Alliance: Go upstairs in the archaeology building to the three stacked packages in the corner. The blade is on top of the bottom left package and will give a hand to click.

What a stupid quest. It is far from "on display", and even when you place it down it's half hidden under one of those bales!

For the Alliance side of this quest, go upstairs to the second floor and to the large stone slab in the back corner. Face the slab and futz with the camera angle; the item is on the backside of the stone slab. I was able to see it when I scrolled out as far as I could then slowly rotated the camera until it was half in frame diagonal and I could see the place to click on behind the slab.

The image shown has been duplicated by my actions (I'm awaiting approval of my own submission), and here's how to recreate what was done.

This is the information for the Boralus quest!

It's on the top floor INSIDE the statue (currently, though I hope Blizzard fixes this) - the statue could be hoisted OUTSIDE in my opinion.

If you look at the statue it actually shows what looks like an arrow pointing down. Stand against the statue in this place with your right side hugging the statue.

You know you're in the correct place if, when zooming in to have "first-person camera zoom" you see the four floor nails at your feet. They are almost a north-south-east-west position if you compare them with the mini-map. Your left foot should close to the EAST nail. YOU are facing almost SOUTH when your right shoulder is against the statue.

Zoom in the camera so that you have it at the SAME height as the TOP of the statue (NOT above but at same height as the top of the statue). Now move the camera angle anti-clockwise until it clips (push down the left button on your mouse so the camera angle shifts but you stay put). Do the motion slow!

When you've clipped the camera sufficiently, you'll see the quest item (the screenshot above is what it looks like), and then STOP moving the camera angle and move the mouse cursor to the quest item, then click it and you got the quest completion you wanted.

Additional thought: The fact the statue has what looks like an arrow on it makes me think it's a type of puzzle and that the discovery in this way is intentional, but that said I'm more convinced it's bugged as hell like others stated before me.
