Any idea on the proc rate of this trinket?

First Post so sorry for little to no formatting.
Just got this as a regular drop in Mythic Quality on my Demon Hunter (Havoc.)

Testing:

Popped up the stop watch and auto-attacked for 10 minutes.

Findings:

Damage is increased by Versatility only.
The damage can critically hit, initial damage and return can crit or not-crit independently
The damage is dealt twice, once on proc and then on return.
The shadow waves dealing damage are in a Cross, the shadows move outwards and then back to the location that it proc'd at.

The PPM is quite difficult to nail down, and managed to proc 12 times in 10 minutes of auto-attack, why i say it is difficult to nail-down the exact ppm is because at 8:37 of my timer it managed to proc 4 times before reaching 9:27, where as on minute 3:35 it took till 5:30 to proc again, which suggests this trinket is highly unreliable.

Conclusion
Unless mastery is your primary stat i would heavily suggest NOT to use this trinket at single mob fights, even if mastery is your primary stat this trinket may be too unreliable to be useful, if the procs came at a steady rate this trinket may be good for single-target fights. I would only recommend this in fights with a lot of adds or AoE encounters, but bare in mind you may suffer quite a loss of DPS in the single target phase as this trinket has no primary stat.

Dungeon Testing Conclusion
This trinket was 4th in my damage done on a single target boss fight with 12 procs, understandable the fight wasn't 10 minutes long and i had a high rate of procs. also noticed it procs from spells such as Fel Rush and Glaive Throw so the ranged abilities of a demon hunter may proc this.

For Retribution Paladins, this works off of all attacks. The proc rate is low, and subjected to RNG. Unknown ICD, as I haven't tested this extensively.

I got the mythic titanforge 860 version has close to 1k mastery and the damage is 124k.

From what I can see it procs a lot I figure around 3-4 procs a minute in my case.

I did discover one major issue involving the range of it, if you are in an instance such as eye of azuna be prepared to pull extra trash such as turtles, snails, and seagulls with it. I was testing it through a normal heroic and EoA just happened to be what popped up, I pulled 3 seagulls, 2 turtles, and one snail with it. wasn't a big deal on heroic where I was carrying the group with 300k dps but on mythic 2+ that would be an insta boot.

Also I am a ret paladin for those that like that info.

Got it today a Mythic 10 titanforged version (ilvl 880) did some tests, as UH DK:

Here are some facts:
- The damage increases with Unholy mastery: Dreadblade and Versatility.
- With my 64% mastery and 2.4% vers I have minimum hits of 260k and crits around 570k. On single target this is around 7% damage.
- As toamuka said the shadow waves are in cross (with you at the center).
-The proc seems to have no ICD, is just RNG, but you can expect a bit more than 1 PPM (4 waves per proc).
- On some single target fights I got 4 hits at 1 proc (2 waves and 2 returns). So I think the waves damage are position dependant.
- Sometimes some waves won't return or won't do damage at the return. Noticed this on a dummy: 1 proc, 1 wave hit and no more. just 250k damage that time. After many tries there was an odd number of hits (with the trinket mechanics you should expect an even number of hits). Not sure if this is some kind of bug or some waves miss the target.

As UH DK this trinket is very good on ST even if you have not much mastery. I replaced a trinket with 1177 str and 915 haste for this, and my dps increased almost 10k. But is on Aoe where this trinket shines.

I got an 880 version of this so I figured I would give it a chance as a Vengeance Demon Hunter.

The proc rate is highly unstable, however with just 1 proc a minute (which is almost guarnteed), this hits about 5% of my dps singletarget. Which makes it notably worse than The Devilsaur's Bite (830+) and Spontaneous Appendages (850) for all single target situations. Both of the above trinkets deal 10% of my single target dps, as such this trinket deals half as much damage in a single target situation.

However! When I began cleaving, this item's dps skyrocketed.

Again with just 1 proc a minute, this sustained 14% of my dps against 2 targets, beating both Appendages(8%) and Bite(8%) by a large margain. This trinket dealt almost twice as much damage in a 2-target cleave situation.

Against 5 targets, again with 1 proc over a the duration of a minute, the nexus dealt 8.4% of my dps which seems little however since Veng DH has great aoe, it is unfair to compare it to my total damage and instead you can compare it to the damage dealt by Appendages(3.1%) and Bite(2.5%) tested vs. 5 taragets. Comapred to these other trinkets, this trinket dealt almost 3 times as much in a target rich enviroment.

I am Item Level 875, with an item level 845 Devilsaur's Bite and an item level 850 Appendages. The difference in item levels is however negligable because the damage the procs do is almost identical (about 10% more or less) between 850 and 895.

Here are some of my Havoc Demon Hunter findings:

In AoE situations, this beats out literally every other trinket I could try. There is no better trinket for aoe, even though this trinket has Mastery which sucks as Havoc.

In Single Target situations, this trinket is highly unstable. I've had it deal 20% of my dps over 2 minutes... and sometimes 4%. It really depends on procs. I think its not worth the RNG dependancy.

I noticed that when the trinket procs, when the waves return, they return at your position, not where it proc'd. so to try to maximize damage, you might be able to have it proc, then run to the opposite side of the boss or whatever you are fighting, to try to force two waves to cross the enemy to return to you. *Edit* the waves will not all do damage to the same enemy if you run to the opposite side, you will still only get two hits.

Just got this from the Relinquished Trinket (Warforged 920) on my Unholy DK. 1,272 Mastery and 229,803 Shadow damage.

It DOES scale with your mastery. Normal hits (at 102% mastery) are about 550k. Crits are approximately 1.1M. This scaling is crazy good for Unholy, plus a solid 1.2k mastery boost? The thing hits just as hard as KJBW when it crits, without taking up a legendary slot. This trinket with Taks shoulders and Cold Heart would make you a single target nightmare.
