At long last, a (still technically unnecessary so far but still available) upgrade for those of us who still have our Runed Elementium Rod. I'm only disappointed I didn't get to make the other twelve or so materials of enchanting wand we could have had in between them deciding "nah, a magic wand that a level 5 warrior could create is more than enough to handle any enchantment the defender of a shattered world, savior of pandaria, commander of their faction, the champion of argus, etc. could learn to do" and now.

ah yes, Verga Runica di Iwen...

because I want to use a Cristallo Velato to have some very explicitly-specific,
very-likely-garbage npc follow me around & aggro stuff for 30mins,
or until I hearth/teleport/whistle/taxi/relog/etc in which case it'll likely vanish.

what a complete waste of time, other than the Verga Runica di Iwen "Gain extra resources when disenchanting."
but there is no clear-cut definition of exactly what that entails yet lol

that being said, ofc I'm gonna get it...
but dang why the golem control at the price of enchanting mats?
seems like the most random thing ever.
I understand it fits with the Drust lore, but still. random.

EDIT: some are saying that Verga Runica di Iwen basically just allows you a CHANCE (so NOT 100%) at getting a Cristallo Velato from disenchanting BfA items that normally wouldn't give one.

TL/DR; BfA green items have a small chance to give a Cristallo Velato instead of the normal Polvere Tenebrosa and/or Scheggia Ombrale.

I think they should make the rod give you expulsom when disenchanting at the same rate the scrapper does. Maybe that's part of what they mean by saying it makes you "Gain extra resources when disenchanting."

Enchanters that are level 120 with 150 Skill Points in Battle for Azeroth Enchanting can unlock a special Tools of the Trade questline, rewarding Verga Runica di Iwen. Pick up the Enchanting quest starting from Incantatrice Quinni in Zuldazar or Emily Chiarosole in Boralus.

A full walkthrough of the Enchanting quest, which explains the lore of the Thornspeakers and the Drust, can be found here.

Upon completing the quest, you are awarded with Formula: Verga Runica di Iwen. To craft this item, you need:

10 Espulsom
10 Cristallo Velato
20 Scheggia Ombrale
50 Essenza Persistente dei Drust - NPCs in Waycrest Manor dungeon
Pietra Runica di Thros - Gorak Tul in Waycrest Manor dungeon
Braccio Ghermitore di Vimini - NPCs in Drustvar (need confirmation)

Verga Runica di Iwen allows you to summon golems to fight for you (requires 1 Veiled Crystal), and gain extra resources while disenchanting.(##RESPBREAK##)258##DELIM##perculia##DELIM##

It does indeed function as an Enchanting Rod, allowing you to finally get rid of that pesky Verga Runica di Rame.

Disenchanting: Only affects Battle for Azeroth items. The chance to gain extra materials is not guaranteed. This item will allow you to occasionally gain Cristallo Velato from rare quality items, which is not possible otherwise. Disenchanting with this item in your bags will not grant Espulsom.

Most useless thing ever. You can't even summon a Golem from the Rod. God knows where they're actually located in the world, and then spending a Veiled Crystal? :S

The lingering drust essence also drops from the hexwood seers and binders I got them all there but the drop rate isn't 1-1.

Don't trash your Runed Elementium Rod.. its unobtainable so it's a pretty neat item to have an as enchanter tbh.

I spent a veiled crystal so you don't have to.

I found an inert voodoo mask NPC sitting on the ground in Zuldazar. Interacting with it told me that a properly equipped enchanter could revive it. Clicking the Iwen's Enchanting Rod used up a veiled crystal from my bags (it cannot use veiled crystals from the bank) and brought it to life. I've also seen disabled "harvest golem" looking things on Kul Tiras which give similar text when interacted with.

You gain a 30 minute buff and so long as the buff is active the mask will follow you around attacking enemies you engage. It stealthed when I stealthed. It reappeared after using the flightmaster's whistle, taking a flight path, and sailing to Kul Tiras. However the buff was removed and the mask vanished when I entered a dungeon instance.

While doing some world questing it contributed about 3% of my damage, split between its melee attacks and a melee-range shadow damage spell it casts. It never pulled aggro from me (it also only had about 44k health so wouldn't have been much of a tank), and did no healing.

As expected it's very underwhelming. It could be a cute addition to sometimes have a mask or golem join you, but I'd rather have the veiled crystal.

Just made this item, and disenchanted 3 items already in my bags, a blue azerite chest pieces, a blue trinket and a green item, results where from these 3 items I received 12 Gloom Dust, 5 Umbra Shard and 1 Veiled Crystal. Crafted 8 x 225 i level sets of Tidespray Linen Bracers plus 2 x 233 of the same item. I disenchanted all and resulted in 83 gloom dust from the green items at average of 10 Gloom Dust. The 2 x 233 blue items gave ,me 3 Umbra Shards 3 Gloom Dust and 1 Veiled Crystal. This now looks to be an attempt to increase the mats either held by enchanters or to increase the mats available for purchase on the auction House. Doing a normal dungeon for the tailoring quest Brood Cleanser's Amice 340 i level disenchanted into 2 Umbra Shard, 1 Gloom Dust and 1 Veiled Crystal

I have found that there's NPCs out and about Drustvar that drop the Lingering Drust Essance. Anything that is considered "Ancient Drust Enemies" such as the stone and Awoken golems in the snow and the Wicker Beasts and Golems around any bewitched areas. Though going into a Waycrest Manor seems the most efficient way, you can only do a Mythic run once a week. So the best way is to go out there and find all of the wicker mobs and the Drust ancients you can and kill them all in packs.

Best way to get Essenza Persistente dei Drust, go to Corlain, and kill the Matrons (Matron Ceridwen, Adeline and Letitia) there, you can run around killing these three as they are tied into quests, their respawn rate is very fast. Even the Heartsbane Sisters can drop them sometimes. Got all of mine in less than 15 minutes. If you have the spell Straziastreghe, they die really fast....

i went Waycrest Manor normal in tool and got 6 Essenza Persistente dei Drust while in a 5man party. then i went there by my self and cleared the same mobs and bosses and got 26 of one run. another single run for the last ones.

It DOESN'T work if you put it on your bank.

Asked a GM before but he couldn't answer me because he didn't know. Well...so I tried with a lot of items. No proccs while at bank, many procs while in my own bags.

Make 1. Keep in bags for lots of extra enchanting mats. Not worth using on Golems.

This thing is probably the best of the new tools because you get an amazing amount of extra enchanting matts when you enchant.

While the golem/mask does have pretty low dps (about 1500-2000) it is mildly useful for rogues because it'll pick up aggro on a mob you're fighting. This lets you use a vanish to reset your openers, something you can't normally do when fighting mobs solo.

For farming Lingering Drust Essence:

Matron Adeline and Matron Ceridwen in Corlain, Drustvar, at coordinates 29, 29. Very fast respawn rate. By the time I kill off one, the other has respawned. 1-2 drops per kill.

So I tried out this item today, disenchanted 150xBracciali di Lino Spruzzato di Mare. There were 22xblue ones in this pack and here's what i received:

1363xPolvere Tenebrosa
32xScheggia Ombrale
8xCristallo Velato

I'm kinda disappointed, because I thought i'll get more Shards and Crystals but yeah, i felt like sharing this could be a useful info for you guys.

In case you didn't know or think about it:

After getting the Verga Runica di Iwen you might wanna consider Blizzard's item restoration option. (ESC > Help > Open a ticket > In-Game Issues > Items and mail > Item Restoration) It's free and you can restore up to 50 items you recently disenchanted/vendored/scrapped.

I just did that with 50 epics for the sole purpose of disenchanting them again and instead of 51 Cristallo Velato in my bags (had to C.O.D 50), I now have 64. Instead of 65 Scheggia Ombrale, i now have 102.

So I spent like 5 minutes for a significant gain in mats (which are gonna rise in value with patch 8.2).

A nice self reward for you after you have made the Enchanting Rod: If you go to Item restoration (on the toon with the rod Obviously) you can restore up to 50 items from the last 15 days. So restore all the disenchants that you did before you made the rod (make sure you have enough mats on your char).

When you collect the restored items you will be able to disenchant them again. Only now that you are doing it with Irwen's Enchanting Rod you will get the extra materials. I got extra mats with all classes of items from greens to Azerite.

So restore, re-disenchant and enrich yourself.......

Money for nothing and the chicks are free.

A full solo clear, (all trash and bosses) of Waycrest Manor on normal got me everything I needed to craft this item (did it as a 436 unholy DK pretty easily)

To farm the dust, the most effective place I found is the trash in waycrest mansion but only hitting specific parts. Most of the wings only gave a couple dust whereas others gave me upwards of 6 per pull and when I adapted around this after the first run I got the last 30 dust very quickly

First of all, do a full clear with the necessary bosses before you worry about the dust. Multiple bosses have a heavy control mechanic on the active tank which in a solo run is your face if you don't have a pet making it impossible to solo short of one shot burst which is beyond my means. If you don't have a hunter pet like my demon huntering arse, que for a heroic dungeon and then suggest a speed run. The group guaranteed has at least one geared person that can annihilate all of the trash between bosses and then burst down the boss if the group allows for it. I can't confirm but I'm pretty sure the droprate is 100% for each item

Having all the boss specific components don't bother with a group. The dust is a drop chance per loot so in a full group you're only getting a theoretical 20% of the dust. Go into waycrest mansion on normal, go up the stairs to the right past Raal the Gluttonous. Kill the trash around Raal but don't bother with the boss himself unless you're short on umbra shards. From there go into the central courtyard up to the Soulbound Goliath, killing all the trash up to him

For maximum efficiency you can choose to self sacrifice and respawn at the beginning of the instance rather than run all the way back once all the trash is cleared. Just agro the Soulbound Goliath and let him kill you. If you have a hearthstone toy such as the Nobel Gardener's Hearthstone you can safely destroy your hearthstone and still hearth after since the toy goes directly from your toy spellbook. To do so hit escape, help, character stuck, return to graveyard. There is no repair bill if you kill yourself this way. Having not thought of this until after I made the enchanting rod, I allowed the Soulbound Goliath to kill me multiple times and spent 312 in repairs after which isn't so much anyway

I wasn't even able to do the questline to get this item until my enchanting was 150/175. Most professions give you quests at around level 50 or so. This would have been so useful if I had gotten it earlier rather than later.

Will the increased disenchanting yields carry over to future expansions or does it only apply to BfA items.

Edit: I think it's only BfA items. I disenchanted some older items and always got only 1x of each gem.

I just did a solo run (including most, but not all, trash mobs) and got the 50 Essence along with the Wicker Arm & the Runestone. Guess they have increased the drop rate of the Essence with 8.3.

Incase anyone is wondering, no it does not increase the amount of mats gained in shadowlands. I just created a new runed copper rod and put this in my bank, DE'd a crafted blue then switched rods and DE'd the exact same crafted blue and got the same amount of mats. So now its just an epic enchanting rod.

This is for 9.0.2 just had a double eternal crystal when disenchanting an iLVL 184 piece of mail hands, I've also had 3 blue disenchants give double sacred shard. I do not know if its the rod or what.

I'm assuming this doesn't affect Shadowlands disenchanting. Does anyone know if there is a similar item for increasing disenchanting drops for SL similar to this item? Should I just DE all the greens (or vendor them depending on AH values)?
