the curently reason this spear were removed were that blizzard couldnt figure out how to increase the critical strike rating for the whole party. there were some systemcrashing when done, thats why it is removed from game world. a pitty

Yes it was removed from game a while back. it was tested on a PTR. Darkspear has since been replaced with a epic version named Blackfury.

The item leading to the quest that awards these plans is Badly Broken Dark Spear which drops from mobs (Ravasaur Runner, in my experience) in Un'goro Crater.

Can confirm that Puntascura is back in game....just picked up the questline from Devasauro Scattante in Un Goro crater, completed the quest, and got the recipe. Had all the materials sitting in my gbank ready to go. Perfect for my level capped legacy raid team ;)

I have item=12802 Darkspear on my alt. all you need to do is go to un'goro crater and kill adds till an item drops named the broken darkspear. then you talk to a troll and he tells you that is the spear of vol'jin and then he keeps talking and ends up boring the #$%^ out of you and then ^&*!in bam you get the plans 5 seconds
