This riverbeast is one of 6 "trained" mounts introduced in Warlords of Draenor.

These mounts require a level 1 or higher Stables in your Garrison. Each of them require capturing a wild mount with a lasso and then completing several quests with them before they are finally learned. Quests involve killing monsters around Draenor while mounted on your mount-in-training.

The Stables occupies a Large Plot in your garrison.

All mounts will be kept and ridable if you decide to demolish your Stables after learning them.

Completing all 6 quest chains will earn you Signore delle cavalcature which rewards you with Scuderia, Livello 3.

Two additional mounts come from defeating mount-in-training targets while carrying an item that makes defeating the target more challenging.

Cinghiale del Gelo Corazzato Reward from (H) / (A). Defeat all of the mount-in-training targets in Nagrand while carrying the Black Claw of Sethe: Damage taken increased by 25%. Movement speed reduced by 25%.
Lupo Bianco Corazzato Reward from (H) / (A) . Defeat all mount-in-training targets in Nagrand while carrying the Garn-Tooth Necklace: Damage taken increased by 50%. Movement speed reduced by 50%.

This mount uses the exact same movements as the dinos from MoP. That was really sad to see. Like, really Fsad.

One of the coolest looking mounts of WoD.. with the WORST running animation.. that mount run like a cockroach.

While the Riverwallow was in training, I could move and cast spells. Now that it is fully trained I can no longer cast and move. Disappointing.
So the reason to have a stable is to get these mounts, but they don't do anything special.
I am thinking of not turning the rest of them in so that I can keep the ability to move and cast.

I just want you all to know, that later when you go for more final buildings, you'll keep those 6 Trained mounts that you have gathered during your Stable era. So it's all ok to pick and have fun with the Stables during your upgoing period. The 20% speed-buff and the possibilty to do all kinds of actions without dismounting is really helpful during your level-up+ time. AGAIN: YOU WILL KEEP ALL 6 OF YOUR SPECIAL "TRAINED-MOUNTS" if you change the Stables later-on.
