Well, apparently these come from Maw quests now. Someone who isn't there and isn't named Ve'nari certainly isn't giving quests that reward these. My conservatory is certainly nowhere near testing the contents, though, are these just renamed Untamed Spirits?

new in 9.0.5 when acquired from Ve'nari weekly/daily maw quests this gives you a random greater spirit of a covenant. I obtained three of these and what went into my bags was a Greater Tamed Spirit, Greater Pride Spirit and Greater Martial Spirit.

Basically,

You can no longer choose which sprit reward you want from these quests.

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that "slumbering spirit" is just their way of saying "you have a chance to get any one of the four kinds of spirits, and the one that you get is random." (That is, "slumbering spirit" probably isn't a new, fifth kind of spirit - rather it probably just implies that all spirits are slumbering, and you don't know which specific one you'll get as the quest reward).
