This is the equivalent of Nightshade and Elethium ore for skinning. Most likely abundant in the Maw and rare everywhere else.

I've looted at least two of these that I've seen now, but neither appeared in my inventory. I'm level 59 with 150 in skinning and 56 in Leatherworking. Any clue why they aren't actually going to my inventory? Do you have to be max level first or something?

I found a bug in Ardenweald that is like a node. It gave 2 heavy callus hides and when it spawned a second time (about 30 minutes later on my skinning route) I got another 3 heavy callus hides from what appeared to be the same green grub/maggot looking bug on the side of a tree. If I see it again I will post the coords.

I have been farming leathers consistently for quite some time and I noticed the drop rate for heavy callous dropped significantly a week ago when they reworked some gathering professions. In the time it took me to get a stack of 20, I now get maybe 8ish.

Hi Guys,

if you want to farm some Pelle Callosa Pesante i recommend you the Area around 66 / 32 Ardenweald.
There are many Mobs like:
Falenarden Avvizzente
Cervo delle Rune del Pantano
Cerbiatto del Pantano Giovane
Decompostola Rimpinzata
Inseguitore dell'Ombra Affamato

While i farmed about 600x Cuoio Desolato they dropped 11x Pelle Callosa Pesante.
This means while you farm 1 Stack Cuoio Desolato they will drop about 3,667 Pelle Callosa Pesante Which is ok.
This took me like a bit more then an hour.

To sum this up in a gold Value (based on EU prices):

612x Cuoio Desolato x 2,53 = 1.548,36 Gold
21x Cuoio Desolato Pesante x 29,99 = 629,79 Gold
49x Pelle Callosa x 232,21 = 11.378,29 Gold
121x Osso Pallido x 2,26 = 273,46 Gold
11x Pelle Callosa Pesante x 2343,13 = 25.774,43 Gold
15x Costolette Tenebrose x 125,84 = 1887,6 Gold
12x Stinco Ombroso x 54,55 = 654,6 Gold
2x Cosciotto Ectoplasmico x 10,86 = 21,72 Gold
8x Carne di Strisciante x 86,81 = 694,48 Gold

This doesnt Sound much, but it is the EU Avg. Pricing e,g. on my Server EU-Thrall
this whole bunch of stuff got a value of ~70.000 Gold. So Check out your Server Prices.

I recommend you to farm the Cervo delle Rune del Pantano Cerbiatto del Pantano Giovane because they drop Costolette Tenebrose
and this is the most expensive crafting reagent at the moment.

best spot to farm in Bastion at 56.2 37.3

Hands down best farming is in Bastion but only when the world quest Condizioni di siccità is up (good to have the WoW companion to check for this). Then you head down from Hero's Rest and just kill Etherwyrms to your heart's content AND skin the ones that other questers leave behind.

Do me a favor after you do though...help me lower the awful prices on the market for some of this leather! :)

Like slicktips said comment before me. The best place is in Bastion @51.38, 41.06 while WQ Condizioni di siccità is up!
I farmed 2sets about 1hour each.
Both sets included I got about:
4200 Cuoio Desolato
1000 Osso Pallido
100 Cuoio Desolato Pesante
400 Pelle Callosa
50 Pelle Callosa Pesante
250 Ala Serafica Grezza
400 Piume Elisie Kyrian Ascended Crafting
2,5k Gold from trash & greens

I was in Guardian spec and pulled as many Etherwyrms I could.

9.05 patch (in patch 9.1 the drops are the same.....)

The nerf on Pelle Callosa Pesante is insane,the drop is reduced drastically...

After 1,5 hours of faming on world quest i got this :

15 x Pelle Callosa Pesante

153 x Pelle Callosa

55 x Cuoio Desolato Pesante

1219 Cuoio Desolato

325 x Osso Pallido

153 Pelle Callosa = 15,3 Pelle Callosa Pesante

so u get 20 Pelle Callosa Pesante and hour... which is 5 exp on ur runecarver rank and u need 450 over all exp to level to rank 4. U need to craft 45 times runecarver to reach max rank(with each rank needed items increases) on 1 runecarver item ! So it means,that u need around 90 hours on spot like this,where u can just loot them,because every one around in this area are killing mobs. Correction,if the runecarver is chest u need 15 x Pelle Callosa Pesante for 5 exp to reach rank 2,to reach rank 3 u need 24 x Pelle Callosa Pesante and for last rank in this patch u need 36 x Pelle Callosa Pesante
To level ur runecarver to rank 4 you need 1125 x Pelle Callosa Pesante (more than half is needed to enchant into Pelle Callosa Pesante Incantata )

This is freaking unreal ! These nerfs are way too crazy ! When shadowlands went live, every 8ish mob dropped 1 x Pelle Callosa Pesante, now i calculated how often it drops and avarage drop rate after looting 150 x Pelle Callosa Pesante was, every 18,3 skinned mob dropped 1 x Pelle Callosa Pesante this is NUTS !

Anima-Starved Wyrm and Cloudrift Runner- ! Allay Their Fears at Bastion

Pest Removal quest in Ardenweald is an extremely good way to farm leather and hides. Both the Mature Gorms you need to kill for the quest as well as the mobs that spawn from removing the Burrowing Mites, can be skinned.

Whenever that World Quest is up I usually just fly around and skin the mobs that people completing the World Quest are killing. If enough people are busy with the quest then you can effectively fly around non-stop from mob to mob and skin them without needing any downtime (which is usually the case, especially if there is currently an Ardenweald Calling happening while the World Quest is up)
