Spawn Info

Vixx can spawn in both the Heroic and Mythic version of the instance.
If Vixx is up a message will appear in the chat as soon as the first boss dies "Ah he he he! What a lovely day for meeeeeee!"
If Vixx spawns far away from you or if Zuraal l'Asceso dies while you are inside the Void Realm then you might not see the message
You can /target Vixx as soon as Zuraal l'Asceso dies to check if he is up or not.
Vixx can spawn during any active World Quest.

Engaging Vixx

Vixx has a huge aggro range, so run at him while mounted to close the distance.
Once engaged in combat, Vixx will cast Scivolata Dimensionale to get away similar to the goblins from Diablo 3 so you will have to interrupt or stun him.

Farming Vixx

You can farm Vixx on mythic by creating a creating a group with a friend or by opening one in Premade Groups
Once you have defeated Zuraal l'Asceso, you can run out and reset the instance

Rewards

The drop chance is pretty high, the loot is personal and, if you're lucky enough, you can get both toys from a single kill.
Cassa di Trucchi di Vixx - Disguises you as a wyrmtongue treasure-collector and give you title for 10 minutes.

An old guildie of mine would farm this 8 times a day on different toons for over a month. I have killed him many times and never got the toy yet. We have since went our separate ways for BFA. My question is, Is it usable in combat?

Can be used on low level alts. Remember your hearthstone.. Unlike I did, on my level 1 bank alt.

Just to be up-to-date, I looted this today, and it still works on goblins/worgen to get them out of their starting zones, although my level 1 Goblin had a fairly deathsome run across Nagrand BC. Remember to send your poor level 1s some money so they can catch the nearest flight path!

After what seems like months of daily farming, I finally got the toy. After seeing Vixx yell, I invited a rogue from my second account (because I read somewhere that it has higher chance to drop if there are more people in the party), and it finally dropped.. for both accounts! Not sure if I'm very lucky or if this is intended. I could post a screenshot but not sure if that's allowed or immediately removed..

First I just want to say I've been playing WoW for over a decade and I've never taken the time to join a website to make a comment until now. That said...

After farming Vixx for months because I want his toys, specifically his - I have this recommendation for those considering doing it: don't.

Let me explain what you're getting yourself into ... First off, the information you'll find elsewhere considering Vixx is erroneous. There's a rumor he spawns on Mythic, perhaps someone has actually witnessed this, perhaps it is in the coding of the game that he potentially can spawn in Mythic, but I will tell you I've run Mythic 300+ times to check and spoken to others who ran it endlessly too. Results: He didn't spawn 1 time on Mythic for any of us. To clarify, you can party with someone and run into a Mythic, kill the first boss, exit the dungeon and reset the instance and try again. It's possible he used to spawn on Mythic and Blizzard changed it. I even opened a ticket and spoke to a GM about this rumor, and apparently THEY say he spawns on Mythic. After prying further I found out the GM was just getting his information off this website and regurgitating it to me. So as it stands, Vixx spawning on Mythic is either a rumor or such a low percentage that it's very tough to make it happen by running Mythics over and over.

Furthermore, you have to realize Vixx's Heroic spawn rate is very low. About 7%. Which is about 1 spawn per 14 runs. Then, his toy drop rate is actually low. I know people online have been saying it's high - but it isn't. Maybe it used to be, but I think Blizzard realized a lot of people are farming these toys and they lowered the drop rate. Which was smart of them to do because I've been re-subbing each month just to log in, farm it, and log off. They are a business and they do analyze things to maximize their revenue, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vixx was altered. In fact, I know his code was touched because if you have noticed lately he is showing up with a Gold dragon portrait, and was previously always a Silver dragon portrait just a month ago and prior. So that could possibly be proof his code was likely touched by the Blizz devs.

Also, I want to add that if you are killing Vixx and looting from him, that I heard if you're carrying 10 of these, he will no longer drop any loot for you anymore. Because max out at a stack of 10, and this will make the game's code not drop anymore of them for you, including the rest of his loot table, the toys. So definitely make sure you get those out of your bags or you'll be farming him endlessly for no reason. Brutal right?

And finally, back to the math - Vixx spawns about 7% of runs, but his toys drop % is very obscure knowledge. But I have personally killed him an abundance of times across multiple toons, farming him every single day, and only got his . I have yet to see , which is the one I actually want. So I would estimate each toy is probably around a 3-5% drop rate from what I have personally witnessed. So here is where the math gets crazy: If he spawns 7% of the time, and his toys are around a 4% drop rate... This makes getting each toy = 4% of 7% ... which is 0.002 which mean every time you enter The Seat of the Triumvirate you have a .2% of walking out with a toy. So if you're looking to farm this, be ready to possibly find yourself staring down 500 runs.

I just wanted to put this all out there because I've pretty much halted my WoW playing but I have been making getting this one toy my little WoW hobby and I've noticed there is a huge obscurity of information concerning it all online.

Finally, I noticed other people on Vixx's wowhead page saying “During patch 8.3.0 loot legacy rules started applying to Legion instances making Vixx's Chest of Tricks and Unstable Portal Emitter an almost sure drop from Vixx the Collector.” This is the type of false information that can ruin someone's month. The chance of leaving The Seat of the Triumvirate with Vixx's toys is still abysmally small, please don’t listen to false data like this.

In conclusion, I want to say that Blizzard really needs to add spawn and drop % data into the Dungeon Journal. Even consulting a GM resulted in receiving false information that they simply found online themselves. It’s borderline evil having people farm something with obscure information regarding the item because it costs them their real time, their real effort, and their real money.

So if you are still determined to farm these toys, go for it, you will eventually get them if you don’t relent - I just wanted people to know ahead of time what they’re getting themselves into so they don’t just jump into it and get angry and find themselves farming something they wouldn’t have even begun trying to get had they had all the vital data ahead of time.

This toy is easy to get. Don't listen to the others who say its very hard.

Park you alts outside the dungeon. Make sure its set to Heroic. Kill the first boss and if you see "Ah he he he! What a lovely day for meeeeeee!" in your chat then the rare is up.

He is easy to be killed if you have 400 item level or higher. If he casts his portal ability, simply silence or stun him otherwise he will vanish.

He has about 1 in 10 chance of appearing in heroic. The toys are not a 100% chance but quite high. About 50% he will drop a toy.

Goodluck! I got both toys in about 30 runs. 5 of those runs had the rare.

FINALLY DROPPED! ... after several weeks of running 12 characters through Seat of the Triumvirate -- both daily (heroic) and weekly (mythic).

Of course, I immediately used it, and was safely transported to a high branch in a tree in Northrend > Cystalsong Forest @ 93, 48.

A short flight west to nearby Dalaran.

Hey there folks!

Wanted to follow up after receiving this wonderful little toy in Shadowlands.

This may be entirely dumb luck on my part, but over 10 characters, and 105 attempts to get it, I got 0 spawns for the first 70 tries. Then I found vixx with the /tar Vixx macro, after finally seeing his script pop up once defeating the first boss. Both then and on kill 90, the toy did not drop. All of those were solo...up until attempt 105.

At that point, I entered in on an alt with a friend for some fun... And lo and behold, Vixx spawned on the first attempt with a friend.

Better than that, He dropped BOTH toys for myself, and both of us received the Unstable Portal Emitter upon looting!

Either that is incredibly dumb luck, or there may be some merit to grouped attempts having better chances at dropping the toys. Both other attempts to solo it resulted in only finding a box of void-touched critters, in the 2 times I got the spawn out of 105 attempts.

TL;DR -- BRING A FRIEND!!
This may be random coincidence, but I'll take some free luck by way of a party-up.
Yes, he does still spawn in shadowlands, No word if mythic is possible for a spawn, all of mine were on a heroic lockout.

Posting my experience.

I have 4 max level characters. Their ilvl as of feb 2021 is about 180 on average. All of my runs were done solo heroic. Went in every time and killed the first boss and checked for vixx's emote that he screams. The emote was always the tell that he was there. There was several times that the /target vixx macro couldn't pick him up right after the boss kill because his random spawn in the void fields was just out of range. Getting closer to the building after the first boss allowed me to target vixx with the macro at that point. He doesn't seem to flee until you get close to him but once there you have to slow or stun him immediately or he will warp out almost instantly. I've also had one or two attempts end because I took to long to find him so I think he has a Timmer that will trigger his warp eventually.

His spawn point seems to be random in the second area called the shadowguard incursion. For me he typically spawned further in the area near the top left/west or top right/east area. I would typically mount after the first boss/ vixx's emote and run for the building, trigger the cut open dialog, then I would bolt for the upper areas and just scan the view constantly to locate him. His chest is pretty obvious but I always felt in a rush to find him since he doesn't appear on the map. I did not test an rare mob scanners so I don't know if they would pin point him better.

I did almost 20 runs before I saw him the first time. It may seem like he will never spawn but it just seems to be completely random. After the first time I started seeing once or twice a week on 4 daily runs. I spent about 3 weeks devoted to it. Did over 40 runs with 5 or 6 encounters before he dropped the toy.

I see a lot of people on here saying it was quick or is was super long. People have said he never spawns or he does pretty regularly. People talk about heroic counting or not. I wish blizzard would either set this to a traditional encounter so he spawns always after your 3rd or say 4th boss run and then drop the toy chance down to 1% or the better idea would be to come out with the rough details about the bosses spawn mechanics. This would at least confirm what people need to do rather then driving a community insane because they want something but every ones experience is different.

Got it after 16 Vixx the Collector kills on Heroic

I had 40 level 50 chars camped there, and it took roughly 3 days so ~100 instances.

As of Shadowlands 9.2 both toys still drop from Vixx. Make sure you create a macro: /target Vixx. That way you will know he is up even before going through the wall after the first boss. I parked 6 alts at the dungeon entrance. Ran on Heroic daily and weekly on Mythic (just twice). Never saw Vixx on Mythic. Probably one chance in 6 he was up. Took about 10 days of this for both toys to drop. He is now killed in under 5 seconds so no chance he can run away
Interestingly neither toy is actually logged in your Toy Box 'as missing' so you don't know they exist until you find out by places like this. Just to be clear. Vixx can be found after the 1st boss in the Dungeon 'Seat of the Triumvirate' in Eredath (22 58) - Argus. If your alt hasn't been there unfortunately you will need to follow a small bread crumb trail just enough to access this area and the dungeon

I was pleasantly surprised that this was easier than expected so perhaps the drop chance has improved? Now I need to park all my alts somewhere else!

Still drops as of patch 10.0.

When the pre-patch first landed I didn't get Vixx to spawn first few days on my 8 toons and I thought it might have got broken but no. It's just unfortunate RNG. But then the first time he spawned he finally dropped this forsaken toy for me. Rarity count 41 kills but it was in fact more, over 50 I guess. So I was VERY unfortunate RNG wise but the nightmare is finally over.

One of the locations in The Netherstorm is high above the void, so if you dont have some kind of Goblin Glider to move your fall direction, bye bye..

Worth noting that wowhead's sample size for this drop rate is incredibly small. I've killed Vixx 200 times (20% of wowhead's sample size) and it hasn't dropped. Thousands of instances, close to a year of farming daily. The other toy has dropped countless times.

The drop rate is almost certainly much lower than the claimed 16%.

I can confirm that Vixx still drops this as of 2/16/23.

I ran heroic Seat (solo) roughly 40 times with several alts over several days. Vixx spawned four times in that stretch. The first three spawns dropped neither toy. The fourth spawn dropped both.

I feel almost guilty posting this considering the long and agonizing farms described by others on this page -- but I figure the more data points out there on this elusive gadget, the better.

May everyone farming this get as stupidly lucky as I did.

Drop rate is way way off. Over 20 kills an 10 of the chest of tricks have dropped with no sign of the emitter.

9 runs a day on heroic (across all of my alts.) The OTHER toy vixx drops has dropped four times now. This one? Not so much.
