I think we need to wait for Fallo doppio! to be able to start looking for Cacciatore d'Anime dei Giurafauce I actually tried go far into the zone and it was not pleasant so don't try that yet.

I killed the elite mob Segugio d'Ombra Rimpinzato today on 02.12.2020 inside the maw.

Yes, it was simply an elite and not a silver dragon rare.

It was part of an event where you first have to kill 6 packs of mobs. Each pack had two Shadehounds and one elite caster mob.

First the boss was not attackable but after the 6 packs death he ran into a cave and was attackable. At 52% HP he jumped one floor deeper into the cave and you could follow him down with a chain.

Inside the cave there are stones on the floor Attenuatore Stigio that you can pick up and use. They summon a crystal that gives a +20% dmg taken debuff to the dog and -20% for the players around him.

Best of all, the mob does not regenerate its HP when you die! So I could kill him alone as a hunter, even with the red eye of the Jailer.

The dog is part of this achievement: Gruppo di caccia

I guess the events rotate daily and the mob is probably not always there.

AND it did not drop the mount Cacciatore d'Anime dei Giurafauce...

1 x Pelle Deturpata
5 x Carne Vacua

How do you ask? Well, I went into the maw again yesterday (02.12.20) to see what is in the area above the Beastwarrens zone, more about that later.

But then I saw that the hunt event was available for me again. So I killed the boss again.

This time there was only grey vendor trash as loot.

This morning after the EU reset the event was again available for me, probably because of the hotfix from Blizzard.
So I killed the boss for the third time and this time the loot was white cooking ingredients and grey vendor trash.

The zone above the Beastwarrens zone is called "Desmotaeron" and the only thing I found there was DEATH.

When I entered the zone I was not very attentive when I noticed it I was already dead.
There is a debuff called, I only have the german name and I couldn't find it at wowhead, "Grabeskälte".

The toooltip says every 2sec you get 5603 frost damage, but in reality it was only 5400dmg.

I have seen one elite mob that looked like the typical maw caster mob but it was lvl61 and had 1278k HP...

Seems like they disabled the event to prevent people from getting the mount prematurely. I spent half an hour next to it, the mobs are unattackable and there is nothing you can do or click to trigger it, as far as I could tell.

You can obtain this mount rarely (1.5%ish according to wowhead DB) on the ELITE Segugio d'Ombra Rimpinzato inside The Maw in "The Beastwarrens" part. He's part of an event called Hunt : Shadehounds in which you will have 6 packs of 3 adds to kill and then the elite becomes attackable. After all 6 packs are dead, he runs into the cave behind him and becomes attackable. Come with a little group because he has 559k health and he hits for a bit (2 or 3 people should be enough if you have a tank or pets). At 50%, he runs even deeper in the cave. You can click the chains to make you jump through the hole not taking any fall damage.

This mount has the particularity to be ridable in The Maw (the only two others mounts which are ridable inside of The Maw are Orrore dei Cunicoli that you can obtain by finishing "Twisting Corridors" wing in Torghast at Layer 8 and Segugio d'Ombra Vincolato (unlocked at 9.0.5) that you can "craft" doing a complete puzzle in the Maw, more information here).

You DO can access this part from the beginning but you will have to deal with Strilli Ultraterreni that will periodically fear you for a few seconds and deal HUGE amount of damage (60-70% of your life).

You will not have this deadly debuff anymore in "The Beastwarrens" by using Codice dell'Indebolimento that you will receive doing the quest Regola 6: l'occultamento è fondamentale that you will get once you reach "Ambivalent" reputation level with Ve'nari. HOWEVER, you DO can drop the mount even without having reached Ambivalent (and quest) reputation. But you will have to deal with the fears and big damage.

As of 9.1 and Korthia release, if you do the 3rd chapter of the Korthia campaign (Focusing the Eye), you will not have to deal with The Eye of the Jailer anymore and so you will not have to deal with a deadly debuff, making it much easier to do your trys every 2 weeks. For your 60 alts, you can skip up to 3rd chapter of Korthia Campaign thanks to skip by speaking up at Gran Signore Bolvar Domadraghi. (He offers 3 subsequent skips : First two chapters of your covenant campaign, then first 3 chapters of Korthia campaign and then first 3 chapters of Zereth Mortis campaign; the skip which is important to have an easy access to this rare is the Korthia one)

This elite is killable on a hunt-bi-weekly rotation, like 8.3 invasions (and their rares). So, killable ONE time in 3.5 days and then not killable for 10.5 days (others hunts during that time). Killing him will also grant you 525 reputation to Ve'nari ~~and one complete level with the Eye of the Jailer.~~ . You can follow the next occurence of the event in the "Today in WoW" / SL category of Wowhead.

TL:DR : To get this mount : ~~Reach "Ambivalent" reputation level with Ve'nari, do the Rule 6 quest, unlock Beastwarrens part of the Maw,~~ Do the event and kill Segugio d'Ombra Rimpinzato bi-weekly, it means killable ONE time in 3.5 days and then not killable for 10.5 days (others hunts during that time).
For your alts, mind speaking to Gran Signore Bolvar Domadraghi, skip the Korthia campaign, so you don't have the Eye of the Jailer mechanic in the Maw which could destroy you in a few seconds.

If you are a mount collector, your best bet to get this mount fast is to multiply your 60 alts as you "only" have 26 attempts per year and per character (1week/2).

This mount dropped today for me. The great thing is that the mount goes into the mount collection. So every char on your account can use it in the Maw. The mount itself shares the same model and mountspecial as bears. I submitted two screenshots that should be up soon.

Armored Bonehoof Tauralus - This can be bought from the Necrolord Renown Vendor OR rarely looted from the indariver as I was halfway through the list of mounts and found their comments which helped me finish up the other half of the list. :)

i just join like 3 groups and it didnt phase me automatically, so i figure out u have to hearth out and run back to the area to get into the same phase with the leader....no idea if they gonna fix this as well...

If you are fortunate enough to have this mount it seems that being in the Maw and using Agrifoglio Conservato while riding it will dismount you (and continue to dismount you) while the buff is active.

It would seem not even Greatfather Winter is powerful enough to summon his mount in the Maw.

This dropped for me today on 30/12. I did it on my main first and did not get a drop. I was a little discouraged and took my Warrior alt who has done NOTHING in the maw except unlock the runecarver for the campaign, took one of the bridled hounds, ran to the event in the beastwarrens. I kept being feared so I brought food in between fears to not die from the damage, once the dog is unleashed you can tag it and get a chance at it dropping!

This is huge for mount farmers who dont wanna farm the rep on 20-50 chars! Just bring food/healer friend or something and go for it! Proof of it dropping: https://i.imgur.com/9wOTh1Q.png

Unfortunately, Summon Random Favorite Mount does not understand the mount restrictions in the Maw, and will not be smart enough to prioritize this mount when you're there. You can use this macro to prioritize it in the Maw and fall back to Summon Random Favorite Mount otherwise:

Get "Ambivalent" with Ve'nari reputation and complete Ve'nari quests until Regola 6: l'occultamento è fondamentale and All'inseguimento negli antri to get Fallo doppio!
Wait for the event Hunt: Shadehounds (weekly rotation with another The Maw events)
During Hunt: Shadehounds event complete all steps until kill the Elite Segugio d'Ombra Rimpinzato (this elite has chance to drop the mount Cacciatore d'Anime dei Giurafauce)
Hope for drop the mount. Drop Chance: 1.35%

This mount has the particularity to be ridable in The Maw.
The rewards from Segugio d'Ombra Rimpinzato can be looted once a week.

Seems that the model is the exact same as the Corridor Creeper one that is a reward from completing layer 8 of twisting corridors. I'd say that's way, way easier to achieve, took me a day to do it given that layer runs tend to go for 1-2 hours each at some point.

After reading Sammyknight's comment down below, I tried to farm the hound the way he did. I unlocked the Beastwarrens on my main, but nothing on my 3 alts (On 2 I unlocked the runecarver, on the third nothing).

IT IS possible to go to the Beastwarrens and tag the Hound for a chance at this mount. All you need is a character that is able to heal himself (Protection paladin and balance druid work just fine, tested this myself), and on characters that don't have any forms of self heal, just buy food and eat mid fears (Death knight).

Other points:

- The Hunt is NOT visible on the map, or the minimap. You also don't see progress on your UI. I never waited for more than 10 minutes though, so it's not that bad.
- The fear lasts around 6 seconds, and it drains exactly half of your hp. It's not number based, but % based, meaning the dot was hitting way harder on my DK tank, than it was on my balance druid. It drains exactly 49% of the hp if you don't get hit by anything else.
- I have the Corridor creeper mount, making it way easier to get to the area. One thing however I advise, is that when you get close to the hound area, dismount. The fear on the mount is so fast, and will most likely pull mobs that hit quite hard, while the fear on your normal speed on the other hand, is managable.
- I always park myself just at the entrance of the cave where the hound flees upon completing the first part of the event. Out of 40 fears, not a single one pulled a mob, so it was all good.
- Upon killing the hound and looting it, the Rarity normally counts the attempts. Also Sammyknight and others have proved, that you can obtain the mount even if you don't have the Beastwarrens unlocked.
- I still don't have the mount though. Will update for sure when (if) I receive it.

As of 01/29/21:

BEWARE if you are close enough to the event that your party kills the Shadehound before you are in range it will complete the hunt but it will not allow you to loot it.

This is my ticket response:

"Upon further investigation, the reason for it is they were too far away, but you're still able to get credit or reputation. Next, you have to draw threat from the boss. For you to be eligible for the rewards. You are going to have to wait until next week and kill them again for a chance at loot.

What I can suggest is, the next time you and your party will start a quest. Make sure that everyone everyone will be able to participate, so everyone will get the reward. Communication is the key. "

Here is a macro that will mount up with a maw mount if you are in the maw. If you are not in the maw, then it selects a flyable mount if in a flyable zone. if not in a flyable zone, then it picks a ground mount. The mount IDs for the 3 shadehounds are included if you want to swap them out.

This mount will be much easier to farm in 9.1 as a lot of the maw (like rep and the animaflow travel) will be accountwide so you can travel there without fear of being feared (you see what I did there lol)

Dropped this mount last night on my 35'th attempt. It dropped for me on a character which did not have access to the beastwarrens area. As a matter of fact it was a level 60 fresh toon, so i can confirm it still drops in 9.0.5 just by tagging the mob without having any reputation at all. Happy hunting!

Easily (although not particularly rapidly) soloable as a 225 Protection Warrior. I didn't even have to use Kyrian vials, just keep Shield Block up as much as possible and he can't out damage the healing from Indomitable.

There is a bug with the Hunt: Shadehounds event in which the event gets stuck on some servers and it cannot be completed. If you experience that, your best bet is to try to find a Shadehound group on another server because it won't spawn on yours.

if you came with locked event when goal doesn't show up (without reputation + quest rule 6) and you kill adds for goal (even in a group and with a party leader on another), the event will not start and the hound will remain neutral, you need to wait until someone else will kills adds with an open hunt and then event will start

Hard to solo farm this when the event bugs out.

Day #1: Got all my alts to solo kill him.
Day #2: Two alts got their kill before the event disappeared.

I was able to join Morgeth groups to server hop to a realm where the event was not bugged and managed to solo the event/boss in time befotre the group disbanded, but now? Zero groups for Mor'geth.

The only "event" that lasts 24hrs because after that it will bug out and disappear.

Been like this since 2020.

Get it done on day #1, otherwise you're screwed.

As of 10.0, this is still buggy. You can tell if it is broken when the event is stuck in the "kill the boss" phase. Easiest solution is to start joining random groups in the group finder and hope they don't also have a bugged event.

did they change this so you HAVE to be on the quest now? ive been trying to do it on my alts (which i normally have no issue with) but once all the adds are dead nothing happens, they just respawn after a short time, was able to do it via a group though. kinda annoying

For people who are farming this mount you need to complete the questline to unlock the hunt. This was a weekly questline of about 6 parts so will take about 6 weeks if they havent nerfed it (which I don't think they have).
This boss also scales to your level. At level 60 this boss has 700k hp. At level 70 this boss has 1290k hp. I don't know why Blizzard has made this scale but its very annoying as it takes a while to kill on a fresh level 70.

Just adding a note because this is certainly one of those mounts that can drive people insane - looted today after 200ish attempts on a level 61 character that did not have the hunt "unlocked." The alt had only done the quest skips to unlock Korthia, but had not otherwise progressed the Maw to the point where the hunt itself is visible on the map.

Finally got it today after 220 tries on 60 level alt with no quests completed. I didnt saw the event progress (on the right side of the screen) so i think u dont need to have completed any special quests. GL

Not sure if this is bugged or not, but for the last two days or so, I've camped the spawn area for about an hour each time and the adds you need to kill first never spawned.

Writing this as someone leveling alts with the buff atm, leveled two 60-70s today and tried to work this out.

No Ven rep, never been to the maw before. Nothing

WM ON. Kill the 5/6 adds that that are required that you were doing the event. Dudes that are shooting blue / white light in the groud .. there is 5 or 6. Wait a bit and they big guy will get loose.

Killed it. Got it on my 2nd attempt! So rept isn't required, dont need the event unlocked just the adds up. Can still drop mount

EDIT: Yes, the biweekly event needs to be up. You can check the wowhead front page for that. And technically it was my 8th attempt but 6 were done during SL.

Utter garbage. its up once every 2 weeks and you get one chance in that time per character

then you gotta deal with the bugs, forget doing this with warmode off

but wait, even with war mode on you can go and kill all the required mobs but the gorged shadehound might not trigger so you stand there waiting for nothing

out of 8 characters, I was able to kill it with 3. 2 of which were on an RP realm, the rest on Elune where it seemed to bug out for everyone after my first kill.

put a ticket in with blizzard and they will tell you to reset your UI, or disable add ons, or go online and find the solution yourself. Press further and they will have no answer but they will refuse to actually admit its bugged and that the issue is on their end.

why cant blizzard fix their own game, its clearly bugged but they do nothing. too busy with cube crawls and harassing women to fix anything.

It's still bugged as of 10.1.5. - in about 40% of time you will need to wait for mobs to respawn after killing them since the event doesnt trigger every time

So basically any time I get into the Maw, it is stuck at the "Defeat the gorged shadehound" meanwhile elite is nowhere to be seen. Idk maybe set an event that is every 30 minutes triggered and spawned fresh?

Another week to try and get the mount and seems bugged again. WM OFF, WM ON... nothing. So basically really low drop chance mount that you can farm once every month if you are lucky.... How have they not fixed this yet.

Seems to be up these couple of days. But have only seen it with WM On. This time, characters that don't see the event, don't trigger the Gorged Shadehound to go in to the cave after killing the adds around. And I am 100% sure this has worked in the past.

I have come to hopefully alleviate some confusion for other folks. I have been putting off this farm for multiple reasons, the biggest two being 1) not high enough renown with Venarii to get the Hunts unlocked and 2) countless reports of buggy shards. Earlier today someone in the WoW achievements discord said that all you needed was a toon that had the Maw unlocked and you could go kill the Gorged Shadehound. So, I one by one I took my alt army to the Beastwarrens, killed the six different groups of mobs (1 summoner/2 hounds) and after the sixth, the Gorged Shadehound "became loose" and I was able to follow it into the tunnel to fight it. 12 alts later, I got the mount to drop.

details if it helps those: all twelve toons had WARMODE ON. Six of them were on US Korgath and the other six/where the mount dropped were on US Tichondrius. All toons were level 70. Only thing they have unlocked in the maw was the ability to participate in Covenant Assaults.

A quick fix for alts with 0 Ve'nari rep, just wait till someone comes and activates the event and join them in the fight!

This event bugging has nothing to do with Venari rep and seeing the event. I did it on every alt (skipped to Korthia, nothing unlocked) wm on/off last time with no problem solo (no other person around who maybe unlocked it). The week before coudn't do it on 2 chars cause of the bug. This week no character can do the event, every shard wm on/off is bugging. So it's pure random.

With bug I mostly mean the dog not triggering after killing every summoner. But one time there wasn't even a dog spawning and quest said "kill the dog", and that was on my main who did everything.

Typically I can just pop on an alt on another realm, hop in a Warmode shard, etc., and usually it's only an issue towards the end of the event's 3 day reset.

Well, that all changed today. It is now up for the first time since 10.2.5 launched and I have been unable to get this event to work on any of my alts across several realms and warmode on/off. The quest that usually pops up, regardless of whether the event bugged, isn't popping up.

It is actually insane to me how many patches have gone by and they still have not fixed this event. Not only is it a pain to unlock on each character, but you have to wait about 2 weeks to even be able to do it, the mount is a 1-2% drop rate, and the event is bugged almost every single time it's up with no groups in sight to server hop. Throw in the Colossal Plaguespew Mawrat off of Rhuv and several other gated mounts, and Shadowlands is literally the definition of disrespecting a players time.

Interesting fact : i noticed that on my alts (who did the skip, unlocked korthia etc) i didn't see the event at all. BUT if you go at the spot, you can see the beast, even if the event doesn't trigger on the "quest list" on the side. so i decided to still kill the 6 rituals, and the hound became attackable, and so on. So, it means that even if you don't see the event and it doesn't trigger on your alt, you still can do it anyway.

EDIT : well idk why but as for now, my alts can't trigger the event now, i kill the 6 ritual but nothing happens now... so yeah maybe it's glitched after all ? no idea why

Today i managed to bug this event. I came there on my character that does not have access to beastwarrens, but did korthia skip. Event was active (though i couldn't see a progress of it), so i killed 6 packs of mobs that have to be killed - no result.
I decided to try to trigger next stage on my main, who's got everything unlocked. All 6 packs were alive, i killed them, which triggered next stage of event.
Then i relogged back on my first character. Shadehound was waiting in cave, so i started killing at. At 50% it DIDNT jump down the hole as it should, so i killed it on top level of cave and got loot from it.
Then i relogged on my main again, who's now stuck on last stage of event - "kill shadehound" or something. But shadehound i spawned is already dead.
I've waited around 30 min, event still stuck on last stage, and shadehound is obviously dead, so i can't complete that stage. New wave of mobs does not spawn aswell, so event is bugged now.
Here we are, begging for bug fixes for 3+ years old expansion..
Edit: 4 hours later event still was bugged (stuck on last stage on my main), waiting for daily reset now.
Edit2: After daily reset it's still stuck on last stage for my main, no new mobs are spawning :D
