If you use any of the 8 tomes, you will unlock illusion in your Wardrobe corresponding to the tome you used. It can only be used once and can be sold on auction house.

Unsure whether you already have the illusions or not? Wild text appears when you try to consume it while knowing illusions already; You've already collected these appearances.

Thus no need to doublecheck from Appearances menu. You can't accidentally try to get them again.

If you're interested in farming the mats for this (and making bank on the AH!):

Essence of Undeath can be easily farmed at Corrin's Crossing in Eastern Plaguelands (55, 62).
Essence of Water from Purespring Elementals around the Purespring Cavern in Swamp of Sorrows (19, 66)
Essence of Fire can be farmed in Molten Core.

These illusions can't be used with Artifact weapons, sadly.

Tome of Illusions are not bound when picked up. You don't have to be an enchanter and can simply buy them at the Auction House. Don't ask me how I found out.
