These are found on the ground in the pods all over Dire Maul, watch out when you open them though because they can sometimes kill you if you don't have that much health.

If you are following the cooking 1-300 powerlevel guide that Wowhead links to, you might be at the point where you need these for the recipe to level your cooking (Runn Tum Tuber Surprise). Blizzard added new recipes in patch 2.4 which can be bought from the general goods guy in Bloodvenom Post, Felwood.

The new recipes use bear flank, and despite what wowhead says the drop rate is fantastic on it. I didn't need to run Dire Maul repeatedly at this point to get this item, and neither do you. Just kill some bears in the same southern area of Felwood you get tender wolf meat and giant eggs from.

Its name might be a reference to Rum Tum Tugger, a character mainly known from the musical Cats. In many productions, he is portrayed as a white cat, which is the also used as the colour of Runn Tum Tubers.

The cat has roots in the poems found in "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T. S. Elliot.

If you milk the Looking For Dungeon tool then cooking these is the easiest route to 300 cooking. Simply pick up every green pod you see (back away quickly incase it's a gas trap, they hurt) and over the course of a few runs, you'll have plenty to see you from 275 to 300. The recipe itself is easy to get; a guaranteed drop from the Imp in Dire Maul East... and if you're anything like me, you will get a lot of DME groups. You can queue+teleport to DME from anywhere and it saves you having to farm worms in Silithus or fish in Azshara. It's probably still the best route for a non-fishing 80, too.

It's guaranteed orange to 300. You'll need 25 at most. What's more, it remains orange into the 300's... although by that point you will probably find ravager flesh and buzzard meat easier to come by.

Seems to be removed as of patch 4.0.1a.. or atleast missing. Looted every Warpwood Pod in the instance, not a single Tuber, alot of Thornling Seedlings though..

They still drop, just at a lower rate, but an increased number per drop. Got 41 in two runs. Kinda sucks if you run with another Cook on the team. I would rather every pod drop a Tuber like before.s

Had cooking 275 when I entered. While I was walking up to Pusilin and talking to him I looted around 5 pods...Which dropped NO tubers...

Once I killed him the pods immediantly started dropping tubers...You need to KNOW the recipe before you can loot tubers.

Still here as of Patch 4.1, but as mentioned previously, the drop rate can be rather unforgiving. I went most of the East Wing without seeing a single tuber from the pods, then I got quite a few one after the other with a nice amount in each.

Left the instance with 50 tubers, well more than enough to finish up cooking to 300. :)

I found after fallowing the imp on the far left side of the main floor just inside the Warpwood Quarter entrance. I looted 38 tubers out of the pods along the way down to where Pusillin is standing on the bottom floor. I was at level 62 worrior tank, Prot spec and I soloed this.

10 tubers from first pod in Diremaul east... Accidentally fell down from floor crack but then looted what i could from downstairs. 1 quick run for 310 cooking wasn't that bad, and the recipe would still be yellow. But now Outland awaits.

It's easy to tell the pods that drop tubers from the ones that spawn a cloud of green gas and a warp lasher: the tuber pods have a cogwheel on mouseover, and the others don't. You may occasionally get a Thornling Seed instead of tubers.

You do NOT need to learn Recipe: Runn Tum Tuber Surprise for these to drop. On a level 37 character with 267 Cooking, I looted at least 10 before even getting to Pusillin.
