To unlock the toy N'lyeth, Scaglia di N'zoth, you will first need to turn War Mode on and become an Assassino dell'Alleanza or Assassino dell'Orda by killing 10 players of the opposite faction without dying in Kul Tiras or Zandalar. The moment you reach Assassin, you will be offered a new quest from an unseen presence (presumably N'Zoth himself), requesting you to prove your worth to him by slaying members of your own faction.

There are two versions of this quest: Il Servitore di N'zoth for Alliance players, and Il Servitore di N'zoth for Horde players.

By accepting the quest, you will receive N'lyeth, Scaglia di N'zoth, which can be used to transform your character into a Servitore di N'zoth, but be careful - Using the item will damage you by 60% of your maximum health, so make sure you're fully healed before using it! The effect is quite cool, covering your character in tentacles and a void aura. The effect lasts for 1 hour.

The quest requires you to kill 10 of your own faction's members without dying. Dying at any point will automatically fail the quest, and you will need to reach Assassin again to start the quest over.

Completing the quest awards you a toy version of N'lyeth, Scaglia di N'zoth that allows you to become a Shath'yar without requiring reaching Assassin, as well as the Feat of Strength Servitore di N'zoth, which awards the title . According to N'lyeth, Scaglia di N'zoth description, you are able to become a Servant of N'Zoth in Kul Tiras, Zandalar, Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

A couple of things I’ve noticed and how I got this achievement done:

Shortly after you kill one or two of your own faction, there is a high probability that you will become bounty hunted. This makes killing people of your own faction difficult since you can’t fly and the opposite faction is chasing you down.

I was bouncing around Nazjatar trying to get it done, but would get overrun when the bounty on me happened.
I tried logging out for a bit to see if bounty would drop, it dropped the bounty, kept assassin, and dropped my quest.
Hearthing or teleporting to other BFA zones seems to also drop the quest.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could kill some of your faction and hide from the prying eyes of bounty hunters? You can!
But I recommend gathering some sacrifices, I mean a few friends, to help.
If you get 4 sacri-, er, friends, you can be done in 21 minutes after accepting your tentacles from N'Zoth.

This is a great week to get the toy because of Call to Arms: Nazjatar.

This place has been a favorite spot to hide while trolling. It’s also a perfect spot to hang out and bathe in your tentacly glory while you’re a bounty.

So. While you’re waiting here, invite 4 friends over to the mouth of the cave. I was able to invite them to group to make sure they were in the same shard as of today. Once they are there, have them take off all their gear, pop out of the cave for a few seconds, mow them all down with focusing iris, and make your way back to the safety of Mardivh’s lab.

Your buddies will have a 10 minute debuff not allowing their deaths to count towards your progress. They can put their gear back on and fly off to do other stuff and come back in 10 minutes for more laser to the face. Some will try to find you in the cave, but it’s been my experience that people chasing your bounty will just fly away, because they realize you’re trolling them in the cave. When your buddies come back, have them tell you when the coast is clear and mow them down again.

Repeat the process three times and you're done. This should take a little over 20 minutes after you use the sliver. Make sure you're at 100% HP before using it!

UPDATE: I've been reading other comments that say their quest item kills them. This leads me to believe that the Sliver of N'Zoth's damage effect can CRIT!
I noticed it hurting more than it should while trying to do the quest and didn't really put much thought into it. Sometimes it would chunk me down to about 15-20% health, but would never kill me. Even now that I have the toy it will chunk me every once in a while.

The only reason I think I have been surviving every time it crits is because my WPVP set has ~12% versatility. I highly suggest using a defensive or having a decent amount of versatility when you use the quest item/toy. Keep in mind that it is shadow damage.

Just completed it today in Uldum. I highly recommend if you are going to do it there then to pick a spot you can be safe while also getting the yellow disc buff. It does massive damage and I couldn't do it without it as a disc priest. Ideally the spot with the buff has lots of adds nearby to protect you. Once you swap forms the enemies won't aggro to you unless you aoe. They become neutral. So you can always fallback after a failed attempt because people won't likely run through 5 mobs to get you.

Makes you friendly to the enemy player (who also uses this item). You cannot understand each other and you cannot group invite nor trade. So this is not like it used to be during pre-wotlk event. :(

Whoever they can understand custom emotes.

One of the hardest trinket to have.
Specially if you are an alliance, once you become bounty billions of the horde will come for you, no mobs or a group can help you.
You can try on your horde character.
But this trinket is really super hard to have because of the bounty.

- Get the quest after killing 10 pvp enemies;
- Use the item;
- Turn warmode Off;
- Be allied of the N'zoth minions;
- Kill alliance/horde players in warmode off;
- Make them confused for the whole day! :D

I played with this toy a bit today after earning it, and I noticed that the guards in Mezzamere would still defend me so long as I didn't hit them with any attack. Furthermore, in a N'zoth-invaded zone (Vale today), all of N'zoth's minions turned yellow and would not attack unless they were attacked, even if I was fighting another minion in what would normally be aggro proximity. I did not test if linked mobs like the living infestations would all aggro when one was attacked.

A few observations from using this toy it has an hour Cd which lasts as long as the buff so if you do not die you can reapply the effect as soon as it expires.

another more interesting fact this basically puts you into a third faction EVERY and I mean every npc becomes neautral to you so you can wander into enemy camps with out worry about the guards causing you trouble I tested this my walking right into the middle of the trade district of kul'tiras it was players who killed my not npcs. I play on the horde so if you apply an orb of deception you might trick folks.

You also gain a new language "Shath'Yar" this replaces your basic or orcish and should let you speak to a player of the opposite faction but I have yet to test this since I have not met another daft fool with this item such as myself, it may also allow other interactions such as trading since when using this you can not trade with your own faction it says you are hostile kinda like the zombie form you could take during the wrath pre-event which me and a few friends were using to trade snakes and cats quickly between factions. *update* It does not let you trade sadly. But if you have the gift you can understand each other.

*update* after wandering around in borallus with this on every normally hostile npc guards included will ignore you, so if you want to explore these locations but lack a toon in the faction you can wander about with out a care in the world the sliver is your solution. So hordies can enjoy the sights of kul'tiras and alliance can experience zuldazar. One major caveat though the npcs may not give a damn about you at first, but if player attacks this will agro every guard onto you even if you do not fight back and you will likely die very quickly, so be stealthy when exploring or prep for a brawl.

I plan to do more testing as time goes on hopefully I can find some more interactions since this feels like it may be tied to a few secrets seeing how the world reacts it may also end up getting nerfed to hell by ActiBlizz for being too fun.

If you are hunting for this I'd suggest doing it in the Vale during N'Zoth assault instead of other zones.

The Vale is small enough that a hunting party can fly around and group up on someone rather quickly if a target is called for.
Next, once you all become Shat'Yar, hide in the cave leading to the boss.
You will be protected this way from flying assaults and have a number of adds neutral to you which can help with dpsing the target.
Also, this is a "must visit" place when doing the assault as others need to pass there to reach the assault boss which will make sure others come through and into your trap.

It is easier to do it in a group where you are all servants. If you all use it at the same time you will not lose your group.
Ask for friends and guildies to help with sacrificing themselves and ask in the zone chat aswell. In WM you do not always have a constant flow of people coming through and the servant buff is only 1 hour long.
If your friends/guildies have alts, maybe they can bring them as well.
I unfortunately got mine through friendly help and not by truly "earning it", but even then with a constant stream of friends sacrificing themselves to The Sleeper, it took me half an hour long so understand that it takes time and you are a bounty ALL THIS TIME. Every little bit helps.

Last thing, pass it forward, help others trying to get it. Break the faction walls and follow the whispers, Let the Truth be revealed !

do you or anyone you know want to get this pvp toy?

i have enough 120 toons with nazjatar unlocked to get it done for you fairly easily in that zone after one of the large zone pvp events. i'm willing to do it for you in exchange for one or more battle pets that i dont currently have. if you want to see my list of missing pets, please reply to this comment and we can connect in game or via discord etc. there are currently still lots of pretty easy ones that I'm missing, like profession pets, various vendor pets, etc. NA alliance only. this is handy to use when doing archaeology since mobs are neutral and you can survey in peace, downside is you will probably find people keep attacking you from both sides so it is debatable if these saves any time when doing archaeology as opposed to just turning warmode off

It seems as of 20/5/2020, the buff doesn't disappear anymore when changing zones.
Just hearthed back from Vale to Zuldazar and was astonished I could still attack the inn keeper.

Was doing quests in Nazj with this toy in use, did notice that I do not receive not only any rep but also no follower exp from completing quests, only currencies.

Great toy to use while farming herbs and ore in BFA zones!

This toy makes you neutral to most mobs that you come across in the BFA world. The reason that is AMAZING is that nothing aggros onto you while farming herbs and ores. You don't have to worry about getting dazed! You can avoid mobs 100%.

Granted... you are considered hostile to both alliance and horde but that's avoidable.

PSA: You will forfeit any reputation bonuses for doing activities while you have the buff from N'lyeth on. You can still do dailies and get the other rewards, but for stuff that's timegated like Unshackled follower reputation or other stuff, you will lose out on the reputation. It's best to do the quests, then drop the buff right before turning it in, if you decide to use the knife after all.

Can this be used during horrific visions to skip everything but bosses? Pretty poor wording,...so I really doubt it. I'll probably try later on today to actually laugh at my own stupidity. Free 5 mask here I come!

This is currently not an obtainable item as the quest appears to be broken and confirmed as so by a GM. Hopefully fixed soon.

Sorry for the continued trouble and concern with this quest. :/

I found forum threads with the same issue but I wasn't able to find a clear confirmed answer internally on if this is not being offered anymore intentionally or is a bug. It seems it is a bug as the quest appears accessible via my tools still so I've bug reported things up to Dev/Qa to be investigated Just keep an eye on the forums for updates to the topic and hopefully you an see this working here in the near future.

Do you have to be in war mode when performing its quest, or will visiting a mind-controlling dungeon boss and mowing down 3-4 guildies be sufficient?

Sadly this is now pretty much impossible to get. I spent the last 3 days looking around BFA areas for horde players to get the assassin buff, after finding enough horde players i killed around 11-15 of them only for me not to get the buff. its honestly a shame you are forced to PvP to get this toy and on top of that you can only get it in certain areas. All of this just because I didn't want to PvP in BFA.

As of 18th Apr 2023, this quest is still bugged. kill opposite faction for more than 20 times, became assissan and obtained title later. Keeps on killing but quest didnt pop up.
