Used to obtain the mount Zampaoscura

Zampaoscura is obtained by feeding a friendly npc in Korthia called Darkmaul 10x Fungofauce Appetitoso

The Mawshrooms are obtained from treasure nodes called Fungofauce Invasivo in Korthia. They have about a 10-20% dropchance.
The "treasures" can be picked up once per spawn point per day, some spawnpoints are shared tho, and you can pick up a total of 5 Invasive Mawshrooms a day. So if you're lucky, you can obtain this mount in 2 days.
If the Invasive Mawshrooms has been picked up by someone else, they currently have about a 10-15minute respawn timer, but can be picked up within 5 seconds of the first player looting the shroom.
The Fungofauce Appetitoso are not unique, so you can gather all 10 before "turning them in" to Darkmaul, but you can turn them in as you please. When you feed Darkmaul he will let you ride him. This'll give you a 2 minute buff stating that: "You might become friends overtime". This turns out to be rather important. If you feed Darkmaul and instantly jumps off, instead of riding for the 2 minute buff duration, it will not count towards your progress for getting the mount.

They have increased the amount from 6 to 10 Fungofauce Appetitosos (Hidden Quest hidden tracking quest to track your progress for the mawshrooms you've turned in) to get the Zampaoscura mount.

Same here, lucky first two days with one character but then...zero. I even tried with alts and none...not even one! Maybe there is a weekly cap?

Can confirm these still exist, either I'm incredibly unlucky or the droprate is much lower than 10-20%. I was starting to think they changed something but I finally got my first one today.

Looted 100+ Fungofauce Invasivo and haven't gotten a single Fungofauce Appetitoso

Edit: Got all 10 after a month of looting every Fungofauce Invasivo daily.

You can check how many Tasty Mawshrooms you handed in so far by using the following script:

Note that you get a credit for the hidden quest the moment your character jumps onto Darkmaul, so you probably don't have to wait for the 2 minute buff to expire.

This effect is character specific, not account wide. You must dangle 10 mawshrooms on one toon.

I had looted only 1 Tasty Mushroom after 8 days of Korthia being open. Was planning on saving them until I had enough to turn in, but decided to just turn in the one I had after not receiving one for a week. I then went and immediately looted an Invasive Mushroom and got another Tasty Mushroom. Not sure if it was just a weird coincidence, but I'll keep testing it.

UPDATE: I've farmed out Korthia pretty extensively every day since it was open (19th day now), and I've only found 4 Tasty Mawshrooms total. Just seems like complete RNG and low at that.

UPDATE 2: Hadn't found any in many days, when I looted one today. Went and used it on Darkmaul immediately, then again got another one right after from another treasure. Still think its a coincidence and complete RNG but weeeeird man.

Over the first few days of the patch i got atleast 15-20 of these (atleast 1 from every Invasive Mawshroom) but thought they were just a "gimmick" item so deleted/ vendored them, since i found out what they were for i have NOT had a single one drop! :(

Managed to complete this grind today on an extremely lucky alt. I have been farming all five invasive mawshrooms on nine characters every day since the patch, and here are the drop rates out of the total of 65 mawshrooms looted on each toon:

Character 1: 2/65
Character 2: 2/65
Character 3: 0/65
Character 4: 1/65
Character 5: 3/65
Character 6: 4/65
Character 7: 0/65
Character 8: 10/65
Character 9: 2/65

This all averages out to around a 4% drop rate, which may be slightly below average looking at the wowhead drop rates.

So my best advice on completing this mount as effectively as possible is to farm all five mawshrooms every day on every one of your max level alts. It only takes around 5 minutes and will make this grind a whole lot shorter if you get unlucky on your main or lucky on an alt.

Welp, i'm on 7/10 after looting the mushrooms daily since release. I have to say this is such a !@#$ty system with a terrible drop rate. It feels like it is simply made this way to keep you going at this point and it's making me dislike Korthia as a whole.

Some of you in the comments do not understand drop rates.
Each node has a 10-20% "drop rate" to have the item.
It is not per person, it is one per node. (At this time, Blizz might eventually hotfix it to be per person. They regularly change things based on how many people get the mount throughout an expansion)
You can still loot after the first person and get other loot but the Mawshroom drop rate RNG "wheel" only counts for the first person to loot.
If the mawshroom is in the loot table and the person that got it has full bags you have a chance to get it when you loot.
Now we will discuss what drop rate actually means.
10-20% means that you have a spinning wheel that can land on a section the size of the %
so a 10% chance is a 1/10th size pie slice and a 20% is 1/5th sized pie slice.
This wheel spins every time you are the first to loot it.
This means that a 10% drop rate does not mean you will definitely get one looting 10 Invasive Mawshrooms
I must have looted over 500 Invasive Mawshrooms and today is the first time I have seen this item.
Depending on your RNG luck this might be a fast grind or one that takes all expansion and you have to reserve a space in your bags to get the item.
Brings back memories of the days of farming S@#$hards for Alani.

I got back to my covenant, checked my bag and after 9 days of opening everything in korthia. i see that i finally got one again.
if this keeps up it will take ages to get that mount. 5/10

I can confirm you do NOT have to ride Darkmaul for 2 minutes after turning in a tasty mawshroom. Simply exit the vehicle and click off your debuff and then you can turn in more tasty mawshrooms. I turned in all 10 at once and got the mount. The quest tracker also continues to tick up regardless of if you ride the whole 2 minutes or not if you want further proof.

However, the distribution of tasty mushrooms is highly fluctuating (per character): 11, 9, 5, 2, 5, 5, 1, 3, 3, 4, 2

Drop rates were very low but i finally got the mount today. I saved 10 mawshrooms on my backpack till now. Can confirm that you don't have to ride Darkmaul for 2 minutes. You can use the shroom, get the 2 min buff, remove with right clicking it and repeat.

This is, without a doubt, the WORST designed mount rare ever. Imagine if you were trying for the polar bear in northrend storm peaks dailies but you need to loot him 10 times to learn the mount. Its completely and absolutely atrocious in every possible way. i got past the 3 digits in the amount of looted mawshroom treasures and only got a mushroom ONCE. What the actual hell?

I just fed the 10 shrooms all at once. What I did was clicked the item 3 times and it prompted me to ride him. I rode for the full 2 minutes the 1st time. Gave another 3 shrooms and when it made me ride him, I hopped off. Did another 3 shrooms and hopped off again. The final 1 shroom, I rode the full 2 minutes. I don't think you have to ride for the full 2 minutes. Also clicking multiple shrooms worked so you don't have to ride him 10 times.

Been stuck needing 1 of the much needed tasty mawsrhooms for about 2 weeks now. I am lucky if the invasive mawshrooms even spawn anymore. Like, maybe 4 a day, if that. I hopped on an alt & she had 10 spawn in 30 minutes. VERY frustrating!

I can report I got two of these in one day (so there is no daily cap). on the 10th mushroom turn-in the mount goes automatically inside your bags, no need to wait 2 minutes on his back.

Why bother giving more information about items in the tooltip when you have wowhead, right?
No real info about them, no sell price... and most of all, common quality like the other shrooms.
No wonder I deleted (no kidding, I really did) like 3 of those thinking that they're just fun little item like the others.

Maybe that wouldn't happen to me (and perhaps many others) if there was a chance to know what they are used for without having to use an external site, saying it is used to attract a hungry shardhide doesn't tell you much.

There's a lot of good information here but I was still a bit confused about what to do. I didn't stand there and feed him the 10 mawshrooms. I only fed him 5. He became interactive and I rode him for 2 minutes up the path towards the base camp. I wasn't sure what would happen if I got attacked, so I played it safe and stayed away from mobs. When 2 minutes were up, I was dismounted and Darkmaul despawned. I had 5 mawshrooms left. I ran back to his spawn spot and fed him 2 more. I jumped on and rode him up the same path. I was dismounted after 2 minutes again, riding up the same path as before. Hoping the 3rd time was the charm, I returned and fed him the last few mawshrooms I had. Once I was mounted the achievement trumpets played and I continued to ride Darkmaul up the same path as before. After 2 minutes, I was dismounted and I checked my bags where I found the Darkmaul mount.

I hope this will be helpful for others.

I accidently clicked my mushrooms twice, thought I lost one since I can only get on the mount once. Seems it counted. I got bold and for my last 3 mushrooms, I clicked them while I was on Darkmaul. They counted, and got the mount. So when you are on darkmaul, you can click your other mushrooms and still get the mount.

After an entire month of farming Korthia daily and not finding a single Tasty Mawshroom, I finally got one. The macro that tracks how many mawshrooms you've fed to Darkmaul said 9 so I was ecstatic that I finally found the last one. I fed it to Darkmaul, rode him for 2 minutes and then...the macro said I was on 1 mawshroom.

1/22/2022 - just got my 10th tasty mushroom it took a long time, would usually hit 5-7 nodes per day and then just give up and wait till next day, horrendous drop rate for sure

finally when I got all 10, added them to my hot bar, came up to Darkmaul, and spam clicked the shrooms on hot bar, I think it used them all at once, or maybe like 3-5 at once but the rest disappeared (maybe cause I turned in a bunch before?) and it automatically mounted me on darkmaul and instantly put the mount in my bag, didn't have to ride anything

I used to have these drop maybe once a week farming korthia everyday. Looting 3-4 invasive mushrooms. Have 6 now and haven't seen any pop up for a while. Hope this drop chance or bug is fixed. I notice a lot of people are having problems with them dropping after getting 6-7 of them. Been on these for months now.

I actually wrote a ticket just to ask.. I need 3 more and was absolutely not getting any, and I suspect that I have deleted a few when I first started, so I was worried that you can only loot 10 (which of course is ridicolous) and got this response.

I'm happy to confirm that Tasty Mawshrooms are simply just a low drop rate, as we've investigated and confirmed that they're working fine at the moment. I wish you the best of luck with getting them to drop! ^^

Has anyone had one of these drop recently? I hit 6 and now haven't seen one drop in a few months, despite looting at least 3-5+ Invasive Mawshrooms every single day. The first 1-6 were low drop rate/a bit spread out but it was doable enough, now I straight up haven't seen one in at least idk 3 months? 90*3, that's a bare minimum of 270 chests opened without a single drop? So with 3-5+ opened per day, that's between 270-450+ opened without seeing a single Tasty Mawshroom. What's going on? This seems way more excessive than just "low drop rate"

EDIT: If anyone's interested, it's been 1 year since I made this comment and I still haven't seen another one drop. Still 6/10...

Apparently 9.2 has reset the 10 mawshrooms you need for the Darkclaw mount. I ran the script (from other comments) after 9.2 and it said zero. I have looted/given darkclaw 9 mawshrooms since 9.2 and I definitely turned in 1 or more before 9.2. Progress was not saved for me from 9.1 to 9.2. This grind takes a very long time. I believe I have turned in 16-ish mawshrooms now (7 before 9.2 and 9 after 9.2). :/

It been a month there, i got my quests done, rares killed, mounts droped and yet i didnt see a SINGLE tasty mawshroom yet.

I got 9 mushrooms within the first few days of korthia. I didn't complete it, so now in 9.2 I wanted to get it done... But I haven't seen one in months now. They must have changed it at some point

It is now nearly June 2022. To date, I have found one...and only ONE...tasty mawshroom. By my estimation I've looted at least 500 - 600 of these invasive nodes.

I really, really hate Shadowlands.

Can confirm that these still drop as of today since i was starting to wonder if it was bugged.
Have been farming them on 4 alts and have not got a single one to drop for at least 2 weeks, but today i got 2 of them to drop on the same alt.
Not getting my hopes up that the same thing will happen tomorrow but now i know they are still there.

Just posting that these drop still during DF, got all 10 within 2 months, probably hitting Korthia 57ish days, looting 3-5 mushrooms each time.

I saved all 10 to give in one sitting - NOT recommended. Give as u find, as you HAVE to wait 2 minutes between feeding each shroom.
The 2-minute wait can be circumvented by logging out, immediately after feeding Darkmaul - he's 'fresh' once you log back in, but that's still an awkward minimum of 30 seconds between feedings.

You can no longer "right click the buff away", but, you can dismount the Darkmaul "vehicle", and it still counts. However, Darkmaul "looses interests" you and isn't available for 2 minutes anyway.
If you just sit on him there's no buff timer, but I can confirm you auto jump off after 2 minutes.

Can confirm that in patch 10.0.5 you can still right click the riding buff to remove it, then dismount, and feed the Tasty Mawshrooms consecutively in quick succession. Checked with progress macro after each Mawshroom fed, and I was given the mount after 10 fed to him.

As of May 2023 the drop rate (and since Korthia is now much less crowded, spawn rate) is still god-awful. I only discovered tonight that I'd lost my progress on this quest and the other, and told Blizzard to just increase the drop rate in my bug report instead of trying to restore players' progress.

I was 7/10 before Dragonflight. Now we're nearing the end of season 2 DF and I've ended up getting exalted and multiple covenant mounts in Korthia over time, and still haven't found my 8th tasty Mawshroom. :(

This makes no sense. I got 6 of them in like 2 weeks which is normal if drop rate is like 5% and you can loot 5 of them every day. But since I got 6, I cannot drop even one more... for weeks... It's like all of the sudden the drop rate changed with the progress you made. And seeing the comments there, I am not the only one. Anyone figured out what is going on?

The theory is when you deleted some of them ( back then I did deleted them because I had no clue of their use and they took bag space ), that you wouldn't drop any, some people lost progress so it's like Blizzard tried to fix this issue somehow? But now it is bugued again and I really doubt Blizzard would do anything about it.

Edit: I dropped 1 today, there is still a long road but I am relieved it dropped. I have 7/10. I guess it is not bugued, but really difficult to drop any.

Could they have a bugged droprate for 70s? I was really struggling to loot these on my 70, have been in Korthia for about a month and I had only looted 2 despite getting all the mawshrooms every day. Brought my level 60 to Korthia and they got all the mawshrooms in less than a week, with at least 2 days where I looted 2 and even one day where I looted 3.

If you're really struggling to get these, maybe give it a try with a level 60 and see if you have better luck.

The year is 2064. WoW is currently in its 31st expansion. We've gained and rolled back hundreds of levels, beaten the void lords, Sargeras thrice, and we even lived through the jailer's redemption. We have more than 5000 mounts available, but I keep going back to Korthia for the elusive Darkmaul, as I have yet to find a fourth Tasty Mawshroom.

I collected only 1 farming it for 2 weeks. I then paused for like 2 months and when I came back I received 3 in one day. I thought the drop rate changed but I was receiving one every other day after that.
Feeding the mushroom, dismounting, canceling the buff and feeding it again still works. I gave him all 10 mushrooms at once. Finally got him

Is it just me or did anyone else lose all their mawshrooms? Took my main over to Korthia today and happened to get one, but the few others i gathered over the years appear to be gone. HandyNotes shows Darkmaul at 0/10... unless I'd given them to Darkmaul and it lost my progress? (Reminds me of when I lost my Uldum Friendly Alpaca progress when Shadowlands came out...)

I don't have any definitive proof that this is a bug, but I recently got back into grinding SL mounts and never saw a Tasty Mushroom drop on the toon that I did almost all of SL with. I had 6 in my inventory for a very long time, even after daily looting all the Mawshrooms I could. Then I got the addon Baganator, and noticed I did have 10 total, but the other four were on two other characters (one with three, one with one). I was wondering if the game was considering me to have all 10 even though they weren't on one toon, so I took a shot in the dark and deleted the other four Mawshrooms that were on the characters I had no intention of going back to SL with.

And today, on the second mushroom I looted, I got the first Tasty Mawshroom to drop for me in a long time. This is purely anecdotal, I can't say for sure this is a bug or solves the issue, I might have just had a lucky drop today. But if you have a toon you 100% plan to get Darkmaul on, and if you have alts that have Tasty Mawshrooms in their bags that makes your total across all your characters equal 10, it might be worth going all in on the one toon and deleting the Mawshrooms on your alts to see if it improves the droprate.

EDIT: Just got another Mawshroom from the third mushroom loot today, minutes after posting this.

Been doing this grind for months. Getting 1 tasty mawshroom every ~2 monthsish.

Suddenly after todays reset, I looted 4 out of 5 invasive mawshroom spawns. Did they fix it?
