IF YOU DIE IN THE SHADOW REALM, THIS ITEM STOPS DROPPING. GO STRAIGHT TO EHT TREE AND THE KNIFE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU!

Been doing this at lvl 91 and farmed that lantern for over 10 mobs till I gave up and cehcked the tree out of curiosity and there it was...

wasted time.. but don´t make my mistake!

Something I noticed, the Lantern does not seem to drop unless you have already burned the spirit effigy at Mother Om’ra's grave.

I base this off the following: 80 voidtwisters slain with no drops prior to burning the effigy, with one slain with a drop after.

If you are doing this at a low level (92-94), I would suggest entering the village using camo, head strait back to the first Voidtwisters. There is a small house on a hill to the right. A single Voidtwister and his wolf are there. Go to the side of the house and trap the Voidtwister, then kill the wolf first. If you need to, burn all your CDs on the wolf before the trap ends. Once you can fight the Voidtwister without his wolf it becomes a rather simple tank and spank, just keep your pet mended. This was by far the hardest step in the chain at level 93.

Clicking the Lanterna del Vuoto at this location in Shadowmoon Valley (the Great Tree Valuundira: 60.2, 38.6), will produce Lama del Vuoto di Torvaluna. Afterwards, there is a permanent Lanterna del Vuoto spell at this location which can be cast by clicking on the Lama del Vuoto di Torvaluna, which gives the player a 60 minute buff that phases them into the Void Realm. This is part of the Gara tame quest chain for beastmaster hunters.

Fly to Akeeta's Hovel, Gorgrond and leave Sfregianotte heading southeast. Follow the path and do not take the left turn into the cave but stay on the path southeast until reaching Pillars of Fate. There are two Guerriero Torvaluna guarding the entrance and many Profanatore Torvaluna channeling crystals and patrolling. Beyond them you will see the Torcivuoto Torvaluna patrolling and on guard with their pet Lupo Alfa del Vuoto. works well again to get through without conflict.

Lanterna del Vuoto is unique. You can only carry one, but you can use one and get the one hour Lanterna del Vuoto buff, then kill another Torcivuoto Torvaluna and get one to take in your bags for latter if needed. Remember that when you use Lanterna del Vuoto and get the Lanterna del Vuoto buff you appear invisible ... just like , but the bad guys can still see you and will swarm you like they did me. It gets confusing.

Hunter's only need to kill one Torcivuoto Torvaluna for the Lanterna del Vuoto to drop.
How to tame Gara the Spirit Beast

If you had burned the effigy but the void lantern is not dropping, here is why:

You must burn the effigy and then after Xan kills Gara, you must then go over and kill 1 Shadowmoon Voidtwister. If you ask a GM (like my wife did) he/she will tell you that it is a rare drop and is not 100% drop rate. As I soon discovered, this is only true if a) you aren't a hunter or b) you have logged out, gotten disconnected, etc. after burning the effigy. If you are in the b camp, you will need to go and create another effigy, burn it, watch the scene again, and then go kill a Voidtwister.

I know this will work if you are stuck. It saved my wife from having to spend two more hours of farming.

So... weird thing.

Blood elf death knight, just flying around the Pillars of Fate to kill Soul-Twister Torek. I find a rare, Malgosh Shadowkeeper, who drops one of these.

Now, according to the rest of the page, since I have never encountered Gara (until I used the Voidblade and now s/he's following me), this shouldn't be possible. Not sure what to think there.

Perhaps a change was made that not only makes this an easier drop for Hunters on the quest, but now drops for all?

Dropped for this Mage. I was able to use, travel to tree and retrieve the dagger, have Gara join me, kill a few Void Callers, have Xan appear and dispose of him. Mother Om'ra did appear, display dialog and Gara became tamable (turned neutral).

Although attackable, Gara can only be reduced to 1 HP. Was forced to walk away to drop combat and fly away from the area.

Event is repeatable, assuming you still have the Void Lantern buff.

98% refer current and future Hunters to the step-by-step guide posted under Gara by Niecho (in 2020 even!). The only updates are:

FROSTFIRE RIDGE: Ammazzagiganti Spaccatuono is a single huge NPC patrolling in a gully just down the side of a small mountain. He patrols around into a cave where there is a fire (inside the skeleton's mouth).

"GO TO FLIGHT PATH @ AKEETA'S HOVEL IN SHADOWMOON VALLEY - HEAD NORTHEAST AND ENTER SHADOWMOON FROM HERE"
= should read as: "TAKE FLIGHT PATH TO AKEETA'S HOVEL IN SHADOWMOON VALLEY - HEAD SOUTHEAST AND ENTER SHADOWMOON VALLEY FROM HERE"
(if you follow the OP directions you might assume you enter the SM Burial Grounds dungeon, do NOT enter dungeon area at all)

The Lanterna del Vuoto places a 1-hour void aura on you called Lanterna del Vuoto similar to a shadow priest. You can loot only one (1), but once you use Lama del Vuoto di Torvaluna at the Great Tree Valuundira you can go back and kill another Torcivuoto Torvaluna to loot another Lanterna del Vuoto (that you can take in dungeons/raids and look oh so snazzy!).

NOTE: You can only seem to tame one (1) Gara spirit beast, but you can tame unlimited Lupo Fatuo Perdutos IN THE SAME VOID INSTANCE. In other words, tame Gara, then ride/fly NORTH to /way 65 37 and you'll find a single Lupo Fatuo Perduto snoozing under a small tree.

Tame Lupo Fatuo Perduto, wait a minute or so and another Lupo Fatuo Perduto will respawn. Tame all you like, or just stick with the two already tamed.

Fun fact: A tamed Lupo Fatuo Perduto does NOT keep its name, BUT its name changes to a kewl "Spirit Beast" instead. A spirit beast named Spirit Beast. Enjoy!

NOTE 2: In Dragonflight era, most mid+ level Hunters can 1-shot Xan w/o needing pets up. Take your 1-2 and then have slots to tame 2-4 more spirit beasts if you like. Xan spawned maybe 30 yards north of the void dagger tree you start at. So once you kill Xan, tame Gara, then go straight north to tame Lupo Fatuo Perduto.
