Took me a second, but you have to go to the zone that is currently under a Black Empire Assault. Which for me was Vale of Eternal Blossom and not Uldum. So if you don't see any quest objective on your mini map, check the other zone.
As far as collecting the crystallized void itself, they seem to spawn around the tentacles and eyes/blisters on the ground.

edit: In Uldum, under the Black Empire Assault, the crystallized void also spawns around Void Tears and on patches of the ground that have the purple/black void.. patches. The closest and easiest area to get them is directly behind Ramkahen, where you pick up the quest.
edit: thank you to BradyBunch- the crystallized void is not a drop from mobs. You pick them up directly from the ground and they are quest highlighted.

Look for the large (not enemy) tentacles around the map, they typically have them around them. They should glow.

also look for the purple crack on the ground like a lightning strike. they started respawning on them now.
