Personally I wouldn't be surprised if this item is obtained via archeology, given that the last time we had an item like this, to tame mechanicals, it came from engineering. This being an ancient tome, and combine that with the icon it has for the item, I'd say it's plausible! Of course none of this has been confirmed and is entirely speculation. Still fun to guess though! :)

For those Hunters who are still searching and those from the secret finding community who have generously offered to assist us, here is a list of things that have been tried (from Petopia forums)

Searching Heart of Darkness in Nazmir. Mousing over every item, killing every NPC, and checking the center platform. This has been done also using an inky potion.

Using flare in camps with crawgs and trolls.

Killing any crawg and blood tick

Killing any blood troll

Checking any area in Zuldazar and Nazmir where Zul has been (quests/cut scenes).

Looking around Zul's platform in the Uldir raid in multiple difficulties. Also checking G'huun's area.

Throne of Thunder has been searched.

Atal'Dazar and Underrot have been searched.

Zandalari archaeology has been tried, as well as Orc dig-sites due to the icon that was used for the tome.

Krag'wa in Nazmir has been searched.

Bookshelves in both faction hubs have been searched.

Tracking hidden has been used within Nazmir and Zuldazar

Emoting at crawgs and blood ticks.

That is all I have for now.

Confirmed! You have to use your Hearthstone DURING the fight with HEROIC ZUL in Uldir. After you did your group HAS TO KILL him. You will recieve the tome in your bags!

Confirmed obtaining it by using hearthstone during Zul heroic fight before boss is dead (~5%), and it was killed while I was outside instance.

To get the Blood-Soaked Tome of Dark Whispers you have to kill Zul on Normal, Heroic or Mythic difficulties ! (By Warcraft Secrets)

It's been discovered!- It drops for hunters on any normal or higher Zul Kill in Uldir

The WoW Secret Finding Discord got confirmation of it after a hotfix was discovered and WarcraftDevs confirmed it on Twitter.

Direct quote from WarcraftDevs on Twitter-

Our original intention was to require defeating Heroic Zul with a raid of only Hunters. However, there was a bug that caused it to be granted to a few Hunters through unintentional means. In the spirit of fairness, we've made it drop from any Normal or higher Zul kill.

So there you go, all hunters can rejoice we can get the blood sucking bugs, because of a bug!

It looks like it's a 100% drop rate for all of the Hunters in the group for Normal. All 7 hunters in the raid group I was in looted a tome when they killed Zul.

I learned this on my Alliance hunter and when playing a Horde alt (lvl 118) I decided to try to tame a crawg (blood beast) *and it worked!* These books appear to be account-wide.

I was really fighting with myself to stay with WoW since the launch of BFA not wanting to toss away 14+ years in the game but this is just the last straw! There is just no way I am going to go through the Bull$#^* of filling out a job application for a raiding guild so I can get a hunter pet!

Just got it from normal Zul with an LFG group.

For everyone complaining about "needing" a guild to get this, just use LFG. Should be pretty easy to get in to a successful group at this point.

So, basically any changes in patch 8.2? Since LFR is not allowed to obtain and I do not play with any guilds in the game or lets alone a "PUG" then you are SOL?

At this point in the expansion normal-tier bosses in this raid only have about two or three times the amount of health of the average Uldum/Vale rare. This means you don't need a full raid to run the instance, just one tank, one healer, and six or more DPS depending on their ilvl and individual skill. I recommend being at least 400 for complete ease, which isn't hard to do if you're doing Vale/Uldum stuff.

It's nowhere near as hard as you're afraid it is. I know, because prior to this I only raided LFR to get the flying and N'zoth quest lines done and that is all the raiding that I do, and thought I would be in for a hell-slog. Instead it went so quickly and was so easy that we ended up clearing the whole thing. You'll probably even get high ilvl/skill players just doing their weekly farm for transmogs coming in.

Just make a normal difficulty group, state that you're just there for the book, and go for it fam.

Tomo della Bestia Ibrida is sold by Pan Mano Gentile in Trueshot Lodge for 1000 Risorse per l'Enclave. You need to have completed your class Order Campaign in order to buy this. Your hunter alts can buy it without having to re-do the campaign.
Tomo Insanguinato dei Sussurri Oscuri drops from Zul in Uldir on either Normal, Heroic or Mythic difficulty. It unlocks the taming ability for your other hunter(s) on your account.
Antico Tomo della Dinomanzia drops from the Dinomante Zandalaris on Isola dei Giganti. This is not account-wide, you will have to farm it again if you want it on your other hunter alts. Troll Zandalari hunters do not need this tome to tame Direhorns.
Come Istruire la Tua Serpe is sold by San Scaglia Rossa to players Exalted with the Ordine della Serpe delle Nubi. The tome can be used by any classes with the reputation and will unlock the taming ability for your other hunter(s) on your account.
Tomo Semplice del Vincolo d'Ossa is a world drop obtainable from elites in Maldraxxus and Piagafunesta. It unlocks the taming ability for your other hunter(s) on your account. Non Morto hunters do not need this tome to tame Undead beasts.
Meccamatrice di Stampa is crafted by engineers with the Schema: Meccamatrice di Stampa, which is sold by Xur'ios for 1 Moneta Xuriosa. The schematic is BoP, but the tome can be bought and sold at the auction house. It doesn't unlock account-wide for your hunter alts. Gnomo, Goblin and Meccagnomo hunters dot not need this tome to tame Mechanical beasts.
Manuale d'Addestramento dei Gargon drops from Mastro Cacciatore Petrus in Revendreth. It unlocks the taming ability for your other hunter(s) on your account.
Addomesticamento Lontruk is rewarded from the quest Finché il ferro è caldo. The questline can be started when you reach Renown 11 with the Tuskarr di Iskaara. It unlocks the taming ability for your other hunter(s) on your account.
Come Addestrare un Dragoide can be obtained from Kaestrasz after reaching Renown 23 with the Accordo di Valdrakken. Seems like it has to be your hunter that needs the reputation to obtain it, and cannot be obtained by another class. Unknown if it unlocks the ability to tame Dragonkins for your other hunter(s).

Tried to solo the Uldir raid to get this book today and it's pretty impossible. Pet wouldn't hold aggro on the first boss, and he has too many mechanics to to survive longer than a couple of minutes. And I just read elsewhere the last boss is probably impossible to solo even if you get past all the others because of its mechanics too.

Disappointing, since this is old content and no one is doing groups.

Managed to Solo Uldir Normal today as BM hunter ilvl 250.

Bosses:

Taloc : Dps dummy ( no real mechanics )

Mother : Just move her though the walls every 35% hp or so, probaly diden need to do it. But i diden recall the mechanics for her.

Fetid Devourer : Dps it down, never got to the heal mechanics of the fight.

Zek'voz, Herald of N'zoth : Dps him down, then killing the spectral adds he spawned and just keep dpsing him. No real issuse either.

Vectis : I had a few problems with ( mainly the ticking dot, he keeped stacking on me ). But managed to down him after a few tries, with timing turtle, resetting the dot and ressing pet + healing pots. Biggest thing is kill of the adds he spawns ontop of you. Since they make some of your healing absorbed, so you dont heal as great from your pets leech. The intermission phase is where he goes into the ground, avoid the beams coming from him and stand in 1 of the soak spots to remove a add spawn, 1 or 2 will still spawn in the intermission phase, so kill those fast aswell ( same adds as none intermission phase ).

Zul, Reborn : P1 wasent a problem, P2 he will cast a dot on you ( tank dot ) that stacks and ends up dealing alot of dmg, so a rotation of turtle / Ex / pot. Beside the dot in P2 is he will also mindcontrol you and make you jump over the edge. If timed, you can turtle the cast ( i did that ) and dps him down to 0% els you gotta disengage back to the platform as he jumps you off and hope you got enough dps to kill him before the dot kills you. He will also spawn small shadow adds ( looks like priest shadowfiend ) if you hit those ( they will fear you ) so kite those, but those where not really a problem.

After that you can loot the book

Super easy to solo Uldir normal through Zul now with decent Dragonflight gear. My BM hunter rolled through everything at ilvl 381; Zul didn't even cast the mind control due to dying too quickly after the phase change.

Mythrax is a much trickier problem, given that his mind control comes super early in the fight and will cause him to reset if you get affected, but realistically there's not much I want from the last two bosses here, so being able to get the tome easily is definitely nice!

Dropped for both hunters in a cross-faction group (1 Ally hunter; 1 Horde hunter; 2 other Alliance) not sure if that confirms a guaranteed drop, but it works on cross faction at least.
