You need to get this quest to get the reagent. The quest giver is in your class hall besides the portal if you have Ritual of Doom researched.

As of patch 7.03 this only works for regular world quests.
It cannot be used for neither Elite (including blue exclamation point and dragon frame) nor the Weekly raid world quests.

These can be bought and sold on the auction house. I assume only Warlocks can use them, but I was unable to test this.

Using the phylactery to complete world quests will still count for completions towards the hidden artifact skin.

Just used this from Dalaran on a PvP World Quest for Stormheim (with my Snowfeather Hatchiling summoned). I got full credit: Honor, Artifact Power, and the first of my three needed PvP World Quests toward the Snowfeather mount.

To use it, it must be in your bags. When you open your world map you will see a green infernal icon in the corner. Determine the wq you want to complete, then click the infernal icon and click on your quest location on the map. You'll get an instant completion, and the reward.

You cannot use this through the companion app at this time, and it does not show up as a minion work order for me when I already have an item.

The 18 hour cooldown is on casting the actual spell for which this work order gives the reagent. So it's not possible to use the app at weird times to exploit the 18h cooldown to be able to use it most efficiently - you'll have to log in to the game to do the same.

For those who don't care for PvP but still want the sweet mount from Free For All, More For Me, completing the four brawl quests using the phylactery gives credit towards the achievement.

A bit of a slow grind, with an 18 hour cool down, but it cuts out a lot of ganking. 😁

I know this may seem obvious, But this is worthless to non-Warlocks. My friend mailed one to my Hunter as an experiment (they weren't always BOP) & now it is soul bound...

I'm kind of afraid to just throw it away in the street. ;)

Don't put this in your bank and then forget about it like I did. Couldn't complete the quest and couldn't gather another one of these. Had the option to use it, but couldn't. Didn't realize it was in a bank bag. About an hour of frustration because I forgot where I put it.

The Demonic Phylactery and its cousins (for other classes) are affected by and in some cases blocked by some addons. I don't know if there is a comprehensive list anywhere but my experience with this one (which I couldn't get to work at all for about six months) has been that Grail definitely interferes with it. Another quick fix (works sometimes) is to uncheck the "Load out-of-date Addons" box on the Addon list. For reasons I can't figure out but must be related to game mechanics, the Warlock Phylactery is more difficult to interface with addons than Mage or Warrior equivalents.

Stay on the ground!

If you use this item while you're flying and the result will be you lvl up (normal lvl or honor lvl) - you'll get dismounted and fall to your death!

My main had the Demonic Phylactery in her bags when she was character copied to the Beta.

It currently shows as a grey item called Inactive Demonic Phylactery on Beta.

It no longer works, but can be vendored for 15 gold.

The demonic phylactery is inactive as of the pre-patch for Battle for Azeroth and can no longer be used to complete world quests.
