Looks like we'll be seeing an expansion of the cosmetic (transmog-only) item type in WoD. I assume this is a prize during the Pilgrim's Bounty holiday.

If you're a leather-wearer wanting one of these for transmog, keep in mind that there's a bunch of helms that have the same model/colour, including one that's crafted by LW.

Clothies who might also be wanting this outside of the season (or just not happy with waiting for dailies to reset) there's also a green BoE that drops in Hellfire Ramparts/Peninsula and Blood Furnace if you feel like some grinding.

Obviously, this is cosmetic and can be used for transmogrification with any armor type. More interesting for collectors is that this item is an exact replica of Cappello del Pellegrino (specific design and color) which could not be transmogged, the original head can be safely destroyed. Take note that this color is not shared among all the hats of the same model that are available for varying armor types.

Has a low chance to drop from Ringraziamento del Pellegrino. If you are a collector, I wouldn't worry too much about farming this on multiple characters, with Legion's up-coming wardrobe feature, having the 1 Cappello Elegante del Pellegrinoon your account should be enough for all your transmog needs across your characters.

Update: As of 7.2 we can wear our fancy hats at any wonderful moment, hooray for the wardrobe feature <3

The fact that this item is not being added to the wardrobe is not a "bug", though the logic the developer in charge of it used to justify this decision has more holes than swiss cheese.

This item is "seasonal headwear", none of which is intended to go into the UI for some absolutely mind-blowingly stupid reason. I had a brief back-and-forth with him about it on the Wardrobe bug report thread. This is why the Crown of the Fire Festival was removed.

However, it was pointed out to him that he was wrong about the time at which the Crown was flagged as cosmetic, and reverted the change. It had been cosmetic for a while thus he added it back in.

Yet, he still insists that this item - that was introduced in addition to the existing non-cosmetic Pilgrim's Hat specifically for cosmetic purposes 1-2 years before this feature came out, that has look-alikes for specific armor types, is not intended, and never was intended to be transmogged.

So while I hate to be the bearer of bad news, unfortunately it doesn't look like this cosmetic item - or any number of other fun seasonal ones - will ever become transmoggable unless Blizzard gets over this nonsensical idea that transmog needs to be as restrictive as possible, because reasons.

In 2016, with the advent of the new Appearances system, and the exclusion of this item from that system, this hat does nothing the Cappello del Pellegrino doesn't do. If you have a Fine Pilgrim's Hat, it will serve for the achievement that requires a Pilgrim Hat, but it's just a duplicate hat, no longer anything special. The meaning of it's cosmetic type has been subverted. There really is not longer any reason for this hat to exist; the reason it was created no longer applies.

That said, even though the devs seem adamant about not including it, there is enough push back over the abject stupidity of the exclusion that I'd hang on to one in hope that it changes.

Good news, everyone! After 7.3.0 patch Cappello Elegante del Pellegrino finally become moggable again, and, of course, this hat can be used for any type of armor.

I just find this Cappello Elegante del Pellegrino with my lvl 20 orc warriror.
I found it inside a Ringraziamento del Pellegrino bag.
I checked my collections, it appears for both factions.
And there is no time limit for transmog this hat.
Other pilgrim mogs have time limit but this Cappello Elegante del Pellegrino doesn't.
