I've spend the last 2 days hunting this quest item. And for less than 5 minutes ago it dropped.
- 14 hours
- 497 flower-nodes
- 3000+ flowers
and it drops.
It is insanely hard to get, since the flowers are alot less frequent than the other flower types. This is due to Highmountains terrain.
I know they have implemented the damn fox that showers you with additional flowers once in a while but it doesen't drop this item.
So please Blizzard make this drop rate a little better.
For those that seeks to gain those "thing" I would highly suggest the northern coast line.
There's a frequent respawn and there's a little less distance between the flowers than the rest of the zone.
Bring some kinda waterwalking bug with the new item that makes you able to gather flowers while mounted!

(PPS I just got this in 3rd node on my alt.. This is ridiculously random.. I've got guildies that can relate to both stories so I dunno anymore.)

Just "herbed" this quest reward. I was Herbalism 651 when I found it, so you don't need to have max Herbalism. Took me roughly 79 nodes to find the item. I stuck mainly to the northern coast of Highmountain for my Foxflower farming. As an Alliance member I would fly to Felbane Camp and run all the way around the tip of Highmountain over toward the Prepfoot flight path (you can't actually make it to Prepfoot, as the shore becomes cliffs as you approach from the West).

This was definitely the most time consuming Level 2 Herbalism item to find. The crappy terrain of Highmountain combined with the relatively sparse Foxflower spawns are a bad combo for farming efficiently.

Be prepared to have a full season of your favourite tv show ready to binge-watch on your 2nd monitor/TV while farming for this sh*t. It's easily the worst/rarest of all the rank 2 herb quests unless the RNGods shine on you.

I started at Shipwreck Cove and worked my way to Felbane Camp. I recommend that area since you don't have to worry about terrain and foxflower seems to spawn fairly decent along the coast. It took me about 20 minutes and I had max herbalism at the time.

This item is crazy. Even if you already have this item (got mine from +-150th Foxflover) you need to be so lucky to complete it. First though of many farmers will be probably - no problem, i already saw rare fox spawn many times, i just use my some-sort-of-server-jump-addon, well ...no. This is not tagged as raid quest, so number of realms will be reduced dramaticaly, because you will be looking for "party" only. And at least 2/3 of these parties, will turn into raid right away, just because more people joined. I got mine fox just from 5th Foxflover which took about 15 minutes of server hopping! GL everyone, may the RNG be with you, you will need it.

I planted some Foxflower Seeds in the dirt piles by Ironhorn Enclave and when I looted one of the Foxflower nodes that grew this item dropped.

Not sure how many herbs I've actually picked but this session alone I'm at 5234 foxflowers in my bags and 4 hours of farm time. No rank 2 yet. Did the drop rate go down or am I just incredibly unlucky?

Just to prove how random it is, I read all the comments here, prepared myself for a multi-day grind, and got it on my first pick.

I'm sure it'll take me two weeks to get rank three now, but it literally has no rhyme or reason.

I will say this - I just completed the quest where you run to Un'goro, the Basin, and Gorgond. I doubt it's a gate, but just in case I thought I would mention it.

Looted as of january 3rd 2021!
Finally dropped after flying around the coast of Highmountain from east to west twice. Gathered 155 Foxflowers along the way. I guess it took around half an hour.

Just got this to drop in 9.2.5. Still an awful drop rate--probably farmed about 1k foxflower before I finally got it to drop. Just put on a tv show and use gathermate or a similar addon to make it a little easier.

I had 899 Foxflower, not counting the two I got from the node, in my bag when this finally dropped around Sylvan Falls (approximately 30.95, 60.53). While I wasn't keeping track of exact time: I'd been searching for at least four days and chasing that dizzy fox every time it spawned. (The node in question did not spawn a fox.)
