As a 70 resto druid farming these for a shaman alt, I've found that the quickest way to get these is to farm Morphaz and Hazzas in ST. Takes just a little over 5 minutes to get in and out again and reset it, and it yields an average of 5 scales per run. If you have a level 50+ lootbuddy, clearing all the other green dragonkin in there can also yield a lot of scales (and other leather) in a fairly short period of time.

A Quick way i found to farm Dragonscales!

Sunken Temple! in Swamp of Sorrows: keep in mind, the dragon bosses drop only 1-2 thick or rugged leathers, so you can skip the tunnels and boss chambers.... It only takes 10 minutes per run, too!: Just run in, start at one side, and circle main room grabbing all welps and wyrmkin elites in center and alittle ways into a couple hallways, exit instance, reset, and repeat. After like 30-40 mins, and a few circles, I left with:

160+ Rugged leather
50+ thick leather
42 Worn Dragon scales
70-80 Green Dragon scales!
and again, a few random hides as well. So fast!

If you are interested in the Green Dragonscale set (the Breastplate, Leggings, and Gloves), clearing and skinning the Sunken Temple a few times should net you ~~all the Green Dragonscales you need, as well as~~ multiple copies of the related patterns (the Breastplate pattern and the Leggings pattern). The Gloves pattern is taught by all Leatherworking trainers, requiring Leatherworking 280. To make the full set, you will need:

I just sold a complete set of this for 1000g, mentioning it in Trade Chat. When someone jumps on something like that, I never know if I'm shortchanging myself, if I'm at the exact right price, or if I just caught the right person online. (yeah, all of the above, but still.) Opinions?

I found that the sunken temple is the best place to get the green and worn dragonscales so thanks to everyone for your advice, and always Happy Hunting.

Just to confirm that Sunken Temple is a good place for Green Dragonscales despite the changes since WotLK.
You can shorten your time by avoiding the bosses and trolls if you wish, but you are still limited to the 5 resets an hour.

Just shy of patch 5.4, the dragonkin in Sunken Temple are still a most excellent source for Scaglie di Drago Verde. Three complete clears of all the dragonkin inside the Temple resulted in 69 Scaglie di Drago Verde (level 90 Hunter, 600 skinning, and , which is a level 23 Guild perk).

Check the auction house before you try to farm these. They should be relatively cheap to buy, because nobody wants them. Anyone who skins the level 52 Sunken Temple will get plenty of these. And yet they are a reagent for just one trained Guanti Lunghi di Scaglie di Drago Verde, which really does not need to be made for anyone who is leveling Conciatura. The other two patterns (Modello: Pettorale Corazzato di Scaglie di Drago Verde and Modello: Gambiere di Scaglie di Drago Verde) drop in Sunken Temple with the frequency of a trash item, and yet they are annoyingly BoP. All three patterns make relatively trashy "rare" armor (nature resistance is situational, at best), which means green dragonscale is briefly and only slightly useful for leatherworking casters (you will have a hard time selling them). Any leatherworking caster who regularly runs dungeons is already likely to have better gear.

Patch 6.0.2 I farmed 17 Worn & 60 GreenD in 4 runs of dragonkin in the Temple of Atal Hakar dungeon. As of Patch 6.0.3, they did not drop ANY Green or Worn Dragonscale from skinning. Ran the place 4 x to make sure. Ironically, came away with 25 patterns which use GDS. Seems therefore your only chance of obtaining these is from Chromagnus in BWL, while the offer lasts.

My luck hasn't been very good. I have gotten each of the leatherworking patterns 5 times, for a total of 15.

6.1.0 (2972) Does anyone know if Blizzard has changed the drop rate or location? Because I have just ran Sunkin Temple for the 3rd time in a row without a single Green Dragonscale drop and i need to know if they moved them somewhere else or if i just have to be more patient.

Since 6.0.3, Scaglie di Drago Verde has been broken for Sunken Temple. As of 6.1.2, there are still no Scaglie di Drago Verde drops from looting or skinning anything in Sunken Temple and there is no sign from Blizzard that this will ever be remedied. A similar problem affects Scaglie di Drago Consumate (q.v. comments). I do not know if Scaglie di Drago Verde can be gotten from skinning Cromaggus in Fortezza dell'Ala Nera. Since 6.0.3, all I have ever gotten from skinning Cromaggus was Cuoio Duro and the rare Scaglia Cromatica Brillante.

Well as of Patch 6.1.2 on 6/14/15 at 1430 EST a GM told me that " they know about these not dropping and that there is a fix on its way" i asked for an ETA of this fix and was told "it should hit in the next few months" and that if they still don't show up that it needs to be reported as a bug....so off to leveling for me i guess....

Patch 6.2.0, green dragonscale and worn dragonscale just dropped for me yesterday while skinning mobs in the Sunken Temple. Seems to be fixed again.

Any post prior to 6.0 is now completely inaccurate as far as drop rates for Scaglie di Drago Verde is concerned. Let me put it gently, I had one run in Sunken Temple that yeilded 4 Scaglie di Drago Verde and I nearly !@#$ myself. Not even joking, my average yield was 1 Scaglie di Drago Verde per run, out of 40 runs.

Jut did one run of Sunken Temple today on realm Malfurion, and can confirm the drop rates are still very low. One full run, skinning all mobs, got me this:

Rugged Leather - 49
Rugged Hide - 1
Thick Leather - 32
Thick Hide - 1
Worn Dragonscale - 4
Green Dragonscale - 4

I'm so glad I saved up a bunch of it over the past few years, to have enough to make the tmog set, because farming it now is a @#$%^. Happy hunting!

I just did 6 runs through the Sunken Temple. I received:

A lot of junk

184 rugged leather
202 thick leather
5 worn dragonscale
9 green dragonscale

I used to get a ton of the dragonscales out of here. I wish blizz would fix it.

I just finished 8 runs and got all of 10 green dragon scales. I had several of those runs with NO scales skinned at all. This is insane! Come on Blizz fix this already...oh, but I got at least 10 recipies each of the Green Dragonscale armor pieces.

I put in a ticket since some thought that this was a bug issue from previous tickets, and apparently it's not. The bad drop rates are by design.

From experience I also know that these scales are tough to farm. :S It's not unintended or bugged in any way though, just a low overall drop rate and availability. Like anything else, it's subject to change - but for now it can be difficult to farm them and pure luck with RNG is involved. In this case I definitely understand contacting us to make sure it wasn't bugged though, so you aren't wasting your time farming. I can confirm they do (though reluctantly) drop with some patience.

Alright, I'm an individual just farming these scales for transmog outfits. I decided to just give Sunken Temple a go one last time to see if the drop rate had increased. I believe it has. Did ten runs of just the front room. I got 25 Green Dragon Scales and 12 Worn Dragonscales.....So fear not fellow transmogers you can still make those outfits that have just about been impossible to get made due to extremely expensive mats. There is no need to pay thousands in gold for only a few scales. I'm pretty sure prices are still super high on the AH because word hasn't gotten out that this has been fixed. Happy farming all.

As of patch 7.3.2 I am averaging 2-4 Green Dragonscales and 2-5 Worn Dragonscales after running Temple of Atal'Hakkar six times. The drop rate has gone down significantly so if you see any cheap ones on the AH, be sure to grab those.

Best place I found was Sunken Temple. I also found that instead or running the whole dungeon the best strategy is to just kill the mobs in the inner circle, port out, reset and start over.

9 runs of Sunken Temple - Including all Dragonkin in and around The Pit of Sarcrifice, including Wardens of the Dream bosses. Run out, reset, repeat.

In amongst countless Modello: Gambiere di Scaglie di Drago Verde , Modello: Pettorale Corazzato di Scaglie di Drago Verde , gems, BoE greens and vendor trash, I skinned;

9 Pelle Spessa
260 Cuoio Spesso
339 Cuoio Duro
20 Scaglie di Drago Consumate
25 Scaglie di Drago Verde

Time consuming, but hopefully this gives hope to those wanting to farm it themselves.

I've been farming both the green and worn dragonscales. I'm going to say that the percentages showing here on Wowhead are not accurate, so this must have been nerfed at some point.

Out of 22 runs I've done so far, I've gotten:
42 Green Dragonscales
56 Worn Dragonscales
742 Rugged Leather
637 Thick Leather

This includes killing the 2 mobs outside the instance whenever I go out to reset the instance.

I had been running the whole instance because I still had some transmog from boss drops I didn't have. I do tend to go partway down the first 2 hallways on the left (as you enter) to grab those mobs as well. If you sell any transmog, you will probably also want to grab the trolls in the first room too.

Drop rate nerfed when BfA came out; just run in, aggro everything in the central room, mow them down. Skin them IMMEDIATELY, as the corpses will start to despawn in the amount of time it takes to do the whole pile. Only averaging about 3 per clear, but it takes FAR less time than running down all the bosses for a chance at another scale. Made a few bucks with rare greens on the AH too.
