I'm conflicted about this. I like the recolor over the challenge mode mount but at the same time it makes the challenge mode mount less cool because it's not super unique anymore. I mean with the artifact weapons coming in Legion it already makes the CM weapons less likely to be used. Oh well though, neat mount at least.

I think it's safe to say this is a reference to the Krampus. (Definitely not the Grinch because we've had the Greench in WoW for years. If it were called "Minion of the Greench" then it would be a Grinch reference.)

Why Krampus, though? Because the Krampus movie is coming out this December, of course. What's so special about the Krampus movie? Legendary Pictures is producing it. Why does that matter? Oh yeah, Legendary is making the upcoming Warcraft movie. ;)

I'm hoping this is a new vendor mount, which would make sense since it's not BoP. It may actually simply "drop" off of Grumpus, who is a new quest NPC Elite in Frostfire Ridge that you have to kill. Hopefully he isn't going to be like the Garn Nighthowl boss, which requires a group of around 30-40 people and only drops one, and on group loot...

With Winter's Veil dropping on Wednesday, the Minion of Grumpus mount will come with it. It appears to be from a garrison daily quest Grumpus, which is a mini boss in frostfire ridge.

It is speculated to be a low drop chance from killing the mini boss.

It also seems to not be a BoP, meaning it will probably be seen in trade of the Auction House.

I like this, I'm tired of the 0.5% holiday drop rate mounts.

This lovely mount has a chance to drop from Dono Selvaggio which is sold by Izzy Frizzafeste in your Garrison. Dono Selvaggio can be obtained as early as your first set of Winter Veil dailies in your Garrison, with the gift costing 5x Forniture Natalizie.

Rumor has it that the refund "bug" of the savage gift has been revoked, makeing it non-refundable which means you can no longer open it, take a peak and then sell it again untill you loot the mount. If this is true I can only say about good, it's not ment to be easy to get, it's a rare holiday mount and makeing it accesible for everyone smart enough to exploit it is a dumb idea.

For all those having trouble with the gift quest I would recommend doing it in a group of 5, much easier. Also.. the mount only drops from the savage gift that you buy from the vendor with 5 holiday supplies, so you can only buy one per day per character. I received my mount on my 3rd character, so I dont know if I just got lucky or what:) Will continue to do them everyday and hope for a second to make some gold. Happy farming!

Got this on my 3rd alt today.

Does anyone think they will re-release this mount next Christmas event or will this be a Warlords only thing because of the unique Yeti skin and Savage Box name in particular?

If they don't release the mount again I'm holding onto it to sell later in Legion.

P.S I spent over 100 hours grinding Infinite Timewaster mount - except my luck was with the Christmas event the whole time zzzzzz.

Christmas came early this year for me! I happen to get the infinite timereaver on the Dec 14th ( just this Monday ) and then Minion of Grumpus POPPED right outta my 3rd present (multi alts) ! Two amazing mounts I had been waiting all year for a chance to farm them! I couldn't be more grateful and I really wish everyone the best of luck! Merry Christmas!

Got mine today on my second toon to do the dailies! Must not be THAT rare though. There are so many up on the auction house that the prices are plummeting from competition. was 500k this morning, down to 150k atm. Tomorrow will prolly be even cheaper. So if it doesn't drop for you you can just buy it cheap eventually :) gl all!

Well, I'm at 39 total boxes open so far. That's counting my brother, who's now helping me get this mount, since he got it on his first try (he's insanely lucky with mounts *-*). He has 11 max level characters, and I have 9... We're both doing the dailies each day on all our toons, and boy, am I lucky to have a brother like him. Im gonna have to get him something extra real nice this Christmas :D

Does anyone know if this can be mailed to the opposing faction? I don't think it can be but wanted to check if anyone has tried to and could confirm a yes or no.

I've already learned it for myself but getting one for my guild's Christmas gift give-a-way would be awesome! I could really use the medallions on the opposite faction however, which I know can not be mailed across faction.

Edit: Not sure why this question was down-voted. I clearly stated I was checking if someone else had already tried it and it still feels like a valid question that someone else may be interested in finding the answer as well. Either the % drop on this is much better than some other holiday items, or the RNG just loved me. Dropped on 20th box i opened. Note, oddly enough I opened about 15 or so one one toon. and 5 boxes one each on some others. It was one of the toons that ONLY opened one box that got it. Not that i think it matters. Just thought i would throw that info out there.

It's worth noting that this mount isn't bind on pickup, so once you get one for yourself, it might be worth the time to farm a few more to sell or give to friends at a later date.

Lots of people are complaining that they are not getting the Minion of Grumpus from their daily quest in Iron Forge. I have had to explain to lots of people that the Savage Gift box is where that mount comes from and has to be bought at a Garrison Holiday vender named Izzy Hollyfizzle<Events Coordinator>.

This mount currently is sitting at a 1% drop rate. For those of you who are not good at math, that means, on average, 1 should show up out of 100 boxes you open.

Feast of Winter Veil will go on for 17 days. So, here are the statistical chances you'll have to get this mount, based on number of alts you are using to try and get it.

1 alt - 17% chance of getting the mount.
2 alts - 34% chance of getting the mount.
3 alts - 51% chance of getting the mount
4 alts - 68% chance of getting the mount
5 alts - 85% chance of getting the mount
6+ alts - should statistically guarantee the mount, unless the RNG gods are frowning upon you.

Now, this is pure statistics, without taking into account RNG unequal possibilities, etc. Each alt must do the quests and open a box each and every day. All things considered, lump all players together, and the above chances are correct.

For those on PVP servers where the entire area is overtaken by the other faction dominating any of you attempting to finish the quests, make sure you are using the group finder, there are lots of groups every day looking for people to finish the quests with.

Dropped the first time I purchased the savage package. I came here to see how rare it was. This means I'll probably not be seeing the other mounts I've been farming in instances this last few months since returning to wow.

Might add that this is mount is shorter than the coalfist gronnling mount. That was a bit of a disappointment. Since these grumpus minions are all grey they aren't really anything that special to look at either.

It seems quite some people are ignorant concerning basic statistics and even upvote people who think that 150 tries is equivalent to 150% chance of getting the mount. This needs a touch of clarity! (assuming 1% drop rate)

17 attempts (1 character):

15.7% chance of getting at least one mount

14.5% chance of getting exactly one mount

51 attempts (3 characters):

40.1% chance of getting at least one mount

30.9% chance of getting exactly one mount

100 attempts

63.4% attempts of getting at least one mount

37.0% chance of getting exactly one mount

1000 attempts

99.996% chance of getting at least one mount

0.044% chance of getting exactly one mount

Notice the difference between at least and exactly as well, as you can see on the 1000 attempts, the chance of getting one mount is low... why? Well, that's since there's about 10% chance of getting 9, 10 or 11 etc. mounts, which sum up. However, you can never be 100% sure to get at least one (the one you need..) mount.

Do yourself a favor and just buy it now, if you still get it in a few days wonderful... this mount will go for upwards of 100k after this event is over again (Where as now it's somewhere around 30-40k on many servers)... it will be a year before you can obtain it again after all, don't be that idiot putting it for 25k into the AH, it's worth more.

Currently at 143 dailies (11 characters each running them every day except the first, glorious, able to actually get the mount day which I missed) and I'm starting to think I'll never get it. If you have not already, I recommend saving one or two of these mounts for quite some time. As Legion will be released next year, it is most likely that this mount will be no longer available to receive from the Christmas event as this mount is solely related to a Draenor legend.

Anybody have a rough idea of what prices will be like for this on AH after the event? After doing the dailies every single day on 2 characters, I didn't get a single one, and so will buy one on the AH. At the moment, the lowest price is 50k. I assume the price is likely to skyrocket after the event ends. Should I just grab one now or wait to see what the price changes to?

Anyone had one drop after the event has finished? - I have loads of the currency unused and planned to buy the gift boxes with them now (3/1/16). If anyone has noticed a noticeable change in the contents table I'd appreciate the feedback. I bought one earlier which contained the xp elixir so I'm hoping its still the same possible contents as during the festival.

When the event started it had about a 1% drop rate, now the event has ended and it has a 3% drop rate.

I did the dailies on 4 toons for most of the days, and got the mount twice. Saw my buddies never get it, so I gifted one of them the mount.

Some info to people who didn't farm for this mount last year.

1) You need your own level 3 garrison in order to get the 4 quests that reward the daily 5 Merry Supplies. Use these 5 Merry Supplies to buy a Savage Gift and cross your fingers.

(I tried creating a demon hunter and visiting someone else's level 3 garrison and the quest giver did not offer me any quests.)

2) You cannot get these quests from a class trial so don't bother wasting your time with that

3) You can mail the Merry Supplies to whatever character you want as they are BOA but you can't mail the Savage Gift once you buy it

(Not sure if the oil/apexis/garrison resources really matter anymore in Legion so I've just been opening them on the alt I do the dailies on)

4) The dailies are a PITA especially if you're on a PVP server. The quest area is very small and CRZ makes the area very very busy

(I counted 40+ players in the area mixed between alliance and horde)

Good luck to all and remember if you don't get the mount, the AH will likely be littered with them. Just give it a couple weeks and I'm sure the undercutters will have the mount below 10k gold like how Garn Nighthowl is.

This post is primarily for those of you that missed Feast of Winter Veil 2015:

There was a bug in Dono Selvaggio at the start for 2015, people were able to get way more of these then they should have. Initially, prices were skewed due to the bug in Dono Selvaggio.

On January 3, 2016:

Mounts For Sale = 2,646
Average price = 69k

On December 15, 2016:

Mounts For Sale = 413 (Over 2,000 of these sold over the year)
Average price = 90k

Now, after one week of farming on US Realms... there are between 700 and 900 available for an average of 65k to 75k. This equates to approximately 1,200 mounts being available to purchase after Winter Veil 2016 ends. Way less than what sold over the previous year. So, expect prices to go up.

If you don't get one to drop this year, you might have to fork over gold by the last day of the festival. They are just going to hold their value, or get more expensive the longer you wait.

I know 24% of accounts have it already... but for those that don't... supply is only going to get tighter.

This is how you farm Dono Selvaggio and Regalo Rubato efficiently on multiple toons. Characters must be level 100 or higher and have a level 3 garrison.

Park all of your eligible toons in their garrisons.

Make sure you're hearthed in either Ironforge if you're Alliance and Orgrimmar if you're Horde or in your faction's Shrine in Pandaria.

Start each day by picking up the 4 Winter Veil dailies in your garrison

from Pizzle if you are Horde or Almie if you are Alliance

It's about a 5 minute flight to Brontolus (Frostfire Ridge 45, 28) from the Alliance garrison. If it's your first time there make sure and pick up the Bloodmaul Slag Mines flight path at 51, 21 to make the later runs a bit less monotonous. For Horde it takes about a minute to fly there from your garrison.

Complete the 4 dailies.

It will usually take about 5 minutes to do all 4 quests, depending on the player traffic. *NOTE* - As of 5am maintenance on 12/19/2017 everything here scales with you so no one shotting the mobs any more, and the trash that dropped from them seems to either not drop for 110's or the rate is so low it doesn't even register.

Use your Pietra del Ritorno di Dalaran . Take the Dalaran Crater portal (make sure you're prepared against the fall with Kit dell'Aliante dei Goblin or any toy/buff/spell/etc that slows falling or negates damage).

Fly to Growless Cave (Hillsbrad Foothills 44, 39).

Pick up Che cattivone... or Che cattivone... from Strano Pupazzo di Neve

You don't need to even tag the Greench just hang around until he's dead then talk to Metzen la Renna and grab a Dolce Rubato

Use your Pietra del Ritorno to return to either Org/ IF or your Shrine then portal to Org/ IF. Turn in Che cattivone... or Che cattivone... for a Regalo Rubato

Use your Pietra del Ritorno alla Guarnigione Turn in the 4 Winter Veil dailies to
Izzy Frizzafeste for 5 Forniture Natalizie which will buy you a Dono Selvaggio from this same NPC.

Rinse and repeat on your alts. Takes under 15 minutes each if you don't have ADHD like me.

Opened 52 Savage Gifts during the 2017 event w/ no luck. Opened 20 during the 2018 event and Minion of Grumpus finally dropped. Total = 72.

Okay i have this one stupid question do i need a lvl 3 garrison for the mount to drop? I mean i started on a new server and i wanbted some cash there so i send the currenct to an alt for 30 bags and evrything dropped other than medallion and mount do i have to have a lvl 3 garrison for it to drop or i just got bad rngd?

Soooo... the holiday is starting this weekend, I got lucky with horseman's mount this year. Does this drop in only purple caches like the Horseman's mount or does it drop from boss or is it a quest chain or... what?

I've been farming this on atleast 5 toons for the last few years, and FINALLY got mine today (12/27/20). They've been going for about 120k gold in AH on my server (Dalaran) so might be worth continuing to farm for the next week. Anyone else finally get their Minion this year?

Is it me or the drop rate has been reduced this year? I mean, I farm the mount annually on several characters and usually get about four per event. This time, I only got one and don't really expect more since we only have a few days left. I know this is anecdotal, but I also see just a handful of them on AH going for 199k while they used to be priced at below 100k.

I started farming this mount this year with only 4 Garrisons. Since Forniture Natalizie are Blizzard account bound, I decided to send all of them to only one character in order to stack all the attempts with it. After some days into the event I realized that maybe 4 Garrisons (4 attempts per day) would not be evough so I searched a guide and leveled 5 more Garrison to level 3, making a total of 9 attempts per day.

Yesterday, I finally received the mount after 66 attempts on my Horde toon: https://i.imgur.com/EoFUM9q.jpg

Today I started to farm the mount on my alliance toon in order to sell it at the AH, I received the mount again in the 6th box, I am planning to keep farming it so maybe I can make a little bit more of gold, I want to buy my Corazza da Guerra Forgialuce

REQUIREMENTS:

Level 3 Garrison. Dailies to get Forniture Natalizie are only available in YOUR level 3 Garrison, if you go to a friends lvl 3 Garrison you will find no daily quests.

i opened 164 boxes split across 3 level 50 characters.

toon 1 opened 64, and got 7 medallions and 7 frozen arms
toon 2 opened 60 and got 8 medallions and 1 frozen arms
toon 3 opened 40 and got 10 medallions and 4 frozen arms

anyone loot it on level 50?

Did the dailies with multiple alts for many days and got it in the estimated 40th box.

I got my mount on a level 61 char, so at least there are no level 70 requirements for getting the drop.

Did they lower the chances? last few years ive gotten at least 1 a day (17 chars a day).. im on day 7 of 17 chars a day and have seen 0.. Very odd

To raise your chances do make garrisson's for your alts before the winter veil starts. It takes only a few hours of getting through the intro quests, flying around & killing elites to gather enough garrison resources to raise it to lvl 3. For me that was 1-2 days work total. Few days into the winter veil I decided to make another garrison for my alt just in case & the mount dropped for THAT character on the very last day of the event! I did skip some days over Christmas due to not being home, but glad I didn't miss the last one. So do make use of every day of the event. Dunno if they amped up the drop rate since this was my first year farming, but still at ~3% = least three times more likely than the Headless Horseman's Reins ;)

To quickly get enough Risorse per la Guarnigione to upgrade the garrison to level 3, Cassa degli Ogre Smisurata gives 1000 resources and can be bought on the AH.

Been away from the game for several years.
First quest run I got the Crashin' Thrashin' controller.
Second quest run I got a Savage Gift: Minion of Grumpus.
DONE for the year...phew. :D
Unless there are some battle pets to be had like with the Halloween decorations.
