Looks like these drop off rare animals that can be world quest targets. Not all rare-spawn beasts are valid WQ targets, though. For example, the Infected Direhorn behind the waterfall in Nazmir didn't give me a Spirit even though it is a rare-spawn.

It appears that the WQ has to be active for the mob to drop the Spirit, contrary to what I thought earlier.

I think the rule of thumb is: if it's a WQ mob and is listed as a beast, you should get a Spirit.

So here is my update for everyone::::

You can rekill mobs to get more than 1 from the rare. I've been killing sythian the swift till i received my second one after approximately 6 kills.

I am currently at 12/15 before i tried this to test it out. I got to 12/15 running around the whole BFA world killing all the rare-beast mobs.

:) they can drop off ANY rare beast mob with very low chance, however you can rekill / restart events to get another chance at them.

Update******* The mallet does NOT work in raiding instances, Old world or new world. Also the buff disappears when you enter these instances. I have yet to test it out in dungeons. TBD.

Update 2: Some people have been having issues with a "soft-lock". Apparently there is 100% of looting another Spirit of the Bested after 15 minutes of the initial loot of the mob. There have been reports however, and with personal experience, that the spirits can drop prior to this 15 minute mark.

It seems like these cant drop more than once every 10-15 minutes. Tried killing the same mob over and over again to no avail but when i wait 15 mins between kills it drops instantly.

Confirmed. You CAN obtain these from Rare Beasts in the War Fronts. I just got one from Blackpaw in Darkshore.

So I've been farming these for some time today and here's what I can tell you has nothing to do with the drop; It isn't timed. It doesn't matter if the rare has an active World Quest attached to it. It doesn't matter if it's elite. It will drop from Warfront rares, but it doesn't *seem* like it has a better drop rate on elites or warfront rares. It seems completely random how often it drops. If anything else occurs to me I will edit...

I'm 99% sure that it is time-gated. I've farmed the same rare for over 20 minutes (it had a ~1 minute respawn timer) and had 2 drops. 1 from the first kill and one after around 15 minutes. After that drop I logged out for 15-20 minutes, logged back and instantly got a drop then i logged out again for 15-20 minutes and got a drop on the first kill after logging back in. I've been doing this for 2 hours now and i got the item on the first kill every single time.(I'm killing the same rare beast over and over again)

UPDATE- So it does reset every 15 min but its based on the clock and not when you kill it. Tested multiple times by killing a few min before each quarter hour (15, 30, 45, 00) and if you kill before the quarter hour and then again after, you will get it both times at a max of 4 per hour. EXAMPLE you can log in at 1:25 kill a rare beast wait until 1:31 and kill the same one again and you will get one both times (+/-1 min server time lag), do it again and not log in until 1:55, kill it and then kill again at 2:01. Save yourself from logging in every 15 min.

Note- This is why multiple players have gotten it in under 5 min and explains why everyone seems to get it at a max of 15 min. I am including screen shot that had a drop before and after the top of the hour.

Here is a listing of every single mob in Zandalar that are eligible to drop these aside from the Group World Quests that recommend 5 players as those are typically (but not always) up only when their associated world quest is active.

I recommend starting with the first Elite in the Zone listing and traveling in a clockwise direction as I have done.

As I stated above do not hesitate to do every Elite World Quest that feature beasts while you are moving down this checklist!
I might do Kul Tiras next when I craft my Rogues Tool of the Trade until then, thanks, happy hunting and I hope this helps!

For Alliance characters, Zannasega drops these. He swims in the Boralus harbor so you can just nab him whenever you are in town and then go back to whatever you were doing.

Also of Rohn'kor. So for me it worked looking for bosses to kill while world quest.

I recommend farming Avatar di Xolotal in Zuldazar for Spirito dello Sconfitto! The respawn is very fast and you can just hang in the cave until he respawns. Coordinates: 49.61, 58.00

So is the time gate unrelated to if you kill the same mob or different mobs? I travelled 20 min through nazmir, killed 8 rare mobs but only got 2 of these. Can anyone confirm? The other comments only mentioned the killing of the same rare mob

For lazy people in the Horde like myself I find the easiest mob to kill is Umbra'jin as he is near scale trader post just a short flight away from the capital. You can be there and back in a few minutes.

Did some killing today, based on these excellent details, however on my testing, on an Oceania server, the timers start at one minute past.

EG 12:01, 12:16, 12:31: 12:46

Using the server clock, over an hour and a half, I found the resets were a minute out. So killing at 12:05 Would drop one, killing at 12:15 no drop, killing at 12:17 drop one, 12:31 drop one, 12:45 no drop, 12:48 drop one

100% chances are 1 each quarter of an hour:
1 chance between 1-15 min
1 chance between 16-30min
1 chance between 31-45 min
1 chance between 46-60 min

So, if you log in a character, and at your clock is, let's say, 15:10, you can get 2 drops within 6-7 minutes, but one untill 15:15 at least, and another right in the next minute. You don't need to keep logging out and back, just go do your normal stuff on the character, like emissaries, but with the time in mind always, making sure to kill a rare 'Beast' on the way before these fixed quarter times.

After reading all the comments here about being able to do this every 15 minutes, I believe it has changed to every 30 minutes. Got one at 13:02, tried again at 13:17 (Whargarble) and 13:29 (Goregorn) but got no drop. Tried Gorehorn again at 13:32 and got another drop.

I'm experiencing multiple drops per day on the same rare beasts. Kept randomly doing content and got 3 separate drops from "Arclight" after 15 mins passed, so you can at least try to farm the same ones.

Ok - there seems to be some confusion on this, so I will try to make it clearer. I use Avatar of Xolotal to get my 15 Spirit of the Bested. I have done this on 4 different characters over the span of BfA, and it works seamlessly! However, you can not just do it randomly every 15 minutes.

The correct way to look at it, is that it is time-gated on the actual clock, with the item being refreshed after every quarter of an hour, for example: At 12 PM, 12:15 PM, 12:30 PM, and 12:45 PM.

So, if like me, you first logged in and killed Xolotal at 3:35 AM, you will be able to kill and loot another at 3:46 AM, then at 4:01 AM, 4:16 AM, 4:31 AM, 4:46 AM, and so on. You cannot just randomly kill him at any time and then try again 15 mins later. Also, make sure you are doing it by the clock in Wow, since it is based on that clock. Still drops at Shadowlands patch, even at level 51+. I was little worried it may have broken, since I was killing beasts in Zuldazar for about an hour and recieved nothing, but that was just bad luck.

Does anybody know if this ONLY drop from the rares that are world quests - or any of the rares?

I think looting Tendine Regale Lungo may trigger the hidden CD on these Sprits.
I did 4x Rezan kills (1x Mythic, 1x Heroic, 2x Normal) and got a sinew each time no problem. But then I go outside and kill a bunch of rare beasts, with and without WQ up, including a rare elite and get 0 Spirits.
Once my time ticked over to the next 15 minute interval, I got a Spirit right away from my first kill (Avatar of Xolotal which I had already killed before).
Continuing to get one on the first kill of Avatar in each 15 minute window.

If you just completed the quest for the drums, and are having trouble getting your FIRST drop, try logging out and back in. I tried the scripts that was showing I was eligible, but when I killed a rare (Avatar, whatever), it wouldn't drop. I tried waiting 15 more mins and I still could not get a drop. I logged out and back in and I was getting drops every 15 mins as expected. So try this if you haven't been getting drops!
