Is this garbage? Ignoring the fact that Wowhead gives the wrong damage values for this item (it's actually something like 2-3k damage over 15seconds, proving at about 500 damage each second, and returning about 400 as health*) I have yet to see this thing work even once. Given the only stat it gives is +45 Mastery, if the proc is either stupidly rare or broken I don't think this is worth it even if your class really loves Mastery - when you could emply even a mediocre main stat trinket instead :/

The blurb states "can only occur once every 15 seconds" but there is no mention of a proc percetage, kinda implying it is always active, and simply has a cooldown. But yeah, have yet to seen this happen - but 20% health is pretty low for trash mobs given they are all just squishy for my unholy DK with his skills, and pets. Ironic, since Unholy DK love Mastery..

Compared to say the Rotbriar Sprout with it's claim of "very low chance" ability (damned thing procs like every other mob in my experience) plus the randomizded(?) Main stat (mine is +31, but Wowhead claims +40**) surely the stinger is garbage, right? Previously, I had the sprout paired with Vial of Caustic Liquid with it's "low chance" ability (which in my experience procs just as often as sprout, if not moreso) also with a randomized(?) Main stat (mine is +28, Wowhead claims +37**) which was evident in it's usefulness, so I'm thinking of retiring the stinger, and reinstating the vial in it's place.

I have also picked up a green trinket that is also a main stat with a half-decent proc ability, but if stinger is broken, even that is probably better :/

EDIT: Never mind, it appears this does actualy proc. I checked my battle log after a few recent fights to be awarded with "your Leeching Sting damages X mob for X amount of damage" and "Your Leeching Sting healed you for X amount" Not sure how often this occurs as of yet, but of the combat entries, a lot of trash mobs were murdered without a proc, and the only listed entries were for a named Elite boss NPC - thought it did trigger twice on the guy given it's a DoT effect. That said, please note these procs were both only about 1/6 of the total damage capable each because it's a proc effect

I am guessing this may be useful for dungeons, raids and PVP, but not so much for leveling, farming etc

on a zero health target dummy it procs constantly from ranged or melee attacks,
outperforming incendiary ammunition or mark of the hidden satyr.

The Leeching Sting dot ticks 5 times, for 1/5 of the displayed damage, it can't crit.
