Tonight during my weekly MC pug run, this dropped... 6 rogues, 2 mages a warlock a warrior tank and a holy priest.
Warrior rolled a 67, I rolled a 73, which beat everybody but the priest. Upon looting it to myself the priest and rogues got !@#$ed off I "ninjad" the item to myself.
People... this not a "lulz I want an achievement" item.. this is a very rare very cool oldworld Orange... ninjaing or even rolling on a character that cannot equip it... is pretty pathetic, leave this to the classes who can use it.

I was running this today for two reasons 1. to get the binding from garr i have ben trying to get for 8 months and 2. to get cores for rep and whatnot. i was bringing my real life friend through with his 60 twink so that he may get some gear for funsies and we cleared all even got an ingot and downed this boss and the eye dropped naturally i gave it to the 60 twink so he may rock the battlegrounds. also i gave him almost all of the mats except 4 ingots for free to help him. =)

Today, Sunday 26th of July 2009 I've gone with my classic character to MC, after successfully creating a Sulfuron Hammer. After cleaning all the instance, we killed Ragnaros. It dropped the Eye of Sulfuras.

One of my friends did the same (create a Sulfuron Hammer and farm MC) and also got it on his first try. Maybe the drop % is incorrect, because you need the Sulfuron Hammer to be equipped.

Think of it. 2 Runs with Sulfuron Hammer equipped and 2 Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros earned. Maybe it's real % is higher (EDIT: I don't mean to be 100%, but maybe is 5-8%. In any case, it's chance is between 3 and 14% according to official WoWarmory.).

Hammer has no bearing on the drop rate. Me (rogue), a priest, and a mage went to MC to farm Bindings and rep. None of us have the hammer and we got the eye.

Luck is luck. Now if only those bindings would drop...

Well being a ret i can easily solo Molten core in about...40ish minutes. (i only do 1 boss as protection rest i do as ret), and yesterday it finally dropped!

since i had most of the mats with me from previous runs, i "only" need to worry about farming the blood of the mountain :D

Ran MC with a DK tank and 2 mages, me being a ret paladin.
I just threw spot heals on the death knight when he needed and we killed Ragnaros just for fun and to see if i could get my t2

The DK told me the eye dropped and i thought he was joking, he passed it to me because hes working on thunderfury and i've always wanted the mace for 4 years.

The same day i got more than half the mats but still missing a majority of them.

This dropped for me on my 3rd farming run. Not trying to brag, but to inspire hope to all those out there who might want to try for Sulfuras before Cataclysm. I also got Garr's bindings on my first run, but I'm sure that just means Geddon will never drop his. ;) Sometimes the RNG can smile upon you so don't give up hope and keep farming MC every reset. It's never too late to start trying for this!

So a guildy of mine suggests that I try to run BWL on my own and see if prot pallies are OP enough to pull it off.After reading the strat on the first boss I realized that it would be impossible so I asked a priest in my guild if she would like to run BC for the achieve.After about 4 hours of nonsense and trial and error trash attempts (took us about 20-25 min to kill the core hounds in Magmadars room b/c I stupidly pulled them all) we finally get to Rag and smite him and guess what dropped lol.

oh and it took that long only b/c mid way another guildy asked if he could some to so we went out and got him (wasnt attuned so we had to run through BRD as well) then had to clear a few trash respawns

need 7 more Ingots and 9 more Blood of the Mountain for my mace.

I got this Yesterday on my 5th Ragnaros run, was very happy at how fast i got it, i was thinking when doing it all that i would have all the materials for the Sulfuron hammer before i found the eye, but yeah cause i got it so quick i'm still like 3 ingots and 6 blood down from the hammer. Not long now though.

Took me close to 2 years (dual boxing MC every reset) to get it to drop but I can confirm that it does still drop as of patch 4.0.1.

I had the Sulfuron Hammer made in 2008 (which was not easy - the sulfuron ingots took several months to drop) so it was collecting dust in the bank and a couple of times I was close to putting it up on the AH as I didn't equip it and it was still BoE.

I actually won this tonight. Me and 2 other guildies were doing a rep run and we got to Rags and I told them flat out: "If the eye drops I am totally rolling Need on it.. not like it ever does anyway.." And to our surprise right after I typed that, there it was! Yay!

Gathering up the rest of the mats I need for my hammer, gonna look nice next to my Thunderfury! =)

Alright so after 6 months of farming the Eye, it finally dropped for me. I had read on here the story about the player typing /e Pokes Ragnaros' eye out. and then the following story of another player doing it.

As a joke to a friend I decided to do it too and LO AND BEHOLD...Eye drops!

I submitted a screenshot for the eye, so hopefully it will get approved and you guys will see it.

I have been soloing ragnaros whit my druid 7-8 months allmost every reset atleast and no drop.

Have killed ragnaros 70 times now total o have ln one char. Maybe 3-4 times have seen drop but all lost to paladins, thats just sad :(

So i allmost have lost my hope. maybe it doesent want to drop for druids or something.

Just got my eye on fourth to fifth solo run of mc. Started doing it every week since hitting 85 as a dk tank. W0000T im so happy this was the one thing iv been realy working for. Now to get both bindings. I recommend soloing this place as it is duable with any class now. Easier with some then others. Now to get 6 more ingots and 7 more blood of the mountain for hammer..

took me 22 runs at 80 to get the eye to drop.on a positive note i had made the sulfuron hammer earlier that day so it brought me some luck when killing rag. upon seeing it drop i proceeded to pvp with it at 80 and actually kill people in bgs. fun times

Assuming the wowhead droprate listed is correct, we can calculate the odds of having seen the eye drop after X kills.

4% droprate is the same as 96% non-droprate.

We can then calculate the chance to see it after X amount of runs: 1-0.96^X
that means x=1 for 1 run: 0.040 or 4% chance to see it. Alternatively it can be presented as a fraction: 9600/10000 will not see it on first kill.

Here's a few examples:
1 run: 0.040 - 9600/10000
5 runs: 0.1846 - 8154/10000
10 runs: 0.3352 - 6648/10000
20 runs: 0.558 - 4420/10000
50 runs: 0.8701 - 1299/10000
100 runs: 0.9831 - 169/10000
150 runs: 0.9978 - 22/10000
200 runs: 0.9997 - 3/10000

As you can the probability that one has seen a drop after 50 runs is actually quite high, but on the other hand there's a very small risk (about 3 in 10000 or 1 in 3333) of not having seen it after 200 kills.

Unfortunately it's a 7 day reset time so 200 kills is almost 4 years of farming every week. Luckily most of us should see it long before then. In fact the probability says that 50% of us should have seen it already after 17 kills (1-0.04^17 = 0.500413)

It is confirmed, the drop rate has significantly increased. The drop rate now sits at about 8.224% though an increase i dont understand the motive of. im sure we would all be thankful.

I just got this last night (now only to get the remaining ingots for the hammer rofl). Anyway if the drop rate has increased to this 8.224% or w/e it is probably to assist with the guild legendary achievements. They are no longer just feats of strength or things to bum around org in. Just a theory anyway. Though with that logic, thunderfury bindings drop rate should have gone up, warglaive drops should have gone up, and the bow from KJ should drop more, so if any of these also appear to be true that could be a reason.

Edit: just looked up item on wow site still listed as Very low (3% – 14%). However this could alot as 4% or 8% so idk

I have run this place for the entire last year, at least 40 runs. and i have NEVER seen the eye drop.

i have tried killing using the hammer itself, saying that stupid '/em pokes ragnaros eye out' , doing master looter, no master looter. NEVER DROPPED IN THE LAST YEAR.

now..... could there be any pre-requisite that you guys have? because in these 40 runs, not even the bindings dropped either.. so i have never seen ANY of the 3 items to drop.

This actually just dropped for me today on Anub'arak - US on my first run. I was running the place for gold off bosses and this dropped. I was amazed! Now I have to hunt for Ingots!

As a side note, Warriors can avoid all fall damage by using heroic leap or any kind of Charge/Intercept.

It dropped for me after about only 12 rag kills on my hunter. I was running MC for tunderfury. I did get exalted with Thorium Brotherhood and picked up the plans for the hammer. Never intended on making it considering I can't equip it. But sense the eye dropped, I'll collect the Sulfuron Ingots, then drop one of my professions (probably mining after I get enough mats) and take up Blacksmithing. Make the hammer, and have it sit in my bank. I guess.

Okay I just HAD to create an account...

After I made almost 1 year pause with WoW, I just got in again to see some old friends,
so they are all offline, think i'm gonna solo some MC bosses (Garr & Geddon) with my Warrior Mainchar
after they fell so effortless, I decided to clear the entire raid dungeon.

long story short, Ragnaros finally dropped my chance for a legendary Item.

still prefering Thunderfury, I went in there again yesterday after ID reset.

after clearing, Ragnaros just gave me ANOTHER eye!

so I'm standing now in Orgrimmar with 2 Eyes but only 3 Ignots...

My big question is now...
Sulfuras is a unique item, but since i'm not looting the Hammer, but creating it instead, will this be possible and allow me to actually carry 2 Hammers (at least in my inventory)?

the hardest thing to get for the hammer is the Blood of the Mountains, not the ingots. you have to be a miner and farm Dark Iron for the low drop rate or get the 1% chance of having one drop per week off of Molten Destroyers in MC. It's not seen on the AH very often because no one farms them and if by chance a nub is farming trash in MC or mining Dark Iron for some weird reason, it's unlikely they will hold onto the Blood of the Mountain as it is only green quality and no one knows its value.

It's nice to hear people are happy about looting the Occhio di Sulfuras and take the time to complete it.

I have been farming for it, as have many others, and I'm on my meagre 20th run this week.
I know I will get it eventually, so I'm not upset like some other people seem to be when hearing about the lucky ones getting it in their first few runs. It takes about 30min-1hr a week for the chance of a legendary, gives me some "me time", and I consider it totally worth it for the reward.

Let's not forget that Formula: Incanta Arma - Potenza Magica and Formula: Incanta Arma - Potere di Guarigione (2 twink/levelling enchanting formulas) also have a chance to drop, and may earn you a tidy penny from your farming runs. Let's also not forget rep and pure gold drops (around 250g for your efforts).

Congratulations to all those lucky enough to have the Eye drop, and keep up the good work to all those who are farming it!

I got my Eye a long time ago in a pug and no one seem to want it cause they had no clue what it was so my mage got it yep even the warrior didn't' want it lol. Then later when i started farming for my TF i said i should give soloing all of MC a go for the gold and my first kill of rag it drops again -_- still have it sitting by my hammer that i can't use and my newly made TF. I'll probably sell it once I have to bank dragonswrath =(

Let's not forget that Formula: Enchant Weapon - Spellpower and Formula: Enchant Weapon - Healing Power (2 twink/levelling enchanting formulas) also have a chance to drop, and may earn you a tidy penny from your farming runs. Let's also not forget rep and pure gold drops (around 250g for your efforts).

Those two enchants are worth almost nothing on my server. 22 Intellect is more powerful because it gives you mana and spellpower, instead of just spellpower. It's also easier to get since it relies on rep farming (that is incredibly easy) over a random trash drop in a raid. The 30 SP one dropped for me today and I tried to sell it for 2k like Auctioneer suggested. Needless to say /2 had a good laugh at that. Some guy offered me 150g. I should just learn it.

Got this today when i was getting the essence for thunderfury. :D was my 15th kill of him. So i didnt kill him too many times.
I didn't do any special macro's or anything, just had a feeling and told my friend how funny it would be if it dropped.
Just a word of advice, go in expecting the worse, that way when it doesn't drop you aren't all super sad face. :D

It took me three months to craft the non-Legendary portion of the hammer. Not because it was difficult, but more because the material cost was outrageous, so I ended up farming everything myself.

For the last three months I have been killing Ragnaros weekly, with zero luck. Not even a Thunderfury binding. I'm getting sick of this. Before I started my grind I would see at least one Legendary drop a month, I'm due for another dammit!

Been running MC and killing rag for at least 2 years, possibly more, and still no eye, though I have the hammer ready and am exalted. People in my guild that run it get the eye and dont have the hammer and it just sits in their bank as the hammer is ridiculously difficult to craft (I was lucky and got ingots off Golemagg a fair bit).

I have Thunderfury already and this is the only thing I run mc for. I think Rag hates me or something :(

I put Hydraxian Water Lords on the back burner when Cataclysm came out. Today I decided to randomly start it up again, and see if I could solo the whole thing. I was able to pretty easily, and the Eye dropped.

As a Priest, I really don't see what I can do with this. I think I read that if I go ahead and complete the legendary, my guild will get the achievement for having it? I'm not sure. For now, I suppose it will just take up space in my bank, and I'm really sorry to everyone who is trying to see this drop.

As painful as it may be to farm this. I hope they DON'T increase the drop rate. It should be something you should have to still work a little to get. It's already easy enough. I solo MC on my Paladin trying to get the Eye.

FYI: When I got the Eye of Sulfuras, it did not show up as one of the first 3-4 loot boxes on my screen. Some blues and the T2 pants showed up. So I thought I just had another uneventful run. However, after closing 1 of the loot boxes, the next one to pop up was Eye of Sulfuras!

I started running MC for rep on my DK back in February (so about 7 months ago), only missed maybe 2 or 3 weeks overall. The Eye dropped for me twice - 3 weeks ago and today. Unfortunately, since in this entire time I only got 2 blood of the mountain, it'll be a while before I can craft my legendary (I got all other mats, even the ingots). I also got the binding off of Garr about a month ago, for Thunderfury. So either they really upped the legendary drop rate since 4.2, or I just got lucky (although I'd gladly trade the 2nd Eye of Sulfuras for a better drop on the bloods...)

Got the Eye after years of farming, like some people described above. Several alts (three! paladins, two DK's, two druids, and occationally dropped in with warlock/hunter alts too), took ages to get this thing. Eventually when it dropped it happened on a server where I didn't have all Sulfuron Ingots or Blood of the Mountain.. cursed my luck and just couldn't get myself to farm specificly for them, I figure I'd just get the mats while grinding rep and for the bindings.

Why am I wasting your time writing that? Well, today I caved in and decided to just farm the mats and have it over with. It was easier than I thought! So I'm sharing my mats-grinding routine here, maybe it helps someone else that gets the Eye and want to get the mats over with quick -

* Sulfuron Ingots - obviously you need some luck, I just ran several alts purely killing Golemagg, went quick. Depending on your server these usually pop up on AH too.
* I parked a character that can farm the Molten Destroyers easily in MC (join a raidgroup, enter, as long as you don't exit MC you can just log out/in no matter if you're raided or not).
* Parked a miner with high fly speed in Silithus.
- Now I just killed all MC bosses up to Garr/Geddon to keep the trash at minimum. Made sure to kill all Molten Destroyers. Then I logged out on the spot in MC, logged the miner. Took two-three full round around the edges of the map, made sure 30mins+ had passed (since I logged out in MC), then logged back the character in MC and Destroyers had reset.
* Fiery/Lava Core drops sufficient while doing the Destroyer-reset tactic. You should easily have more Essence of Fire than you need, and Dark Iron is also really easy if you're a miner.

Each 5-10 + 30mins;
1) 1x Blood - 5x Arcane Crystal
2) 0x Blood - 7x Arcane Crystal
3) 1x Blood - 6x Arcane Crystal
4) 1x Blood - 5x Arcane Crystal
etc.. I stopped counting, but took me roughly ten runs all in all, so approximately 6-7 hours.

The grind looks horrible at start, but if you have two characters (one miner) to dedicate to this, you can get everything bar the Sulfuron Ingot grinded in just some focused hours in less than a day. Just put on some good grinding music.. :P

I wanted to farm the thunderfury sword on my DK, so i started my first run @ MC.
When i got to ragnaros i died 2 times, i gave him 1 more shot and got the eye of sulfuras.

You have to love the RNG gods! A few weeks ago, I ran MC for the first time just to see it on my 85 rogue. I got one of the bindings, so I figured since it was easy enough, I would farm it for Thunderfury. Now on my third run, I get this thing to drop. I can almost guarantee I will never get Thunderfury (my original goal, and something I can actually equip), but I can make Rag's hammer, which I can't even hold! I wish this thing was BoE!

Oh well, think I am going to make this thing anyways just for the guild achievement.

My paladin alt got his on the first run after hitting 85.
My druid got his after about 15 runs.
My warrior has been my main since vanilla and I still don't have it.

And I haven't seen the bindings since vanilla, even though I've cleared MC around 100 times.

RNG is RNG.

Best advice is to just keep doing it. You'll(probably) get it eventually.

I remember seeing all the three legendary item drop in one run. It was when I played on my druid, in wrath of the lich king. A hunter got both bindings and a warrior got the eye. All in one run, I was amazed when I saw it. And of course, I'm wondering about the possibility of that.

As a mage, i have been farming MC for the 2 Bindings to create Furiatonante, Lama Benedetta del Vento Eterno and after 8 kills i have gotten 2 Occhio di Sulfuras and i am happy to inform the wow community that these DOT NOT STACK. Also, i'd like to point out that both times the Eye dropped for me, i had a Zampa di Coniglio in my bags...don't know if it helps but better safe than sorry.

I'm not sure why there are all these people leaving comments about the drop rate being so high, its just not the case. I am exalted on 2 characters (and we know how long THAT takes since the whole revered bar you only get rep from bosses) and mid-revered on another. In all that time I have seen it drop three times. The drop rate is not high.

I went into MC with the intention of trying to get the bindings for my pally. Did I get them? Nope, instead I got the Eye! Looks like I will be working on getting the matts for that one then. I have run this every week for the past 30 weeks. Thats over half a year, and no drop on the eye or any legendary piece. On the bright side, if you loot everyone you make a pretty good chunk of change, plus stack up on extra matts to sell extra Hammers.

I have no idea if this is just a bizarre coincidence, but after many runs of mat-gathering, I crafted my Sulfuron Hammer. I left it in my inventory as a good-luck talisman - and the Eye, which I'd never seen in all those mat-gathering runs, dropped on my very next Ragnaros kill.

I was doing the last MC run I needed to hit exalted with the Hydraxian Waterlords today and this dropped. I was so happy to finally see a legendary in my bags....until I found out that it is for a 2H mace which I cannot use since I am a priest. I contacted a GM to get confirmation if I had to equip the completed legendary to obtain the Feat of Strength or if I simply had to have it in my bags. Prior to 3.3, it simply had to be in my bags, however, you MUST equip the completed mace to obtain credit for your Feat of Strength.

Out of curiosity, I also asked if there are ANY suggestions the GM had for me besides letting it collect dust in my bank or deleting it (which I do not have the heart to do). The GM replied to "Taunt players who need it. Wait, that would be mean." When I replied, "It cannot possibly be more mean than Blizz's RNG letting a legendary drop for a person who cannot use it" to which I got no response.

P.S. According to the GM, "there is no Achievement department" either if you are curious. Best thing I can suggest, is put in a suggestion ticket asking the achievement be changed back to "Owner" like it was prior to patch 3.3. If you are lucky enough to have this drop AND you can use the mace, Gratz! If you are one of the poor souls like myself who cannot use this, just hope you did not use all your luck on this drop. It's extremely unfortunate a legendary drop has to go to waste like this.

My situation was a little different than most. I went into Molten Core last night because I had never been there. I wanted to do it because it was the last achieve to finish up the vanila raiding achieve. I finished up rag and saw the eye drop. I didn't even know what it was for till I started researching it. I know that I am lucky to have had this happen. Between this, getting the White Hawkstrider on the first run (once again, I didn't even know about it) and the fox kit as a random drop from an AOE attack in TB, I am absolutely positive that my luck has run out. Now to farm the rest of the mats for the sulfuron hammer.

When I got to Rag I decided to do what my friend said and do that emote. Now, imagine my surprise when I actually see the eye.

VERY VERY happy to craft myself the Sulfuras - Hand of Ragnaros!

Now, that I´m looking for the Trovejjardus right side, to complete the second legendary weapon at Molten Core instance, the Eye of Sulfuras dropped again! I almost cryed to receive it again, but can´t craft a second hammer, as I´m a Paladin.... Had to sell it for mere 20 gold is painful.... (was at the 20th visit to Ragnaros)

I don´t know, but as I´m everyweek at MC farming, it looks like the drop chance is up to: blood of the mountain.

It took my old main to exalted to get the Eye to drop and about 13 weeks for TF pieces 5+6 weeks.

Now I went to see if fist from Magdamar would drop and helped friend to grind the rep. And on the first run that is, the Eye dropped for my monk, and ofc my buddy is Mage so just some orange bling for the bags. Mage friend is about 13k to exalted and first eye he saw dropping, and he haven't seen TF pieces.

Offtopic:
Maybe my monk is good luck charm but we did Sunwell and I took my friends 85 hunter just incase the bow would drop, needed transmog myself. Well first run achis for both toons and legendary for the hunter :)

Guildie #1, he got bindings for 3 TF before seeing the eye finally dropping.
Guildie #2, Got all other legendarys you could grind to warrior but grinded 2years before for the other half of TF dropped.

Decided to register after lurking wowhead for the last 3 years to share my "luck".

So I've been farming MC for quite some time on several characters for bindings (never thought about sulfuras).
Last week it has all started: first i got the eye on my druid - bought the hammer and got the achievement. This week earlier I've decided to try Garr for the last binding on my hunter, didn't get it, however got the eye. Today I've lvled rogue and ran through MC for transmog gear and after killing Sulfuron, bam, got the third eye in 2 weeks.
Dont know what has changed if it did, but my situation positively explains RNG.

Dont give up. You will get it if you are lucky and bring friends, who knows how many legendaries you gonna get on your next run :)

TL;DR

Got 3 eyes in 2 weeks on 3 different characters. Stay positive, if drop rate is letting you down.

Playing on Gordunni and Soul Cleaver (EU-RU).

After 47 runs following almost every reset, I was lucky enough for it to drop for me last night. I scrolled through three pages of loot when I came across an additional arrow pointing to the fourth page, I couldn't believe my eyes. After looting Ragnaros 46 times before I was so accustomed to seeing a loot table filled with purple and blue that I found myself staring at the thing for a few minutes before it actually hit me. Good luck to anyone who is still searching for it, it's definitely worth all the effort.

Maybe I was just extremly lucky according to the comments this item NEVER dropped for some, I never went to MC before on my paladin and I just did a run for fun because thers nothing else to do on Deathwing-EU since its dead.

Heading to have a sulfuron hammer crafted from scratch .... it might take ages lol!

Remember that you can still build Sulfuras EVEN if you are NOT a blacksmith =)

Been farming this item since 2010. Got two completed hammers so far. One on my paladin and one of my deathknight.

to those that think you can auction this item. if you look closely it even says Binds when picked up. and to a special someone not mentioning names. but you couldn't have been farming it for "9" years back in 2011. first off the game itself wasn't even up and running for that long. and 2nd the patch for mc was sure as hell not out either. so fail on timeframe. i'd be even willing to challenge the one that said 7 years simply because I don't believe the patch was out yet. that was closer though at least. So after years of running molten core, and never seeing a legendary drop, i felt compelled to go farm my "Of Might" warrior xmog set. so im just struttin a long and the left binding of the windseeker drops... im in shock cuz im never lucky.

So funny story about this item. After a long time and a lot of effort, I'd finally managed to get one of these. Get the hammer forged, get the legendary, woo! Well a few months later I go to take my friend through Molten Core because she likes the transmog. We get to the final boss (her first run through ever, she got the achievement when we killed him) and lo and behold, what should drop but the Eye! On her first run.

Not only that, but the blue that he dropped was the Orb of Deception too. Talk about lucky! I was astonished. I couldn't believe her good luck! Nothing to do with anything really, other than I was just absolutely flabbergasted that it happened. If it hadn't of happened to me, I wouldn't have believed it.

Was on my hunter farming some transmog legs from Rag and this item drops. i have farmed this on 4 toons each week for almost 4 years. i opened a ticket asking if they would move it from my hunter to a toon they can actually use maces. i then logged off and onto my pally who is farming the Sword and hammer from MC. well no luck on the sword, but i figure i'll kill rag for the rep at least. I just spent the last couple of weeks getting the mats for the hammer and the eye dropped a few weeks into farming for the hammer (haven't seen anything legendaries on my priest with far more runs). My Wrathguard AND Felguard would NOT show the Sulfuras with the glyph to show 2h weapons (the epic sulfuron hammer would show however). I suppose it follows normal transmogrify rules where you can't use legendaries.

Oh well, if you have the sulfuron hammer keep it if you like how it looks or sell it off for hopefully a nice profit. Good luck to others trying to get it and happy hunting (this was the first run I tried "/e pokes Ragnaros' eye out!" and it worked, I also yelled I would rip his eye out of his dead corpse, starting to think the first one actually does something...).

9 years as a healing Shaman, 300 blacksmith ground out in vanilla including 1200g ground out for an ingot for the plans from BRD. 2 years of raiding MC only one ever drop and it went to another Shaman that left guild 1 month later.
1st MC run on level 90 monk the EYE drops. Such emotion , I almost cried.

I got this drop on my Paladin's first run through Molten Core during Cataclysm but I decided to take a long break from World of Warcraft before making the hammer. Unfortunately during my break, someone hacked my account and sold it to a vendor. A few months later when I decide to get back into the game, I noticed it and decided to submit a ticket. I guess support was able to recover some gear that was missing but they cannot verify I had the item due to the logs being too old. This is pretty sad for me because I had the recipe to make the hammer with but the blacksmithing level was too low for me to learn it. I also spent around 3000g for about 5-6 Sulfuron Ingots to craft this hammer later on that are also gone. There are probably other rare items I had that may be missing too but this item was by far the rarest (excluding one time holiday items). Needless to say, I make sure to have the authenticator attached at all times now.

I'll probably farm to get it again on my DK but losing it still rustles my jimmies.

So a while ago when I was first leveling my main, my friend ran me through MC and this happened to drop on the first time. I sold it because I had no idea what it was. I now deeply regret it as I have ran MC so many times to get it again. Curse my noobishness

First Rag kill on this alt lvl93 and he dropped Eye of Sulfuras.

I have started to farm this only this week, I killed Ragnaros around five times on each of my characters but no eye dropped, so I decided to hope onto my druid to kill him for the first time and it drops, I seem to get so lucky on my druid, I had even gotten the Redini del Gran Mammut da Guerra Nero on my first kill, if you want proof of the eye on the first kill I will upload a screenshot on Tuesday. :)

So today I decided I would randomly start farming old dungeons and raids to get mounts, legendaries, etc.
I got this thing on my first kill of him all while being alone; and now I've read some of the stories of how some people have spent years trying to farm the thing...
I feel disgusting.
Not for the fact that I feel sorry for those poor farmers but for the fact that I can't afford a Sulfuron Hammer.
And yes; I am a horrible person.

So after years of farming Raggy it finally dropped for me tonight 18/4-15.
Somone posted a comment here about he /poked him and it dropped for him.
I did the same thing midfight and boom! it dropped.

Just ran MC before the reset as it was one of my weekly things I do on the game, that I had left, and this dropped for me, for the third time in ~12-15 runs, once on each of my warriors, and today on my rogue. Yet to see any bindings though, good luck to the rest of you.

I am one of those who have been after this for too many years, I've had the Sulfuron Hammer for nearly 12 years, I was part of an old raiding guild way back when.

When BC launched we stopped running MC, but with Wrath I started solo'ing it almost consistantly, and have been ever since.

I'm probably somewhere between 300-400 Ragnaros kills, and to this day I've never seen the eye drop. This is one of the cases where the RNG shows how truly heartless it is. Thanks to pure chance, it is possible to work for something like this for an entire decade, and not 'earn' it.

Not giving up tho, I'll keep at it till WoW is no more, and if I still haven't got it by then, maybe I'll tell my story to blizz, see what they have to say.

Has anyone ever managed to get TWO made? I ask because I have been grinding for the eye for the last 5 years on my Horde account, to get the achievement for my guild. I made one on my Alliance account in 2012. It just struck me now, that it may be possible that I may never see another eye, because my linked accounts are somehow telling the game NOT to drop another one. I would find this odd, but I must ask because I have been trying weekly on 3-5 char's for the last 5 years and have never seen it. This is in addition to all the runs/kills I have done on other chars to complete sets, running friends, etc. In total, I must be around 900-1200 kills of Rag without seeing the eye drop even once on ANY character.
Now, I am quite familiar with RNG, because I have nearly 3,000 kills on the Horseman and still have not gotten the mount, but this seems nearly as ridiculous as that.

I would prefer to get a quick answer here instead of putting in a ticket to ask the question for obvious reasons, and if it is impossible to get the eye twice, I would surely love to stop wasting my time each week.

Believe it or not, I was farming the t1 and t2 transmog sets from MC and BWL and this dropped, TWICE IN A ROW. I now have two sitting in my bag. still don't have the transmog sets i want though, bless RNGesus.

Guys, TAKE HEED!
If you are farming the Eye and also have the mats etc for the (BOE) sulfuron hammer DO NOT USE THE EYE ON THE HAMMER IF YOU WANT IT FOR AN ALT. It will instantly bind to you WITHOUT A WARNING BOX

You will need to send the hammer to your alt, and then farm the Eye of Sulfuras on the alt before combining them.

After over 2 years of farming and grinding on different chars and building their professions etc, i finally had all the mats. I made the hammer on my BS rogue, and before i sent it to my paladin I used the eye so it would become Sulfuras. It ended up being Soulbound to my rogue... ><

I currently have an open ticket to a GM to see if they can bring back my two separate items. Fingers crossed :/

As of 8.3, legendary items are now transmoggable. Since you need to be able to equip the item to have it in your appearances, only the following classes can obtain Sulfuras, Pugno di Ragnaros:

To craft the legendary weapon, you will need both Martello di Sulfuron and Occhio di Sulfuras.
The hammer materials:

8x Lingotto di Sulfuron from Golemagg il Crematore
25x Essenza di Fuoco from Nucleo Ardente bosses and trash
10x Nucleo di Lava from Nucleo Ardente bosses and trash
10x Nucleo Rovente from Nucleo Ardente bosses and trash
10x Sangue di Montagna from Distruttore Fusos
20x Lingotto di Ferroscuro which can be made by a miner (300) using 160x Minerale di Ferroscuro. The ores can be mined in Nucleo Ardente and Sotterranei di Roccianera. You can get the pattern to smelt the ore from Furien'rel after completing Il Calice Spettrale.
50x Lingotto d'Arcanite which can be made by an alchemist (275) using 50x Lingotto di Torio (which can be made by miners (200) and 50x Cristallo Arcano (rare drop from mining Thorium)

It is very important to note that all of the materials and the hammer itself, are not soulbound, so they can be bought and sold at the auction house, or mailed between your characters.

The only thing needed afterwards is the Occhio di Sulfuras, which is a rare drop from Ragnaros, the final boss of
Nucleo Ardente. This item will be soulbound once looted, so if you're looking for the achievement and the appearance, you will need to farm this on the classes mentioned above. Once you have it, simply mail yourself the Martello di Sulfuron and use the eye to create the legendary Sulfuras, Pugno di Ragnaros!

Surprise surprise today, after having killed Ragnaros roughly 40 times over about 4 months, the Eye finally dropped for my Blacksmith today. I downed 'ol Ragamuffin, started sorting through the drops in my bag, saw what I thought was the standard Icon Appearance of a trinket I have found many times, started grumbling, went to pick it up and move it to my 'Sell' Loot Bag, moused over it.... and froze. Stared at it for a few moments and then took a break while I wrapped my brain around not having to run through MC for the Eye - Ever - Again.

Now I just have to Farm all the OTHER materials to make Sulfuras. Time to pay Golemagg a visit and ask him for another Sulfuron Ingot.

So I finally bought the Sulfuron Hammer on the AH after many years of saving up after collecting every other Legendary in the game. I kept the Hammer on my DK while I did MC runs on most of my Ally alts in one night.

The Eye dropped on the THIRD run! I flipped my lid. I got the Hammer AND the Eye in just one night. I was so happy.

I mailed the Sulfuron Hammer over to the alt that got the eye. Put 1 and 1 together and Voila! I got Sulfuras in one night!

Stroke of luck, man. I swear.

No idea if this is related, but the Eye dropped for me today when killing Ragnaros got me to Exalted with the Hydraxian Waterlords. Is being exalted a pre-requisite?

EDIT: Apparently not. Maybe it is just today. I was shy one Blood of the Mountain and one Ingot to make the hammer, so I took my Blacksmith to Molten Core for the first time right after the Eye dropped for my Shaman - and my Paladin Blacksmith ALSO got an Eye. (No ingot or Blood of the Mountain, of course....)

After having left most of the mats sitting in my blacksmith warrior alt's bank (US-Malfurion) for many years, I finally sat down today and ground out the rest needed -- Cristallo Arcano for the Lingotto d'Arcanite and yes it's still tedious -- to craft the Martello di Sulfuron. Once that was done, I headed into Molten Core because I remembered that Ragnaros needed killing for the other component to form Sulfuras, Pugno di Ragnaros. I killed Ragnaros and... the Eye of Sulfuras dropped. I made sure to quickly loot it and then came here to see if it was because of some buff to the drop rate or if the hammer was required to see the Eye.

Nope, it seems I was simply extremely lucky.

So naturally in my excitement there were two things I forgot to do:

I didn't equip the Sulfuron Hammer first before creating Sulfuras. Fortunately, it turned out that equipping Sulfuras not only taught me the legendary appearance but also the epic version. :D
I had meant to smelt some Minerale di Ferroscuro outside MC before hearthing. Not so fortunately, my warrior doesn't have Telecomando di Birranera, so I will have to fly back out at some point. >.<
