This item is required to trigger Hirukon.

To obtain it, you must first fish up Gelatina Strana from Hirukon's waters (this appears to be a very rare chance currently).

Taking it to Baronessa Vashj will reveal she can make you a lure for Hirukon, and provides a hint as to where you can find the other 3 ingredients.

Medumelma Pungente is fished up from a inside Coilfang Reservoir at /way #102 52.2 37.9
Medusa Pinnata is obtained by initially fishing up a Medusa Pinnata from a in Zin-Azshari, Nazjatar at /way #1355 72.8 24.3, which immediately "slips away" and summons a Medusa Pinnata that flops about and must be caught by clicking on it to get the final item.
Viticcio Spirastretta is obtained from in Nar'shola Terrace, Shimmering Expanse at /way #205 34.7 75.0, located on the balcony of a tower on the second level of ruins (it's extremely hard to see it).

Once you have all of these ingredients, return to Baronessa Vashj, and she will turn them into an Esca per Aurelide.

Despite what the use effect says, right-clicking the Esca per Aurelide will consume it and apply Esca per Aurelide to you, which allows you to see an to fish in at /way #1970 51.86 74.31, which in turn will trigger Hirukon on a successful fish for a seemingly guaranteed drop of Polipo Stellafonda for you on kill. It can drop for non-lure users, but it's a very low drop chance.

The trigger happens at the same time as looting your bobber, and there will be a zone wide broadcast of "Hirukon cautiously emerges from the depths below." when it starts rising up.

Hirukon seems to have a 15-20 minute respawn time. As is the case with most rares currently, it remains a rare even after your first kill each day but Flusso Cosmico will no longer drop. This suggests Polipo Stellafonda is also only available on the first kill each day unless you use the lure.

Baronessa Vashj can provide you with a new lure each week at no cost, even after you obtain the mount.

Esca per Aurelide Is required to make Hirukon Emerge
The player Triggering Hirukon with Esca per Aurelide is guaranteed a Polipo Stellafonda to drop on kill.

To obtain a Esca per Aurelide you need to fish up Gelatina Strana from Hirukon's pool

Dropchance is quite abysmal, probably around 1/1500 according to my experience and the people I've talked to.

Once obtained to go Baronessa Vashj in Maldraxxus

She lets you know that she can make a lure if you bring 3 materials.
Medumelma Pungente Medusa Pinnata Viticcio Spirastretta

Medumelma Pungente can be fished from a school inside Coilfang Resevoir in Zangarmarsh Outland
/way 52.2 37.9

Medusa Pinnata can be fished from a school in Nazjatar, when caught it slips away and you have to barbaricly catch it with your bare hands.
/way 72.8 24.3

Viticcio Spirastretta
Is found in Shimmering Expanse, the subzone of the Cataclysm zone Vashj'ir. Found in the lower ruins on a balcony, and can be very hard to see.

Return to Baronessa Vashj with the materials and she'll make an Esca per Aurelide

Apply the Esca per Aurelide once at Hirukon in Zereth Mortis, and you'll be able to see an Aurelid Cluster. Fish in it to trigger Hirukon to Emerge.

*IMPORTANT* - The mount will not drop if it is not your first kill of the day. Killing Hirukon when someone else triggers him, will lockout looting the mount until next reset. So if you obtain the Lure, don't use it until the next day if you've already killed Hirukon that day.

The alternative option is to simply buy all of the items which are Strange Goop, Pungent Blobfish, Flipper Fish, and Coilclutch Vine from the Auction House.

Be careful as I did not see a pool of fish when using my lure and the mount rare was present. I created a ticket and was told that “sometimes it takes one or two attempts” and they did not want to replace the item but encouraged me to try again. :(

I just did this in a raid group, with 40 people around it's very hard to see the pool, so ask people to move away.
When they moved I saw the pool and got Hirukon to the surface.

If you don't want to fish for the low drop chance, you can buy Gelatina Strana on the auction house. Prices will vary based on servers. I have seen it for 200k on some servers and 400k on others.

You can also buy Medumelma Pungente, Medusa Pinnata and Viticcio Spirastretta on the auction house, but I do not recommend it as they will be overpriced and these items are easy to acquire once you have the Gelatina Strana.

Also, remember when using the lure Esca per Aurelide to have graphic settings on high and make sure it's both your first time looting Hirukon for the day and first time using the lure for the week on that character, in order to get the mount Polipo Stellafonda

Once you get Gelatina Strana by either fishing it up (1/1200 chance) or buying it on the auction house, the hard part is DONE.

Medumelma Pungente, Medusa Pinnata and Viticcio Spirastretta require NO RNG so don't worry, just go to their locations and you will fish/loot them up quickly.

Once you summon Hirukon using the lure Esca per Aurelide make to have graphic settings on high and make sure it's your first time looting Hirukon for the day on that character to get the mount Polipo Stellafonda

I wanted to confirm from my own personal experience that I killed Hirukon 3 times while fishing for the Strange Goop. I acquired the goop and then made the lure.. used the lure on a monday before sleeping just to get the lure for free the next day from Vashj and to give everyone else a chance. I GOT the mount on my 4th kill of the day but the first using my OWN lure.

I was able to summon the boss more then once on different shards after applying the buff which lasts for 15 minutes.

This has been fixed! You can now talk to her to receive a new one every week.

I just had it confirmed by a GM that it is a known bug and we are supposed to get a lure after each reset. They are looking into it and it will hopefully be resolved soon!

I found my second strange goop, after 12 casts. I have 200 SL fishing+39 skill pts from fishing gear at the time. Same way I found my first goop, with 48 casts. I'm starting to believe drop chance improves depending on your fishing skill. Or I've used up my RNG for the rest of the year.

I also opened a ticket about this and just got this response.

Game Master Ixzal here and to clarify, Baroness Vashj does not provide a new Aurelid Lure after you have already obtained the mount.

Just logged on after server reset on US-Area 52 on 3/29/2022 and Vashj gave me another lure. The bug appears to have been fixed.

So this was strange. When I finished my lure it happened someone summoned the rare just before me. Got the mount. Then I wanted to use my own lure next day so I get rep from the rare. There were no schools of fish visible and I was fishing for 15min and it did not get summoned. I have no idea why this happened. This was a very particular set of events so no idea if anyone else had this happen to them. I might ask a GM about it.

EDIT: After contacting the GM I was informed it was indeed a bug and to report thru a bug report.

Quick tip, you can summon Hirukon as many times as you want while the buff is applied. Just realm jump by joining groups in the LFG tool. Managed to do it 10 times with issues.

Beware. Esca per Aurelide uses the same bland icon as Esca per Pescecauti Sdentati. Its a greenish lump with fishhook prongs sticking put of it. Deleted it by mistake when trying to make room in my bags.

IMO Esca per Aurelide should have a unique icon and a legendary orange border.

After I received the Esca per Aurelide but before I used it, my main got Hirukon as a drop when someone summoned it. I don’t know whether I could have summoned Hirukon using the lure, after that. Once I deleted the lure, no chance. Baronessa Vashj had nothing encouraging to say.

Tried using the Recover lost items function, but it didn’t show.

Vashj is still refusing to give me another lure. It's been close to two months since I fished up the goop, got the lure and summoned the rare. Others seem to be able to get a lure once per week, I've never been able to do so.

This week was the first week I could not get a lure. I realized that I had the lure in my bags on Monday night, so I fished up Hirukon before logging out. I logged in on Tuesday after the reset, and had a couple minutes left on the buff. I put in a ticket saying that I was unable to get a lure (and I thought having the buff active during reset could be the cause). After some automated replies, I got an actual GM, and they confirmed that the buff does prevent you from getting a new lure. Normally this would not be a problem for me, as I usually fish Hirukon up during the weekend to give people a shot at the mount. I forgot about it last week until Monday night. So don't have the buff active going into the reset!

Why on EARTH would devs put two of the three locations where new toons would have to run through the unlocks with no skip. Could have easily been placed in already accessible lands. Disgruntled.

To get Hirukon 51.8 74.5 up You need Esca per Aurelide You can get it in 3 steps:

Step 1

- First Fish Gelatina Strana in Hirukon lake 51.8 74.5. Then Fly To NPC Baronessa Vashj 57.6 92.1 in Maldraxxus and speak with him. You can buy/sell Gelatina Strana in AH.

Step 2

Get 3 item for NPC Baronessa Vashj 57.6 92.1 in Maldraxxus:

1. Medumelma Pungente - Can be fished in Zangarmarsh 52.5 37.9 from ( to get to Zangarmarsh use portal in Stormwind to Shattrath ) . To get there You need to swim down through the pipe to Coilfang Reservoir ( is the way how you getting to RAID Caverna di Sacrespire )

2. Medusa Pinnata - Can be fished in Nazjatar 73.1 24.2 ( to get to Nazjatar use portal in stormwind to Borlaus then portal to Nazjatar ). Fish it up from then you need to catch it from ground xD.

3. Viticcio Spirastretta - You can pick it up from located in Shimmering Expanse 34.7 74.9. To get to Shimmering Expanse use in Stormwind to Vashj'ir 73.9 74.9. is located in 2nd level of underwater structure.

After collect 3 items fly back to Baronessa Vashj 57.6 92.1 in Maldraxxus.

Step 3

Take Esca per Aurelide to Zereth Mortis 51.8 74.4 and use it, will spawn when you will fish on it Hirukon will come up. After kill you have a chance to get Polipo Stellafonda and Estensione Radiante di Hirukon.

i get 2 Gelatina Strana and take me 4-6h of fishing to get one.

Hirukon is a part of Avventuriero di Zereth Mortis.

If Vashj isn't offering you the option to craft the lure, you may be talking to the wrong Vashj. You may remember doing quests for her at Renounced Bastille in Maldraxxus, but you talk to her there, she will not craft your lure or acknowledge your strange goop. You need to go to the unmarked water pool on the far south of the map, accessible by ground mounts through a tunnel in the house of plagues. You will find her there holding a fishing pole around the edge of the water.

Baroness Vashj: /way 57.5 92.0
Access tunnel for ground mounts: /way 60.6, 81.2

If you aren't able to reobtain the lure you probably did something to mess up the encounter. For example as soon as I got the lure I started flying and decided to click the lure in my bag midflight thinking it probably wouldn't let me as I was moving. Wrong. I never made it to ZM and when I did finally the pool wasn't there. Every attempt to reobtain the lure from Vashj was unsuccessful said to leave him alone yada yada. Granted this was all done on daily reset not weekly reset. As soon as weekly reset hit I was able to get the lure from Vashj again. So my advice is to be patient and keep checking with her. Check after your daily/weekly resets and you'll more than likely be given another one.
