You can gather, interact with objects (quest or otherwise), use the Stormheim grappling hook and last but not least loot corpses.

You can cast it while mounted. Lost on death. Lasts for 2 hours for regular users and 8 hours for blacksmiths.

YOU CAN NOT FIGHT MOUNTED WITH THIS.

You can't use quest items in your inventory with this. Well you can but you get dismounted...

This will probably not work when flying is in. At least I hope it does not, especially for gathering.

Replacement for the level 1 stables buff, which is the best thing ever, since it allows gathering on a flying mount, and also mining while flying within mining range of the node.
This, along with Sella per Grancorno will be must haves when gathering in Legion.

The bardings I can make on my LW, and I hope the stirrups will be affordable, or I'll have to make a blacksmith just to supply my gatherer with them.

I've made 3 of these so far and they keep getting removed - none have lasted more than 1 hour (have not died)

These must've gotten hotfixed without being mentioned in the notes, because they DO NOT get removed on death, as I just died twice during a World Quest (once I ran back to my corpse, the other time I was rezzed by a group member) and they were still active. The same goes for the Leystone Hoofplates.

EDIT: As of 10/7/16 these have been hotfixed despite not appearing in the notes. I am currently standing in Dalaran with both these and the Hoofplates still active.

Its a pitty you lose the effect on death.. Hopefully they change it into persisting thru death.

These things are pretty useless. I know there is a book buff from my class hall that drops when you go from Dalaran to the Broken Isles because you pass a Great Sea threshhold which doesn't count as part of the Broken Isles.

What I didn't know is that it also drops off on ANY flight path even within the Broken Isles.

So for 8 Demonsteel Bars it is a terrible investment.

I see you're hoping to have your Demonsteel Stirrups that are used, then the effect removed when taking a flight path, restored to you today, or to have your Demonsteel refunded to you.

The effect is currently intended to drop off if you take a flight path, enter a dungeon, or go to Dalaran (basically, if you leave the Broken Isles or take a flight path within), and we would not be able to restore the items at this time. Additionally, as much as I really would like to be able, we're not able to refund the Demonsteel that was used in crafting them.

I understand the frustration this brings, and do wish I could have done more to assist with it today. If you have any other issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to us as soon as you like. I hope you can have a good day.

This item is damn near worthless. I got sort of stuck in the mountains in Stormheim searching for a chest. Literally the only way out of the jam was to hearth out. I then noticed that the demonsteel stirrups that I JUST APPLIED not five minutes before were now missing.

That is why I came here looking for info. This buff needs to be fixed. It's an expensive item to make. The tooltip says it lasts eight hours for blacksmiths. Well, WHO IS GOING TO PLAY THIS GAME EIGHT HOURS STRAIGHT AND NOT DO AN INSTANCE, NOT GO TO DALARAN, etc in those eight hours? Come on blizz. This is stupid.

Just noticed the buff disappearing myself when I returned to Dalaran. Even though I can make them with an alt, it's still completely unacceptable. I plan to keep a careful watch and submit a bug report every time it ends early.

Tested when I had 15 minutes left:

1. Flight Master's Whistle: OK.
2. Any flight path within Broken Isles (but not Dalaran): OK.
3. Ride into Dreamgrove, (Druid Order Hall): OK
4. Teleport to Dreamgrove from anywhere: OK
5. Dreamgrove portal to Dalaran: OK
6. Hearth to Dalaran: OK.
7. Dalaran FP to Meredil: GONE (Shortly after crossing into The Great Sea area.)

So, if you're a druid, you can get to Dalaran without losing it by going through your class hall in either direction. When gathering, I just log off in the class hall after mailing the herbs and ore to another alt, then resume gathering via the Dreamgrove flight path when I return.

These work with underwater mounts like the Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder. Useful for underwater mining, if you can stay away from hostile mobs or players.

Even with the improvements to make the buff never fall off so you always get the full duration these just aren't worth it. They seem to allow you to interact with some quest objects but not all. They also do NOT allow you to stay mounted while mining.

Anyone else notice that while they have fixed the death bug, these seem to have another bug, if you have an unused set in your bags those will disapear from your bags when the duration of an active one expires? Same with Leystone Hoofplates. So for now I suggest not keeping any in your bags while you already have the buff active.

The BUFF from this item gets REMOVED if you enter an instance or do a BG.. meaning rip 2000gold.. amazing development work... sigh

Does the buff timer count down when offline ? I notice that where earlier I had 8 hours now after logging back in I only have 4.

This may have been hot-fixed for some issues of it coming off (hearthing, changing zones, etc); however, queueing and entering a BG will still remove it... patch 7.2.5.

As a developer, I don't understand why this is an issue.

Just used a damned flag to check zone and deactivate it... don't remove it entirely. Regardless of language used, it shouldn't take more than a few lines to check for this and make the appropriate changes.

EDIT: On a side note, these ARE worth it (IMHO). It allows you to hover over an object, use it, and stay out of combat (as long as you're not on the ground)... even if a mob is right beside you.

If you notice that you can't hover and mine but are forced to land, check your interface.
Interface-->Control --> make sure " Auto Dismount in Flight" is checked.
My husband and I were dumbfounded as to why I could mine from the air and he couldn't. This was the solution.

The BFA equivalent is Staffe Rinforzate di Monelite; which work on Kul Tiras and Zandalar, but not the warfront zones.

As of Patch 8.2, Demonsteel Stirrups are broken for Mining in the Broken Isles. Herbalism still works though, so this is not an interface issue.
