Not very useful anymore.

Not really useful back in Vanilla WoW either.

Will sell for a lot of gold on the AH to a collector of Alchemy recipes. Maybe 50 - 150g.

It's still in the game as of 4.3 - looted from a chest in Stratholme UD during a mount run.

It's value isn't in it's usefulness (it has none whatsoever really), but in the fact that Alchemists who want a complete portfolio of recipes will pay top dollar for it as it's rarity is off the scale. I've never seen it drop once in seven years of playing WoW on any character and I've never seen it in the AH.

I can confirm this item still drops in 5.1. I was in Blackrock Depths to smelt dark iron and I was lucky enough to have this drop for me.

The low drop rate along with the fact you have to run old content in hopes of it dropping make it a pain to get. Good luck to those looking to complete their alchemy collections.

This dropped for me today, in 5.2, off a Marshtide Footman in Swamp of Sorrwows. :) Sadly not on my main's realm!

Lulz I just dropped 2 from 1 twilight guy in Silithus. Why can't I have this luck when mountfarming :(

Not only is this recipe still available (and semi-valuable) in Warlords of Draenor, but I have found it three times from Nefarian since the expansion's release alone.

Nefarian is the best way to obtain extremely rare, high-level vanilla patterns. I have on his page the strategy I use to kill the first boss, because most people do not run the raid because of Alafurion l'Indomabile.

If raid spamming isn't your thing, then killing level 50-55 mobs in dungeons and out in the world is the range you can safely assume it can possibly drop from.
