The are 2 mechanism with symbols near the barrier and you have to
find the matching symbol among the 4 Sigillo Misterioso laying on the ground nearby.

You can kill protector of the first ones multiple times a day however I think the actual key drop is a daily lockout. I killed it about 100 times one day for only cypher drops, then started killing it daily and it dropped after 2 days (had pet cypher thing unlocked) - all anecdotal evidence though

35 kills the last hour, yet to loot the key.
The key has dropped for other people tho.
I have the recipe and unlocked almost everything in Cyphers.

Does anyone know if you can loot this on an alt if your main has sopranian research and the mount forge unlocked, but not the alt you kill it on?

Chiave della Rivelazione is dropped by Protettore dei Primi and is not 100%
It will not drop until your character ("main"/"alt" ... whatever) has completed the The Final Song quest line starting with
Alla ricerca di Tahli and ending with Scelta obbligata

You start The Final Song quest line after completing research Comprensione del Sopraniano

Chiave della Rivelazione is used to craft both Elicide Scarlatto and Camminatore Taracnide

To craft Elicide Scarlatto you need Schema: Elicide Scarlatto

1 x Reticolo di Elicide
1 x Chiave della Rivelazione

To craft Camminatore Taracnide you need Schema: Camminatore Taracnide
450 x Granulo di Genesi
1 x Reticolo di Taracnide
1 x Chiave della Rivelazione

You do not need to have learned the schematics for Chiave della Rivelazione to drop from Protector of the First Ones.
You can kill him as many times a day as you want, but like most rares, only the first kill allows the drop.
I got this object first then read up on how to get the two schematics and got both of them with little effort.
The drop is not 100% even after completing The Final Song. For me, I killed him I think at least 4 times, maybe 8, before I got the item.
Remember, you can't count the kills you made before you completed The Final Song.

if it is twice the same symbol, you can Porta delle Ombre from the console you are standing at to the other and unlock it solo.

I've been killing it every day, eventually an additional time on an alt.
Finally get 1 key drop at the end of April. Basically 2 months of daily kills so I finally make that spider mount.

It must be some type of bug, but check out what happened to me (in case it happened to you and you are scratching your head for a brief period).

I've had the cypher research on my main for an eternity but only recently started the quest chain from Tahli to actually open the mount forge and thus start receiving recipes/mount reagents.
Followed with 3 of my alts, to speed things up, I've had this item (Revelation KEY) drop on one of them. Immediately send to the main only to find out that I have already too many of those and can't receive any more?

After opening the reagent bank they were in the middle of all the mess, meaning I've deposited them long time ago, as I had many other mats after it.
Either this was a bug in the start of the patch and I was able to loot this without (perhaps) even not having the cypher research or in the very least - without actually unlocking the mount forge.
Was this only my case, any of you having the same "issue"?

A solo technique for those farming Chiave della Rivelazione to craft Elicide Scarlatto and Camminatore Taracnide, the door to Protettore dei Primi can be entered as a ghost. Mount up to a deadly height and fall just outside the door, then corpse walk back releasing inside of the cave.
