting just after 1:15AM server time, I cleared the Weeping Cave and the surrounding area exactly ten times and got a total of 46 oozing bags. No oozeling of course, but not a bad drop rate on the bags.

Today I've been farming for just over two hours, 8:30PM to 10:40PM, have cleared the place five times (and then some) and have yet to see an oozing bag. RNG is RNG, I know, but isn't this more than bad luck? I mean, one time through with no bag, okay, sure. Two times, wow, that's bad luck. Fifth time through, come on, what's the gag here?

I'm not complaining about not having an oozeling yet. I don't expect to find one for a long time, if ever. But I would restrict my search for the Golden Ticket to the wee hours if Wonka bars aren't available any earlier than that.

Edit: 11:34PM server time. Sixth complete clear. Very last slime (outside of cave) dropped an oozing bag.

CATA UPDATE:

Oozing bags can only be found in Swamp of Sorrows, Unguro Crater and in Winterspring. WP / EP and all other zones have decreased in level by 10. This means all oozes found in those zones will no longer meet the requirements of level to drop the Oozing Bags.

Swamp of Sorrows' Shifting Mireglobs are a low bag drop rate (so far 9%) but they are numerous and spawn relatively fastly (about 5min). This is the place to grind out the oozes. They are found west of Stonard all the way north to south. The bags themselves, however, still have a low pet drop rate (about 1%).

The cave in winterspring will spawn 3 Dimensional Oozes every 2 minutes. This is guaranteed.

The Glutinous Oozes found in Unguro are spread apart and have horrible respawn rates (about 45 min). The Primal Oozes found in Unguro will split into two mobs near death so I suggest killing slowly and getting 2 lootable corpses over just one. However, these will also drop Scum Covered Bags which will not count towards the pet. I say this so you do not become discouraged while hunting for Oozing bags. Primal Oozes will drop both but I am unclear as of now whether the level 50 Primal oozes will drop the Oozing bag. Primal's will range between 50-52 and I can confirm that 51-52 do indeed drop the Oozing Bag.

I've been farming these off mireglobs in SoS for about 2 weeks now lifting about 10-15 bags per run and sending them to my alt dk, im after opening 72 of the bags with no luck *sad face* so yea be prepared for a long grind..im not going to give up because this pet is brilliant and imo the coolest pet to have so repeating the same grind everyday is very effective by not being time consuming and i recommend it..best of luck farming folks

Heres my great story. Just got a Sandstone drake and I wanted this to make my mount extra unique. I start out by farming the wrong bags for 2 hours in Felwood! after I found that out I went to Swamp of sorrows to kill 5 mobs.. looted my first oozing bag....BOOM MOTHA ^&*!ING OOZLING! :D 3 mins of farming! best wishes to you other farmers! :)

So I've heard that these drop off of "high level" oozes more often. WowHead says that it this bag drops off of the Black Oozes in Wetlands (level 25ish or something) but I've killed about 300 of them and have not seen a bag.

So is there really a level range you should shoot for when going for these? My plan was to farm for the Tiny Crimson Whelpling at the same time but it doesn't look like that works on Oozes that are low level.

I did the quest to kill the slimes in Swamp of Sorrows on my 55 lock and got a bag on my first mob and had no clue about what it was, opened it and there it was my lovely little blob:D

I just finished getting my oozeling...ended up pulling an all nighter since I have a couple days left on wow...Just a bit of advice for anyone trying to get this..Your best bet is farming the oozing bag in the swamp of sorrows from the shifting mireglobs..Sometimes you might even get three bags in a row but most of the time your going to be getting Broken Weapon so be patient..My suggestion is have the tv in the back and play some music or something while you zone out and kill things..I rly never thought I'd get this so be patient and you'll get yours to..

Was farming this during arena queues, did arena for about 3 hours, but due to instant queues, very little time inbetween, probably 30 mins altogether farming, i'd rough estimate less than 200 were killed until this finally dropped for me.

No one else was in the arena when i was farming, except one of my afk friends that was previously farming it :)

If you have the capabilities, it is advantageous to farm on a rogue. This is true because each ooze in Swamp of Sorrow essentially counts as two kills, if you pickpocket. 2 bags per mob? Kthxbye,

There are several mobs which drop these bags. Of the mobs which do, I've worked out four main areas that are the most conducive to farming for it:

- Silithus (Frantumatore del Profondo and Assalitore del Profondo)
- Swamp Of Sorrows (Massa Mutevole)
- Winterspring (Scavaterra Spiafredda and Melma Dimensionale)
- Un'goro (Melma Collosa, Melma Clonata, and Melma Primordiale)

The drop rate is approximately the same on all of them (~8%), with a slightly lower rate evident on the Un'goro slimes (5-6% by the Wowhead list).

Of these four areas, I would rate the farming preference like this, from best to worst:

Swamp Of Sorrows: the mobs are easy to find and are plentiful. They are easily gathered, and the respawn rate is quite fast, meaning that you can circle the rivers easily and never have to worry about downtime. They are also pickpocket-able, if you are a rogue, and the bags can be picked from them with a small chance (~5%), giving you double the chances to get them if you have that ability. Definitely the best for a rogue, IMO. As of 5.0.4, they are no longer neutral, but their farmability has otherwise not changed.

Silithus: The worms here are plentiful, and they can drop sandworm meat, which can be useful for leveling cooking (and thus potentially sell well on the AH). They are also skinnable, making this easily more lucrative for a skinner than the slimes, and will likely edge them out ahead. However, while plentiful, they are a lot more spread out, requiring more running/flying space to farm them. If you are a skinner, the thick leather and rugged leather you make off this farm makes it well worth it to go.

Un'goro: Very spread out spawns, with a somewhat lower drop rate than the others. Like the mireglobs, these can be pickpocketed, but *unlike* the mireglob, there is no evidence that Oozing Bags can be gotten off them when you pickpocket.

Winterspring: Not a lot of spawns, but they are clustered in a small area, making it possible to farm them fairly quickly. You'll be waiting a while for respawns, though. Probably not worth farming it exclusively, though clear-cutting the slimes and worms whenever you pass near it won't take too long, and could be worth it if the oozeling drops from the bag. More worms than slimes, but as they are interspersed by spiders as well (which, I believe, share spawns) you could have to go through a lot just to find them. Definitely not what I would call 'good farming', when you compare it to the above three areas.

EDIT: Removed the mention of the leggings, as they no longer drop from slimes, but instead are purchasable.

I farmed one of these on my paladin, and it took me about an hour and a half to get the pet. I was getting around 1 bag a minute. I've recently tried farming for one on my druid, and I've been farming for an hour and have yet to get a single BAG to drop!

The best place to get these is from the Shifting Mireglobs in Swamp of Sorrows (the west side only), as others have pointed out it is possible to pickpocket the bags from the Shifting Mireglobs too, increasing the chance of getting one bag from a mob to 13% for rogues. It is also possible to obtain two bags from a Shifting Mireglob, one from pickpocketing and one from looting it, this has happened for me twice.

The reason why Swamp of Sorrows is the best place to farm this, is due to the fact that there are a lot of Shifting Mireglobs and you can plan a route which will make you able to keep killing these mobs without stopping (if you go on foot), but if you end up having killed all the Shifting Mireglobs, do not worry, they have a very low spawn time of approx 2-5min.

I hope this is a help to anyone who is trying to farm this Disgusting Oozeling.

Considering the drop rate of these bags, then the pet, and how spread out the mobs are, you would probably be saving yourself time by rolling a tank and just grinding call to arms.

You have to be pretty hardcore or extremely lucky to be grinding these mobs for so long.

I've been farming these on and off for a while now. So far I've had 185 bags drop without the oozeling. It's a little frustrating, but I think I have a nice route.

I travel a route killing 35 globs with 0 time waiting for respawn. The route takes me (as a rogue) just over 6 minutes, which includes pickpocketing them and killing them. I tried the route once with no pickpocketing, and it took 4 mins 45 seconds. I'm getting around 40-45 bags an hour like this, which fits in with the percentages on the site. I should have roughly 2 oozelings now if the 1.7% figure is accurate. :( (and it should take roughly 2 hours per oozeling) Unfortunately, it isn't quite working out that way. :D

Edit: Oozeling dropped in bag 282 after about 6 hours on and off and almost going crazy. Good luck with your farming!

After 1 hour of farming in Silithus I've got 86 Rugged Leathers, 78 Thick Leathers, 7 Thick Hides, 11 Rugged Hide and 17 Ooze bags.

17 Ooze bags looted 11 Greater Mana Potions, 11 Superior Healing Potions, 1 Goldthorn, 3 Mana Potions, 1 Aquamarine, 1 Dragon's teeth, 1 Blindweed.

So this is turning out to be a quite chore to farm that pet, hopefully I would get it in under 5 hours, I will update when've got the pet!

Did 2 hours of farming in Silithus, got 33 bags, and about same rate of leather. Bags looted: 11 Superior Healing Potions, 4 Mana Potions, 5 Greater Mana Potions, 1 Aquamarine, 2 Star Rubys, some random Herbs AND 1 Disgusting Oozeling!

In total 40 Oozing Bags and about 3 hours later, I got the pet, very happy. (:
Pet is selling for about 6k on my server, so if I sell it this is very good for the money aswell!

Ok, first time posting on Wow head. I have been farming Shifting Mireglobs for days off and on. I use the Rarity add-on to keep a tally and I have opened three-hundred and thirty (330) bags and have gotten zero (0) companions. I've killed around twenty-eight hundred oozes in the process. The add-on was designed but some mathematician and he shows on your broker bar (Titan, Fubar, etc.) a running weighted percentage of whether someone should have gotten the drop yet. At 330 bags my percentage is at 97.99%. This is not my first time farming rares and I have never been to the point where I have farmed almost 4 times (4x) the odds (1 in 85) and still not had a rare drop. I don't see anything posted otherwise but I really hope Blizzard did not quietly remove the companion from the Mireglob's loot table. Keeping my fingers crossed but this is getting to be a bit much...

I had bought a disgusting oozeling off the AH a while back but decided to farm in Swamp of Sorrows for my other toon and the bag's dropped various herbs and gems along with an enchant formula and a blacksmith pattern and it dropped within approximately 200 kills. I honestly could not believe it and kept farming and another one dropped within another 100 kills. Wow I could do this for a living. >.>'

Melmina Disgustosa has a 1.6% drop-rate from Sacca Melmosa (1 Ooze per 62.5 bags). Sacca Melmosa has a drop-rate of 21% from Cacciatore di Carne (1 bag per 4.76 kills) & a drop-rate of 9% from Massa Mutevole (1 bag per 11.11 kills). If my math is correct, these numbers mean Melmina Disgustosa has a .336% overall drop-rate from Cacciatore di Carne (1 Ooze per 297.62 kills) & a .144% overall drop-rate from Massa Mutevole (1 Ooze per 694.44 (repeating) kills). Interestingly, this means Melmina Disgustosa is technically less of a rare drop than some whelplings, though you do have to deal with 2 drops here, so I'm not sure how it'll play-out.

Note: Every time you see ___ per ___, that is an average, it's impossible to say exactly, because chance is a large factor and in the interest of tidying up I didn't put "average" every time. Also, please feel free to check my math, I have and everything seems to add-up. I spent a lot of time formatting this and figuring the math, so I hope it helped. ;)

After seeing a lot of different number, i decided to do some of my own calculations, based on what wowhead shows me has been found and howmuch kills were registered.

9% of the kills contained a bag. (The ones in SoS i took since those i will farm myself)
1.7% of the bags contained the pet.

Now i know that RNG means i could get it opening my first bag which i got from my first kill.
But it could also means that after 500000 million kills i wouldn't even have seen a single bag yet, let alone a pet in it.

However, i always like to focus on a number so i, with the luck i often have, get one before that.

100/9 = bit over 11. So approximately each 11 kills will give me a bag.
100/1,7 = bit under 59. So approximately each 59 bags will contain a pet.

11 kills for a bag, 59 bags for a pet.
11 x 59 = 649.

So, approximately after 649 kills i should have the pet.
Seem pretty far away from the 2800 kills i seen someone else calculate.

The only wrong in my calcs is the same wrong every chance calc contains, RNG doesn't work like that.
Other then that, i would finish my exams with those calcs:P

(To those math-ratarded morons out there;
i divided the 100 by the chance% cus a % means X in 100. So 9% is 9 in 100 = 100/9)

I will be looking foreward to getting the pet pre-650 kills :D

After opening 50 Oozing Bags..

The 17th Bag dropped my first Disgusting Oozeling.

The 23th Bag dropped my second Disgusting Oozeling.

The 25th Bag dropped my third Disgusting Oozeling.

My 46th Bag dropped my fourth Disgusting Oozeling.

So i guess sometimes your luckier than others.

Rarity mod, says it took me 5 attempts to get one...though I killed an ungodly amount of slimes, just to get those 5 bags, so that was really the only problem persay.

If I can get a decent amount for it, I'll be happy.

Farmed mireglobs in Swamp of Sorrows for the pet

1,980 kills for 84 bags giving a drop rate of 4.2%. Got my pet on the 75th bag which gives a chance of 13.3%.

Pet has a 0.013% chance to drop on each kill

I picked up the Melmina Disgustosa farming Massa Mutevole in Swamp of Sorrows. 2497 kills, 102 drops of Sacca Melmosa before I finally found one. Note that the bags were wildly variable, with some dropping every other kill and others taking 80 kills or more. On average, I got a bag every 25 kills or so.

Very important: the bags, which contain the pet, can only be looted off slimes level 40+*, and under regular circumstances, the slimes in Swamp of Sorrows are only level 30, so they will not drop. Here is how you address this issue:

Level a character to 40+ but no higher than level 49.
Visit Stormwind or Orgrimmar and lock your XP so you don't accidentally outlevel Chromie Time and get kicked out.
Go to Chromie and enter Cataclysm Chromie Time. That will set the level of everything in the zone to your level, which is high enough for the bag to drop but not so high that you'll get kicked out of Chromie time (level 50).

*Edit: Someone said they were able to get the bag to drop off a level 30 shifting mireglob, after >300 kills. That lines up with my experience: I killed at least 500, without any drops of Sacca Melmosa at all, before I thought to come here and read the comments. I still recommend the method above, because the drop rate for the bag containing the pet was much higher once I used a character in the proper range.

Edit 2: I farmed this on a level 45 hunter for movement speed and range. But someone reported a lower drop rate than mine. It makes me wonder if the rates vary in the 40-49 range. If you try my method, please comment with your level and drop rates!

The best drop rate for these I found was on Angry Blight Slime and Blight Slime in Southshore. They spawn fast, and drop the Oozing Bag at a decent rate: ~ 25 out of 525 attempts.

Other places I tried were a colossal waste of time, with either a nearly 0% drop rate (dredgers in old Silithus, Mireglobs) or a spawn rate that's so low you have to run all over the map trying to force spawns (Primal, Clone and Glutinous Oozes in U'Goro).

The rumor is that you need to farm the Blight Slimes with Chromie time on, and as a level ~40-50 toon. I used Chromie time and a level 40-47 hunter for all my farming. I really hope this helps someone!

Got Melmina Disgustosa after 246 Sacca Melmosa, 5607 Ooze kills. Used the Studi di Letalità quest to kill packs of Fanghiglia Ammorbata and Fanghiglia Ammorbata Rabbiosa. Did a few hundred kills with different level characters in chromie time. At around level 47 I only received Borsa Coperta di Feccia, but as my level got to around 52ish I stopped seeing those bags entirely and started to get Sacca Melmosa drops. I did the majority of the farming at level 59, but judging from classic drop rates based on mob levels, level 56 may be the sweet spot, but it's very hard to say. Several slime junk items from wrath and tbc have been added to the loot tables for every slime, and they only drop one item from the slime loot table every kill, so the rate is lower than it used to be before level scaling.

Items that are now in every slimes loot table that weren't originally were Icore Miserabile and Teschio Masticato, with these two items dropping about 60% of the time that Icore Verde Effervescente did not. This almost perfectly accounts for the reduction in bag drop rate from about 10% based on classic rates to 4% for my 5607 kills.

After some testing today, I can confirm that Oozing Bag drops off Shifting Mireglob in Cataclysm Chromie Time starting at level 54, the same level you begin to see Broken Weapon and Brittle Skull drop. (pic taken just after turning 54 - only Scum-Covered Bag dropped prior to 54.)

Just got this to drop on bag #42. Can confirm it dropping from Shifting Mireglob in Swamp of Sorrows at level 54 (but not at level 50). Turned off XP gain and turned on Chromie-time for this grind.

Been chasing several of these rare drop pets lately and this was the worst by far. Feels like you are beholden to RNG twice for this, once for the bag drop and once for the pet in the bag. Probably got ~1 bag per loop around the Harborage (15-20 mobs). Got really old, really fast.

According to this forum post, the Shadowlands level squish seems to have quite negatively affected drop rates of the Sacca Melmosa, making them only drop in certain level ranges. The TL:DR is that if you aren't in Chromie Time and at a level where they're dropping Icore Verde Effervescente, Icore Miserabile, and Teschio Masticatos (around levels 40-50, at the time of the post), then you can't get the Sacca Melmosa. This means farming them in the Death Knight tutorial is dead.

Unsure what the level range is now that Chromie Time goes to level 60.

Thought I would share my anecdotal account of farming this bag/pet. All of my farming was done in the Swamp of Sorrows location.

No bags drop at level 52, and 53.

At grinded for the entire level 53-54 and received 14 or so , the wrong type of bag.
At 54 the loot changed, scum covered bags stopped dropping. Lifeless skulls turned into masticated and brittle skulls instead. As well as Broken Weapons being added as a drop.
249 kills elapsed at level 54 with no sign of a bag and I thought about giving up as I was nearly level 55.
At 250 kills I received my first (90% of the way to level)
I received my second 25 kills later when I dinged level 55.

The following is my grind at level 55: 13 after approximately 251 kills.
The bags dropped in intervals of: 34 kills, 11 kills, 12 kills, 17 kills, 27 kills, 20 kills, 25 kills, 4 kills, 15 kills, 11 kills, 15 kills, 25 kills, 35 kills.
Followed by 17 kills with no bag when I leveled up to 56
Continued at level 56: I had an additional 18 kills on top of the previous 16 for a total of 35 kills before receiving another , followed by another at 35 kills.

I then opened my pet successfully on my 19th bag.

My advice is to be level 55+, the bag *can* drop at 54 but the drop rate is terrible. Expect a bag to drop on average every 20~ kills from my small sample size. And then it's just a matter of repeating until you get lucky. Best of luck

Can confirm that Chromie Time isnt needed to get this drop (Unless chromie time extends to level 70 now). Level 70 char, killed about 50 Blight slimes (maybe 40 angry slimes as well) and got it

For anyone trying to farm this pet in Dragonflight.

You need to be at least level 55 and be in Cataclysm Chromie time. I can't be sure what level this will go up to at the moment, all I know is I have been edging this out one level at a time for the past couple of days and they finally started dropping with these conditions met.

I am farming the Shifting Mireglobs in Swamp of Sorrows.

After FOUR Characters leveled from 54 to 60 in Cataclysm Chromie time wandering around in the Swamp of Sorrows killing oh so many Shifting Mireglob (nothing else that would give experience). 226 Oozing bags later I finally got my DISGUSTING OOZELING.
