I've logged over 100 kills of Solakar Flamewreath (for my priest tier 0 shoulders) and have never seen this drop. If you get this pattern, nevermind the trinket, you're very lucky. If you happen to be a fire mage who comes up against this trinket, I sure hope you have Spell Alert as you'll probably own yourself ;)

Aha, this drops as of 4.3. Just got it first try after trying for more than 50 tries on my mage. Sending to my 60 twink :)

Proof (Check the chat, first you hear the boss yelling then you see the loot. Take note: Not one other green/blue item dropped EXCEPT the recipe, so it must be independent to other items):

Finally got this, I was leveling a horde toon and this dropped while in a random dungeon in BRS. I then gave it to a pal who then placed it in a neutral AH (Misha), I switched to my Ally engineer and pick it up. After I don't know how many tries I finally got it, I'm happy so say that the hunt for this one is over. Good luck and happy hunting.

This schematic used to drop from Solakar Flamewreath (the boss of the Father Flame event in Upper Blackrock Spire) before the dungeon was revamped for Warlords of Draenor.

The battle took place in The Rookery and was often skipped when it was current due to it's complexity; six waves of two dragonkin each and then the boss, but the room was full of dragon eggs that would spawn whelps repeatedly and could easily overwhelm the party.

This particular boss and room are where the famous Leeroy Jenkins video was staged.

The schematic is no longer obtainable unless bought from another player or the AH.
Engineers can still craft this item if the schematic was learned and it can still be learned if you can get your hands on one.
