Pietra Alchemica Infernale is the latest version of the Alchemist stone trinkets. As an item level 815 Trinket, this one sports 890 Versatility, with a more powerful version of the primary stat proc (4747 Strength, Agility or Intellect for 15 seconds) and the same passive effect (+40% effect to healing and mana potions) as previous iterations.

Note that this is one of the crafted items that can be upgraded with Obliterum, to a maximum item level of 850.

Also similar to all previous versions, this trinket doubles as a Pietra Filosofale. You require one in your bags in order to perform most transmutations.

This version is Bind-on-Pickup, and are thus limited to Alchemists only.

In Warlords of Draenor, the alchemist stone had 6 stages, each progressively a higher item level. These are listed below:

Stage 1: Pietra del Vento (Item Level 640). BoP.
Stage 2: Pietra della Terra (Item Level 655). BoP.
Stage 3: Pietra dell'Acqua (Item Level 670). BoP.
Stage 4: Pietra del Fuoco (Item Level 685). BoE.
Stage 5: Pietra Selvaggia (Item Level 700). BoE.
Stage 6: Pietra Elementale (Item Level 715). BoE.

The WoD versions listed above remained relevant in particular due to the fact that they were useable by non-Alchemists (Stages 4-6), and because they were a boon in Challenge Modes. In Legion, Mythic+ dungeons (the "new" Challenge modes) involve no downscaling of gear, but rather upscale the difficulty of dungeons progressively.

As a result, this trinket will be relevant and quite useful early in the expansion, but later on will be less desirable, and barring significant upgrade possibilities, will be outpaced by many raid trinkets.

Update: many trinkets replace this one (sometimes exactly for stats and icd) around iLvl 850 (880 for most all others). So while a good pre mythic Emerald Nightmare trinket it becomes deeply outclassed once you've obtained those trinkets. Aditionally the Chrono Shard trinkets outclass it (when you have both) immediately. Still an incredible burst trinket while leveling up though. The potion boon starts to pale in usefulness also at about 850 ilvl stats.

Incredibly powerful thoroughput trinket, especially when your other options are just stat sticks. Buff is consistent enough to always be up for popping cooldowns, and very high uptime during sub 35% boss hp leading to incredibly power jacking during burn phases and making the most of long powerful or set up cooldowns (this adds many hundreds of thousands of damage or healing to say: Full Moon, for balance druids, Tranquility for Restodruids, Ebon Bolt and Glacial spike/comet storm/ice nova). As it currently stands this is strongest for specs with a very high scaling burst cooldown/buff (arcane power, pillar of ice, etc) that gives you %damage/healing boost of 20% or greater. Frost DK, Balance Druid, Resto Druid, Elemental Shaman, Subtlety Rogue, Havoc DH, All Mages, Destro Walrock, Holy Priest, Disc Priest(lesser extenent but so strong when dealing damage AND healing simultaniously, so only situationally good), WW Monk, and Marksmanship hunter (with piercing shot). Less useful for other specs due to lacking 900%+ scaling abilities or strong enough %self buffs.

For world questing and solo play this is too notch, and strong power boost for soloing old raids.

So Rank 3 allows you to create an additional Alchemist Stone. I guess if the trinket remains BOP for the foreseeable future, then the only good use for additional trinkets is to turn them into Obliterum?

This trinket is BOE. This was changed from beta.

EDIT: This obliterates into roughly 150 - 170 Obliterum Ash.

Anyone else notice that their name isn't on the stone they create? It isn't on mine that is upgraded to 7/7. I didn't check when I initially created it.

Hopefully it is just an oversight they'll fix.

After making and obliterating 102 of these guys I averaged 141 ash per obliterate.

This trinket procs on pretty much anything related to your character. I've had it proc while gathering herbs or even on others joining my party, so don't worry if you suddenly proc and you think you are in combat.

What do you guys think is better for general gameplay (Mythics and Raiding) I don't use potions often, despite needing to (usually only use them in raids when given to me, mana potions that is)

Anyway Amalgams Seventh Spine or this? I know the Spine has a much higher ilvl but... I just think this may be better... I have a few other trinkets that I potentially want to know what to use and I have been using Pawn/Mr. Robot to pick waht to use, they used to pick this Stone but they don't anymore. From what I have heard Pawn doesn't take in account that much when it comes to trinkets so I appeak to you, my fellow WoWHeaders :)

Obliterating Pietra Alchemica Infernale
Ingredients:
1x Zolfo Infernale = 200 gold
5x Vilpianta = 1,500 gold
3x Sangue di Sargeras = Unbuyable, est. 450 gold in value

Makes about 140x Cenere di Obliterum each.
Est. Gold Value per Obliterum: 1,536 gold

Advantages: Clicking muscles will be happy! Relatively cheap if you have the Bloods.
Disadvantages: Must gather Sangue di Sargeras on your own, must rely on other player (or sufficiently leveled miner of your own) to obtain Zolfo Infernale.

As compared to...

Obliterating Pozione del Potere Prolungato
Ingredients:
1x Sangue di Sargeras = Unbuyable, est. cost 150 gold
10x Ampolla di Cristallo = negligible
(This produces 10 potions each.)

Makes about 1.5x Cenere di Obliterum each.
Estimated Gold Value per Obliterum = 1,125 gold

Advantages: You probably have a ton of Bloods lying around, making this cost less than 2 gold (the cost of the vials) for each Obliterum!
Disadvantages: clicking muscles will cry, lots of time invested into gathering if you don't have the Bloods already

Obliterating Pozione di Cura Antica
Ingredients:
4x Seme di Yseralide = 40 gold
1x Ampolla di Cristallo = negligible

Makes about 1.5x Cenere di Obliterum each.
Est. Gold Value per Obliterum = 3,000 gold

Advantages: Yseralline Seeds are cheap as well as easy to harvest. You get them on most Broken Isles herb nodes. This recipe at Rank 3 also has a chance to proc and create more potions, potentially lessening your total cost. Cheapest method without relying on gathering your own resources.
Disadvantages: clicking muscles will cry

Oblierating Pozione di Mana Antica
Ingredients:
5x Seme di Yseralide = 50 gold

Makes about 1.5x Cenere di Obliterum each.

Makes about 4x Cenere di Obliterum each.
Est. Gold Value per Obliterum: 17,000 gold

Disadvantages: Simply not cost effective! Clicking muscles crying only slightly less than with the potions.

Obliterating Tonico degli Eserciti Innumerevoli or Tonico delle Mille Cicatrici
Ingredients:
7x Rosa Lucestellare = 280 gold
10x Aethril = 150 gold
10x other herb = 200 gold
1x Ampolla di Cristallo = negligible

Makes about 4x Cenere di Obliterum each.
Est. Gold Value per Obliterum: 15,750 gold

Advantages: Aethril is slightly cheaper currently than other herbs, so these flasks cost less to make than the other kinds.
Disadvantages: Simply not cost effective! Clicking muscles crying only slightly less than with the potions.

Obliterating Calderone dello Spirito
Don't do it. Just don't. You only get 4-9 Cenere di Obliterum each. Even your clicking muscles won't be happy with you.

So I went to Patricia Egan and she has the recipe but it requires "Demonsbreath Crucible" to buy it. Anyone know how the hell I get my hands on one of these Demonsbreath Crucibles?

I've been collecting "BIS" for Chromie time content. I equipped both Pietra Alchemica Infernale and Pietra Alchemica Astrale. I've been smacking away at a training dummy for a long time and while both do proc, they are never -both- active simultaneously. It's always one buff or the other.

I am also baffled and cannot find any answer why the older (Infernal) trink has better stats than the newer Astral. I am considering foregoing upgrading the Astral because it costs a tremendous amount of resources to upgrade to full, and I am currently not convinced that it'll be an upgrade at all.
