The important thing about this weapon is its top end damage, notice the suprising slow weapon speed (4.0), even if it's a proc weapon it can be good for hunters who you utilize a hit and run approach with raptor strike

NO I say.

For a paladin, warrior or a shaman, this is an exellent weapon. Awesome speed, good proc (300 damage if you are lucky). For a long fight, this one could be for the win. Stats you can get from other items. :p

Dreadforge Retaliator is better imo, you trade 14 max damage for better stats (REALLY good ones) and faster swing speed doesnt hurt when the top end damage difference is that low.

Maybe this means they're going to change the "Skullflame Shield" name too. I'm on magtheridon US horde side and they spam that and chuck norris constantly. The record was about 36 hours of non-stop spam without stopping for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Drove some of us nuts.

Actually, this was named after the server Blackrock. People on Blackrock used to link this thing daily over and over and over in trade chat. Grats Blackrock on having a weapon named after it- maybe next they'll change Thunderfury.

really this weapon is not worth it. it has no stats and at 4.0 speed it is one of the slowest weapons in the game. the only thing that would draw anyone to it is the dmg and the look =p

This was one the most dangerous weapons in the game prior to 2H instants getting normalised at 3.30. I remember screenshots of the terrifying MS/WW combos a geared Warrior was capable of with this thing... fortunately nobody on my server had one!

Sigh... I remember when I was doing my Ony pre-q on my lvl 70 shaman, and picked this weapon up... The crits I was getting were Amazing!

This weapon model was shared by many outland green boe random enchantment axes before the graphic model overhaul early on after BC was released, however running around wit a razor blade for your axe was still rare and sick looking....oh and mongoose looks sick on it.

I got my account banned for "The Nicker" jokes. So, I'm glad they changed the name, although the Blackrock Slicer doesn't seem to do this item good enough. Should be something like "Razor of Death" or even "Blackrock Razor"

Honestly this was my favorite weapon, I picked it up a Level 52, Started using it at Level 53 and I couldn't find anything better up to level 63 when a Quest Green replaced it in The Outlands.

For those who are trying to get this weapon for transmofogroigrcation (bleh) or any other reason here is the method I use. It is especially time efficient if you are lower level and need to fight your way thru. As soon as you enter instance type /target Highlord Omokk
and you should be targeting boss Omokk. At the entrance position Omokk is almost out of range, meaning Rare mob that drops this weapon is actually out of range and you need to get closer. Walk past the first group of mobs up to the right where something like broken bridge is. Normally you would jump down and continue, but instead type
/target Spirestone Battle Lord
If he is spawned you will be able to target him, proceed and hope he drops the weapon. If not, exit, reset instance and repeat until you find him spawned.

EDIT: I just did a test and if you stand even on the far edge of that bridge-like platform, Battle Lord goes out of range for a brief moment. So to be 100% sure you might wanna jump down and walk few more yards towards it. Take a look at the screenshot for better understanding.

So after reseting the dungeon 34 times and having Spirestone Battle Lord up 4 of those times I finally received The Blackrock Slicer. Love the weapon looks really nice!
