After having this shard for a few days, I can confirm that damn near anything even remotely "helpful" can activate it - I've had it go off when I cast Tame Beast, when I've opened a Mawsworn Cache in Korthia, and even when I just mounted up. Frankly, it's rather annoying.

I just checked this out and tested it and this gem SUCKS in really any setting. It only procs once per minute on ANY target. I don't mean once per minute per target. Once per minute overall. That means you get ~1500 health drained from an enemy every minute, even in a raid setting with 20+ raiders. That is completely negligible. Why even add an effect to this gem? That is absolutely nothing. Someone please tell me I'm wrong about this.

I don't want anyone making this mistake! Because it is a tad misleading! The Shards CAN be destroyed if you removed them from the Domination Socket incorrectly!

You will need the Soulfire Chisel for 2,500 Stygia to remove the Shards safely from the socket. If you just try putting one Shard in over another, it will delete the Shard that's already been socketed and you will likely have to recover it from the item restoration process!

The heal from the proc for this is called "Siphon Essence", for those looking in the logs for how helpful it is.

For those who have shards of domination and wish to upgrade them (there are 5 ranks for each shard).

1. Travel to Korthia
2. Talk to Bonesmith Heirmir (when you port into Korthia, he's pretty much right in front of the portal back into Oribos... just to a /tar bone to locate him)
3. Upgrade your shard to the next level... then close the trade window with him.
4. Open the trade window with him again and the next level will be available.

This is not explained anywhere and couldn't figure out how to upgrade it, until I did the above.

For me, the upgrade shard was always in the bottom right corner of the first page, until I needed to purchase rank 5... that was on the last page.
