I hope this will summon a vendor of some sort as the Paggio di Gilda (Horde) / Paggio di Gilda (Alliance) has an 8 hour cooldown and can basically only be used once or twice per day while this seem to be useable whenever you like as it doesn't have a cooldown atall in the tooltip. It would be a nice addition to everyone that hasn't got a Richiamo del Commerciante d'Anime, the Soul-Trader got no cooldown and it also comes with a vendor but to obtain one is rather hard as it comes from the TCG and those can only be bought on e-Bay. You can be lucky though if someone is selling it on the AH but it won't be cheap unless you're in luck. So back to the Fischietto Segreto which I very much hope will be an unlimited vendor that you will be able to summon whenever you feel like it due to the lack of a CD which is really nice.

I just got one from pickpocketing an orc in Nagrand. The whistle summons Griftah, our favourite junk-selling troll. He has a blue quest Punteggi elevati which rewards 250g, the amulet I got from the same pocket as the whistle sold to Griftah (via chat option <fence goods>) for 7 dingy coins. I had also oozing amulet which sold for the same. Basically, any amulet or ring that is just some random item that you can't wear and is in some humanoid's pocket is probably going to be the crap he buys in exchange for dingy coins.

White rings to purple items each give 5 to 20 dingy iron coins each, it looks like how many you get is based on rarity of the item. You'll need 1000 for the quest.

Next quest is Davvero? ~~(which is currently bugged, it won't take my 10k coins)~~ Got fixed since, and changed to only require 5k coins.

The summoned mob only had the Fence Loot option for me and as the 4 mobs for the quest seem to be the only ones with pockets i wasnt able to test much :(

These can be pickpocketed from the prepatch named mobs like Rukah the machinist. This summons a troll who you can sell the items you pickpocketed. Current respawn timer once killed is 15-20 secs as of 10/14/2014.

can be pick pocketed from Rukah the Machinist, Mokrik Blackfingers, and Gar Steelcrush in the pre patch event. they also have the sell able loot for the fence. so for only those 3 mobs drop it in the event.

Apparently, crime does pay! This is a new way to reward your thieving ways:

Introduced for Warlords of Draenor with patch 6.0.2, this is one of several items that are obtained through pick pocketing. (For example, these may be found in the pockets of some of the invading Iron Horde, like the three NPCs who are the objective of Tenenti folli.)

Use your Fischietto Segreto to summon a 'shadowy figure' like Griftah, who will 'fence your goods' - meaning buy your stolen goods and pay you with Monete di Ferro, which are used for quests like Punteggi elevati.

Goodbye Junkboxes! Don't look so stunned, ya Tramortimento! A Ladro's gotta make a living somehow! And this feels way more fun and illicit!

The absolute best place to pickpocket so far that I've found is in the Tomb of Lights in Talador. as soon as you start the quests that take place inside, there is an endless stream of pickpocketable Orc mobs that come out of a portal that fight friendly NPCs. They die fairly quickly, which means the mobs refresh and make it easy to pickpocket the new mobs. I made 2000 Dingy Iron Coins in the span of 20 minutes.

I like the fact that Blizzard took some time to try and come up with a new pockpicketing system. But between the fact that these items take up so much bag space and that Griftah has an hour long CD I'd rather that these things were just all worth gold and we could vendor them ourselves.

I really don't see the advantage of fencing them with Griftah and going through the process of collecting Dingy coins to eventually convert to Gold through a quest.

I'd love a new pickpocketing system but like a lot of things in WoD this doesn't feel quite finished.

I have found out by a simple (and not meant at all) test that there's a very easy way to finish this quest.

Simply go to the Tomb Of Lights in Talador and there's an ongoing invasion.

You can pickpocket all of the invading mobs.
Took me around 20 mins for the full 1000 counter

If you have nothing better to do and you want to pick pockets as fast as you can, head into the Tomb of Lights in Talador (just northeast of Auchindoun). From Exarch's Refuge FP, head to the entrance at 58.6 65.03.Go down to the bottom of the stairs then left where you will see the Shadow Pillagers and Shadow Infiltrators streaming from the portals. Just get in stealth and go. No need to Sap first. Enjoy.

Major glitch going on with this thing.

So before the newest patch, there were five or so Arakkoa mobs in Spires that dropped the various pickpocketing items related to the whistle and Griftah's quest.

With the newest patch, these same mobs now inexplicably drop the Secretive Whistle 100% of the time. I can confirm this because it happened to me today.

Since the whistle is unique, you can only have one in your inventory. Thus you must leave the whistle on the corpses, unless you have it in your inventory and choose to discard the one you have and pick up the new one.

If you DON'T do that, you end up having The Postmaster mail you all of the left behind whistles. You can't just delete these emails because you can't delete epic/purple items within a mail. Thus you must discard the whistle you have, then take each whistle out of your mail one at a time and delete it, until you are finally left with only one.

A real pain the ass.

This item is pick pocketed from the first mob that can have it that you pickpocket.

It is a way to kill time but not a great way to make gold.

It is a gimmicky little thing as are all the different pickpocket systems throughout the xpacs but the the reason people will do this is for the barrel of bandanas toy that you can get from capping out on the dingy coins.

Ultimately, why would you not kill a few hours so you could rock up to raids and share a bunch of awesome head pieces out to your raid?

They added a new quest reward!

You have the first one at 1000 coins -> 250g
And a new one for 2000 coins -> 1500g!

After that it's 5000coins but for only 10g, so you better of keeping the coins after that until it reset.

Summons the npc Griftah, who sells you various toys/transmog items. He only deals in Monete di Ferro, which you get from fencing pickpocketed draenor goodies to him.

In regards to farming Monete di Ferro, I made a little mini-guide a while ago that I thought I would share here:

There are 2 spots where you can farm these coins really quickly.

The best spot in my opinion is located at the iron front at in Tanaan Jungle, but only if you can find an apexis farming group in your group finder. Every now and then, people will set up groups to kill the mobs located at the iron front over and over to farm apexis crystals because they respawn very quickly. A side effect of this is it makes for some really good pickpocketing. Combining this with the fact that Tanaan Jungle mobs drop higher quality fencing goods, you can get around 10,000 coins per hour if you're the only rogue pickpocketing.

These groups are getting more and more rare as time goes on though. They are usually up during the apexis bonus weekends, so that's the best time to check for them.

The other spot which has been posted many times is at the tomb of lights located at in Talador. Enter the tomb and take the first left to a room with 2 portals. These portals spawn pickpocketable npcs infinitely, so you can just stay in one spot and pickpocket them as they come out their portals. I was able to get around 4000-5000 coins per hour using this method. Definitely slower than the iron front, but you don't need a group for this spot.

To make it a little easier, I used the following macro:

This makes it so you can just spam one button, and it will pickpocket anything you're facing. Make sure you have auto-loot enabled to maximize speed.

By far and away the best place to farm coins is the Throne of KJ. You stand a MUCH better chance of getting loot that sells for more than just a few coins, especially if you PP the Felguard Sentinels.

2k coins in around 10 mins. After you have PP'ed the mobs in a small area, don't bother mounting up and going around, just use LFD to realm hop. You can effectively stay in one place and farm 10k coins per hour.

Here is an updated Monete di Ferro guide for patch 7.0! There are some changes to be made aware of.

The previously very helpful Glyph of Pick Pocket ("Increases the range of your Pick Pocket ability by 5 yards") has been removed.
Realm hopping is more challenging. In order to be transferred to a new server, someone in the group that you are joining needs to be in the same zone as you for you to be transferred over. If no one else is, you stay put.
With the new transmog system in place, all gear you purchase from Griftah will have the appearances saved permanently into your collection. As such, you can delete these items and you will still be able to transmog their looks indefinitely.

Let's dive right in!

Preamble

This mini-guide is tailored to those who may not main a Ladro. Perhaps you, like myself, may have levelled one for the Follia estrema achievement, and/or Barile di Bandane. As such, I've included the simplest methods, that require the least work (aside from levelling the character). As well, you don't need to know any combat mechanics or rotations to use these methods - there are ways listed below that shouldn't require you to fight anything!

Do note that the Toy, Barile di Bandane is only usable by Ladros, but will still count on ALL characters towards achievements like Ricorda di condividere (the new achievement that rewards the mount Estrattore di Legna Meccanizzato).

A primer on Borseggio

This ability allows you to obtain extra loot from many Humanoid mobs, available only to Ladros. This is in addition to any loot you would obtain if you subsequently killed the mob.

Borseggio requires that you are close to the mob in question (melee range).
Borseggio can only be used when stealthed.
Certain items, like Dadi Troll Consumati and Dadi Nanici Decaedrici can only be obtained via pickpocketing.
Pickpocketing mobs that are Neutral will not aggro them, unless you attack them otherwise in some way.
Once a mob is pickpocketed (by any Ladro), it's pockets are "depleted" for a period of time (typically about 5 minutes) before you can get loot from it again.

Alternatively if the mob dies and a new one respawns, its pockets can be picked.

Scatto is useful while pickpocketing, and Ladro talents like Predatore della Notte (Asssassination, Subtlety) and Acchiappa e Scappa (Outlaw) are as well.

What are Monete di Ferro?

This currency is exclusive to Ladros, and is obtained by pickpocketing in Draenor. You don't get these coins directly - there are items you pickpocket that you can "fence" to earn the coins.

How do I get Monete di Ferro?

The first time you pickpocket in Draenor, you will receive a Fischietto Segreto. Using this item will summon Griftah, a shady vendor who will both pay Monete di Ferro for the goods you have pilfered, and also sells items that cost varying amounts of Monete di Ferro.

Pickpocketing humanoids in Draenor will yield the aforementioned items that can be "fenced", or traded into Griftah for coins.
After you have collected a stockpile of these trinkets, simply use Fischietto Segreto to summon Griftah, then select "<Fence your loot>" when you speak to him. He will then take all of the loot you have pickpocketed from your bags, and give you a lump sum of the total coins they are worth (based on the chart below).

Below is a summary of these items. Beside each is listed the number of Monete di Ferro you'll get for the item, and where they can be obtained.

Further Information

Giungla di Tanaan mobs only yield Green (Uncommon) or higher quality items
The above percentages chances are per item. For example, in Non-Tanaan zones, Medaglione dei Sogni, Catenina delle Speranze, and Girocollo degli Incubi each have a 5-6% chance to be Pickpocketed (total 15-18% chance of getting a Rare item), whereas Idolo Ancestrale Luminoso and Perle Infuse di Magma each have a ~3% chance to be pickpocketd (total 6% of getting an Epic item).
As a currency, Monete di Ferro are not in your bags, but rather can be found on your Currency tab under Character Info (C)
The hard cap on Monete di Ferro is 20,000, so don't stockpile too much!
Fischietto Segreto has a 15 minute cooldown, and Griftah will stick around for about 1 minute before disappearing.
Each loot item stacks to 20 in your bags. You should plan to have some bag space available based on where you are pickpocketing:

There are 14 different items that you will stockpile when pickpocketing in zones outside of Giungla di Tanaan.
There are 16 different items that you will collect when pickpocketing within Giungla di Tanaan.

Areas to Pick Pocket

Since we are well beyond Warlords of Draenor now, your best bet is to pickpocket in Tanaan Jungle. Further to this, the previous hot spot (Tomb of Lights in Talador) no longer works.

Tanaan Jungle

Giungla di Tanaan can be a very lucrative spot to pickpocket for Monete di Ferro. Keep in mind that the most lucrative items that can be fenced, the "Tanaan-only" epic items listed above, cannot be obtained elsewhere (most notably the rare but very valuable Urna Memoriale Scolpita, worth 250 coins!).

The drawbacks to Tanaan are:

You have to always be looking for new mobs to pickpocket (new Humanoids).

Sometimes you travel a significant distance to find new targets.

Given that all mobs are level 100 and some are Elites, you will sometimes be forced from stealth and will enter combat, requiring you to kill the attackers.

This also makes you vulnerable to ganking (on PvP servers) as there are usually many members of the opposite faction around.

Tanaan mobs typically do not have any money in their pockets.

Despite these drawbacks, you can potentially net much more coins per hour in Giungla di Tanaan, with an increased risk of combat (which you may want to avoid if you are unaccustomed to or not inclined to engage in combat with your rogue, or your gear isn't that great). Rates of 2,000-3,000 coins every 15 minutes have been reported.

What can I get with Monete di Ferro?

Below is a description of how you can use your ill-gotten gains!

Quests

There are a few weekly quests available that can net you some gold for a little bit of time invested! These are offered by and completed via Griftah when he is summoned. The first two of these quests will net you a total of per week (for 3000 Monete di Ferro).

Target + Pickpocket Macro

This macro allows you to both target and pickpocket your target with one button. As long as the target is in front of you and in range, it will work. This is useful for the Tomb of Lights, where you don't want to be sapping targets.

Sap + Pickpocket Mouseover Macro

This macro allows you to sap and pickpocket with a single button. It will also put a raid marker on your target. You do not have to worry about targeting any mobs either, as it is a mouseover macro. Simply mouse over the appropriate mob and click the macro.
For it to work optimally, you must be in range to pickpocket, and also must be standing still at the moment the macro is pressed. This macro is ideal to use in Giungla di Tanaan.

does this still drop or can be pickpocked? any specific mob, because farmed this along all WOD pickpocking and then killing all mobs and got lots of items but not asingle Secretive Whistle:( do i need to be in some quest or....?

For anyone wondering. Yes, you can sell/delete and re-obtain Fischietto Segreto with Borseggio.

I couldn't find my answer here, so I had to test it myself.
