- the tokens are coming in patch 6.1.2
- they will be available for purchase for real money through the in-game shop system

- there will be no need for an active subscription in order to buy them
- you will be able to sell them for gold only through a dedicated tab in the Auction House
- the initial gold price will be set by Blizzard and then adjusted based on supply and demand
- upon a successful sale, you'll receive exactly as much gold as you were promised when creating the auction
- all tokens in a game region will be priced the same at any given moment
- there will be no bidding involved in the auctions
- each WoW Token can only be sold once
- tokens do not expire and cannot be deleted

Blizzard will set the price of the amount of gold required to buy a token, NOT the seller. Blizzard will also be the one who decides what is the proper cost of gold in game for the token region wide and Blizzard will be solely responsible for raising and lower the price periodically, region by region. The seller will buy the token at a fixed cost in dollars and sell the token in game for a fixed cost of gold. No bartering and each token will be the same cost in gold. The token is also Bind on Pickup so cannot be resold. A very boring Auction House item! 2,000 tokens for the exact same price. People will choose who to buy it from just from your character's name or you pleading on the trade channel. Perhaps people will do kickbacks to the buyer like giving them some of the gold back to them, a discount if you would. Perhaps it will be strictly FIFO- First in, first out and folks must buy the top line item. Or alphabetical, so Aardvark will sell his token first. Maybe there will be no names at all and a random order of which buyer is at the top of the list (my personal preference). Also, it would be nice if the token did not sell in 3 months or so fro Blizz to give a refund to the person and remove the token.

Currently, the WoW Token was announced to be released and openly available on April 7, 2015. They'll be approximately $20 USD/$25 AUD, and cost about 30,000 gold coins on the Auction House (At the time of this post).

Tokens can not be placed in your bank, BUT you can swap a bag from your bank with one of your regular bags then place the token where you want and swap the bag with the token into the bank.
Update: Doing this then logging off will place the tokens back in your inventory, or if your inventory is full place them in a limbo inventory bag until they find one to fill.

This Gettone WoW is different from that Gettone WoW.
You cannot resell a token you have purchased on the AH.
You can only sell one that you bought with real money.
I imagine Blizz is doing this to avoid people "flipping" tokens.

"Binds when picked up" means "Binds when picked up".
Theres no special exception for this item, even though the other one is BoP.

What happens if you have these tokens on a character above level 20 and your game time expires? Would you need to pay for a month in order to access these in-game?

If you can play characters lower than level 20 on a frozen account, then that would be another excuse to purchase these on a low-level alt.

This is the only Soulbound item in the game that you can post on the Auction House. The Auction House also does not take a cut of your sales on this item.

If you are a past subscriber and wanting to resubscribe, you can with a token, well technically with gold. Your account will have reverted back to an "starter account." Which means if you have any characters at or under 20 you can log in to them and play, although you have the starter account limitations.

When you get to the character selection screen, just click on one of your characters and you will be prompted to pay current gold market price for 30 days game time. If your character is under 20 just click the reactivate button and you will be prompted as well. I was able to buy game time with my level 3.

Obviously you will already need to have that amount in your account, but this makes it quick and easy to "re sub" without having to buy game time with IRL monies, just use the gold you have and good luck.

It seems you can only have 10 of these on your account at any given time. Not sure if this is the 10 per month limit, will see in 20 days. It won't let me buy more than 10 however, I know it says 10 somewhere but I assumed that meant people BUYING them with real money, ie no more than 10 per month. Would be nice if someone could clarify this. I have no intention of using my tokens yet, since I'm taking a break for 1-2 months and not going to waste a few tokens.

<edit> I might clarify that I meant buying them from the auction house, in case that was not clear. I have 10 of these unused on my character that I bought from the auction house. I am no longer able to buy more for the time being. It's not 10 on the same character, one character has 6 and a level 20 character has 4. I really don't want to use a token up since I'll be taking a break the coming month, but would be nice if someone with experience could answer the question, please.

Gonna answer an important question that I had up until a few minutes ago and doesn't seem to be answered anywhere else: if your game time lapses and a character you currently have no access to has a WoW Token in their bags, you WILL be given the option to use it from the character select screen.

Never have to worry about sending money to a 20-or-lower character and having them buy one beforehand.

While the US version keeps dropping in gold value, the EU one keeps getting more expensive.
Blizzard should lower Euro cost to buy the token to increase supply in-game.

There seems to be little pricing information here. I have seen them range from 18k/ea to 27k/ea, though if someone sees them hit a new high or low, please post for those wondering if it will be worth converting one's cash into gold.

Anyone who has been using the wow token to get back into the game in April has noticed the price stabilize over the past week here in mid May last week. There used to be up to a 27k/18k spread, or at least 24k/20k spread. Now the spread is suddenly 2k since the past week, even in the middle of the week when the spread was highest. Maybe I was the only one in all of wow considering buying the token, selling high, buying low, keeping the 5-9k profit, and considering that worth the extra $5. I could get closer to 36k over time with the same $20. Additionally I was enjoying watching the https://wowtoken.info/ market to decide when to buy and sell. I'm not sure if Blizzard changed some algorithm, but worldwide the prices have stabilized, and anyone who plays the ah knows price volatility makes money. Now I'm prob just going to pay the $15. Unless I'm the only one, wow could benefit from having the token remain volatile somehow, with others also buying the token for the market game aspect of it, instead of just the $15. I know there wasn't always a token available for purchase when the price was 19k, but that was part of the risk vs reward. I want to know if Blizzard stabilized the prices, or if there are just so many people using the token now the lack of spread is natural and with us until the end of world (of warcraft).

I just got a response from a GM and you can *only* have 1000~ days of playtime on your account. Once you reach this limit you are NOT allowed to buy any more wow tokens from the auction house(it'll give you an too many error). I just thought this was very odd since this stops you from buying a token that someone spent $20 to buy. I assume more and more players will reach this cap eventually and it should be interesting to see how that affects prices. It probably won't since it's so far down the road.

The previous ticket mentioned the cap of 10 tokens per week rolling, which would have reset on the 13th. However, it did not account for the amount of tokens you've activated as game time on your account.
I checked up on this and you've activated 34 tokens, and have 1013 days of game time remaining (expiring March 24, 2018). At this stage it will not be possible for you to purchase more tokens until you have a little bit less time left. We don't have any exact numbers for how many days of time you can have activated through tokens. My guess is they set it to 1,000 days, not expecting it would be much of an issue and that only a few players would reach that amount of days.

For now, what I'd suggest is you wait a bit, perhaps two weeks until you're below 1,000 days left and then see if you can add another token (if you still feel you need it).

WoW Tokens that add gametime do not stack. And they cannot be put into your bank. For long-time storage (it may be advisable to spend gold now instead of possibly facing inflated prices later) consider using a dedicated character.

For those of you who are bewildered at not being able to purchase/see a WoW Token for sale on the store; It is because your country of residence is different from your Registered account/server.

For example, My account is on the EU servers, but my current country of residence is in New Zealand.

This stops me from buying a Token off the store for real money, as my "currency" is different than what should be used on the EU store. Setting my country of residence back to Norway would fix this.

to restate/rephrase that; my account has been in trial mode for some time, my higher level characters actually have enough gold to buy a Gettone WoW, and at the character selection screen it asks if I want to spend gold on those characters to get wow-time.

I believe it's based on your total gold per server(also meaning that the total gold quantity is shared between characters). So I can buy a Gettone WoW on my home server, but I cannot buy a Gettone WoW on an alt server with only a handful of max-level characters.

Please do correct me if I've overlooked something, but hopefully these details will be useful for someone approaching the end of their game time!

FYI if you buy a token and do not retrieve it in 30 days, it will resend rather than expire according to one GM. I did this on a on a "pure starter edition" not a merged or a veteran account.

Despite the recent stacking and storage improvements. If you're still short on bagspace on that character you bought it on, you can safely keep the token in your mailbox.

I have not tested with multiple tokens and whether or not your account will recognize that you have a token in your mailbox. So this is more aimed for people who purchase multiple, I would recommend keeping one in your bag just in case the character selection still prompts you to buy one with gold instead.

I'm GameMaster Cayzard and I'm here to take a look into this problem you're having with your WoW Token purchase. First and foremost though I'd like to apologize for the trouble this has caused you. I also find it aggravating when things do not work they way they should. So I can feel the frustration seething through on something like this.

You don't have to worry about the mail expiring here. WoW Tokens are set to resend themselves after 30 days so that they never expire. You shouldn't have been able to buy one and you shouldn't even be able to carry this much gold on a Starter account. We don't have a way to help you until the account is upgraded to a full license as we can't reverse an Auction House purchase and even if we could we can't give you more Gold as you're way over the cap of what a Starter account can have.

You can use the offer that pops up when you first log into the starter account to upgrade it for $9.99 and that gives you 30 days of game time. You could then get your Token and claim it for another 30 days. Once you've upgraded this though we can help make sure you get the Token if for any reason it's not in the mailbox still.

I have two wow accounts on my BNET account and hit the 36 token in 2 years purchase limit back in July 2015. My tokens finally ran out a couple months ago and I had to pay money to renew my accounts. Every once in a while I try to purchase another token for giggles, and it just gives me the "You have too many of this item" error (even though I don't have any in my account at all).

My hope has been that with allowing the exchange of wow tokens for BNET balance that the limits would be loosened or removed. I tried to purchase a token when 7.1.5 was released on Tuesday, and it still didn't work.

Today, however, only 18 months after I maxed out my 36 token purchase limit (and still less than two years from the introduction of the token), it let me buy two more tokens. I haven't purchased any more than the two, but it isn't giving me an error. It looks like there are some unpublished changes to the token rules.

Miscellaneous - If a WoW Token is left in the mail for more than 30 days, it will become hidden to the player for 2 weeks before it appears back in their bags.

Okay. As of 6th of February(EU), this video from Blizzard revealed that WoWToken can now be used for redeeming either 30 days of game-time OR 15$ Battle.Net Credit. I'm gonna talk from a personal perspective here, this may not apply to you, because of that, please don't be rude.

Currently, I have no idea about EU servers, since our currency in Battle.Net -usually- is Euro. And I'm a firm believer that this will open a huuuuuge can of worms.

I, personally, live in Turkey, we use Turkish Lira as currency. Since our government owes ~~sh*t~~ ton of money to other countries, our currency rate system is totally f*cked up. For example, 1 US Dollar is around 3.68 Turkish Liras and 1 Euro is 3.95 Turkish Liras. Because of these two currency rates, and I'm a university student which means I almost never have enough money to buy me some food, I cannot afford buying gametime via using real money. And in fact, I had to stop playing for a couple of months and save up some money so I can actually buy a month of gametime to play.

When they first introduced this WoWToken, I was thrilled that I would be able to play WoW no matter what. I'm a gatherer and crafter, so I made enough golds to buy a couple of months of worth gametime and my real money left in my pocket safely.

This, whole Battle.net credit thing, will be a total hiccup, because of the whole unbalanced token price. Currently, US players are able to buy tokens for 63k or something like that while EU players almost pay double the amount, 116k. This is totally unfair and I know some of you will say "Ooohh, there's a thing in economy where high demand + low supply = high price and the opposite", but no. There has to be made some equality to make this system work much better. I hated the first time I learned that I was paying double the amount what a US player pays and this makes me even more hateful that I'll be paying double the amount what a US player pays to acquire some sweet Battle.net credit and all the thing s/he wants in-game or on all Blizzard games.

Edit 1: Wow, got really hateful feedback because of my PERSONAL perspective. Remind me next time that I should not share my thoughts.

With the recent announcement of Destiny 2 coming to the Blizzard App and Battle.net interface AND being available to purchase with Battle.net account balance, the price of tokens in all regions once again skyrocketed due to the mass buyouts. I, personally, am very happy with the flexibility of the WoW token, but can understand the frustrations of someone who is trying to use it for game time and have heard a lot of complaints from friends that they may have to revert to paying for a subscription. This 20000-80000g increase (depending on region) is a pretty steep difference for someone who doesn't play as frequently and just wants to use the WoW token for paying for game time.

-You can't have more then 10 tokens on one account.

BUT

-You can transfer your tokens into Blizzard Balance.
-Blizzard Balance won't buy automatically subs you have to do it manually.
-Blizzard Balance won't charge for taxes on game time/subs. So 1 token equals exactly 1 free month converted into Bizzard Balance $ (that is if you don't wait 5 years to use your balance and prices have gone up).

So it's all good.

If your country of residence is different than your location, in addition to being unable to purchase tokens out of the Blizzard store, tokens purchased off the AH cannot be used toward Battle.net balance.

You *can* use a token purchased off the AH for the purposes of game time, but *only* game time.

Haven't seen any info on the maximum amount of tokens you can buy with real money since they changed it, but after having a chat with a GM and checking the support article for them (under Limitations and Restrictions) it's been upped to 20 per week (and 20 in your inventory at once) if bought with real money.

This token seems like a very nice thing to buy to get Gold, Gametime, and even Blizzard Balance.

The amount you can redeem a token for seems to be dependant on the cost of a monthly sub in your region rounded up to the nicest number.

For fun and as a comparison I thought it would be cool to see how this compares in different countries as well to see the differences in balance return rate.. all tokens purchased in the same region do feed into the same pool in-game even if bought from a cheaper country. Note that Blizzard has disabled token purchases from Brazil and Argentina due to significantly cheaper sub prices in the region and people having abused them as a cheap source of tokens. I will add the data for the missing countries if I come across the regional prices in said markets.

What does all this mean?

Irrespective of what the token costs in your country and the inherit currency fluctuations, you will get the best return for your ingame gold if your battle.net currency is set up as Canadian Dollars for example a character boost would cost approx 3.4 tokens in Canada, but in the UK you need to redeem 4.9 tokens to buy the same boost. Currently the cheapest tokens for IRL money are in Mexico for US and Turkey for EU servers, though this can vary with exchange rates. This obviously does not consider any added taxes which is generally only a thing in the United States.

Asian tokens cant be redeemed for balance, this may be because those tokens arent priced much higher than the sub cost themselves.

Please report any price indiscrepancies, Blizzard can change pricing at a moments notice, I will try to update the table should I be aware of any changes.

Last Update: Tokens may no longer be purchased with TRY & ARS got redemption value hike in August 2022; Corrected KZT rates July 2022; TRY, UAH, KZT & GEL added as currency options in May 2022.

i'm just happy i saw the market future for these when they 1st came out for around 20k each
so i spent 1M for all i could get.
those finally ran out 3 months back.
i think it was their way to shut out the gold sellers, seems to have worked, but not completely.

Here you can find wow token price - I see this site is refreshing a price after 10 minutes ;) The data shows that the best time to buy is during the first week of a larger patch or the first month of a new expansion pack. You can see that the number of players has a negative impact on the price, which then drops significantly!

Whyyyyy does the EU get pummeled with gold prices on these things? Currently 293k gold for a token, but the US one is only 153k gold. The current cash exchange rate is only +.06 cent as well.
