For any herbalists who didn't get the 2 rank Zin'athid gathering from the lasher. You don't need the seed, you can wait for other players to spawn it and loot the recipe that way.

After I picked up a second seed and couldn't find the fertile soil I random queued questing groups and the 2nd one I joined had the fertile soil on the ground for quest item to be planted. This time I made sure to get the rank 2 recipe.

There are two types of "Carnivorous Lasher". The quest Carnivorous Lasher didn't give me the recipe. I had to wait for the rare to spawn and then after feeding it, and killing it, I obtained rank 2. (The quest version doesn't have the silver dragon around it like the rare version does)

If you are looking for second rank of Zin'anthid you need to have Seme Germinante and spawn Pianta Sferzante Affamata in same way like you did it in Che cosa crescerà?.

Never, ever using again. Feed it all the way up, have it taken by opposite faction, pass. I'm not here to work hard to give the opposite faction mana pearls.

~~Opposite faction can steal the kill from you, so make sure noone is around and that you're quick with feeding it. If they tag it before you, you won't get any loot and can't get the recipe.~~

This was changed, and now opposite faction can not tag this mob anymore. It works just like other rares.

Rank 1 can be obtained by talking to either Rolm at 49, 61 in Nazjatar or Insturctor Ulooaka at 38, 53 in Nazjatar. You do need to have Battle Herbalism skill level 140+

Rank 2 can be obtained from Carnivorous Lasher - the rare, not the quest mob. The rare comes from Germinating Seed which has a small drop chance from mobs in Nazjatar and from gathering Zin'anthid. The first seed you'll get is a quest item which will phase you, but for the subsequent seeds, you will have to find some fertile soil in the Coral Reef area (best bet is to hang out at 54, 41 and announce when it spawns) to plant it. The second and beyond Lashers will not phase you, and you will have to collect 10 of the bugs to feed before it becomes attackable.

Rank 3 can be obtained from a Zin'anthid Tentacle, which has a small drop chance from gathering Zin'anthid nodes after having Rank 2. This is a simple turn-in quest where you return to either Rolm at 49, 61 in Nazjatar or Insturctor Ulooaka at 38, 53 in Nazjatar to turn in.

From what I can tell, you get anywhere between 1~3 at Rank 1

It took 2 days for the fertile soil to show up for me after reset, not just one. GMs stated it would be after the next reset. Yes, opposite faction came around, but mostly it was same faction and I got the second level.

There are Golden/Glistening Flies that make the Lasher drop Gold and Azerite in addition to the other stuff. keep an eye out for them!

For those of you who are not herbalists, this is used to spawn the rare Carnivorous Lasher located 54, 41. Look for the fertile soil at this location to spawn the rare. This also spawns bugs around the area that are used to feed the rare before you are able to kill it.

Remember to announce this in general so herbalists can get their rank 2 recipe.

The "54,41" coordinates take you the wrong side of a large piece of coral, from where you can't see the soil.

The respawn time for the Fertile Soil varies from 40-50 minutes from having timed it a few times out of boredom.

You can feed the Pianta Sferzante Carnivora with four different kinds of seafly:

The regular Mosca Marina Rigonfia

Mosca Marina Germinante, which makes the Lasher drop herbs

Mosca Marina Dorata, which makes it drop gold

and finally Mosca Marina Radiosa, which adds azerite to the loot.

Bloated Seaflies are in plentiful supply, but there is only one of each of the other three, so make sure you scout around for it before everyone else fills up with Bloated Seafly. Fortunately they are visually distinct from the regular ones.

I am bummed. I did the "tutorial" of this already and had the germinating seed. I USED the damn thing to spawn the plant... I got my first fly, but then it seemed I could NOT get any more flies (I spotted a golden one, chased after it but cursor never changed into a cog wheel). Others were there, I outdid myself on dps, and no rank 2... and NOW no seed either. Put in a ticket.

I got this somewhere a 2nd time, after already having ranked up into rank 3 of the herb. Is there a point to keep it if you are already rank of the herb, or is the Crimson Lasher always a spawn once you feed it 10 times? Or do you have to plant this again, feed him, and then he spawns?

I'm Horde. There was already a group of Alliance feeding the lasher when I arrived. I couldn't click on the golden bug to feed it, only the bloated ones. Both factions got the kill and I was able to loot gold, Azerite, herbs and a green item from it. I'm not an herbalist so I don't know if it will also drop the recipe.

Without looking up the comments on Mosca Marina Dorata, I loaded the lasher with 10 of them, having to wait for about a minute for each new one to spawn from two or three static spots.

I was hoping to get an assload of gold, but it turns out that once you 'buff' it for gold with the first one, giving it more will not increase the gold drop. I only got 60g.

If you're only here for the rank up, this might be a grind. You can zoom around and loot Zin'anthid, but it has a really low drop chance off of them to the point where I don't think it's worth it to grind off herbs. Just kill mobs and rares, especially rares. If you see a Zin'anthid loot it for sure, but don't rely on it for the seed.

Be careful when using this item, if you are in an instance that isn't your realm's default (I joined a group to kill a nearby world quest npc), and if you use the seed and then the group disbands, then you will be ported back to your instance and lose your seed and the the lasher will also disappear. Pretty bummed that I was kicked from the instance.

Despite nobody mentioned it yet, you need to have World Quests unlocked to have it dropped.

I killed some reefwalkers like these Solcabarriere Ondabianca and other reefwalkers. The item often dropped within 10 kills.
