I believe this item is useless if your First Aid profession is maxed (currently 600 or higher). Your skill level will not increase, and you'll just waste your furs.

Why does this have a cap of 600? I'm trying to level first aid, I saw Abandoned Medic Kit in my inventory and I have tons of fur, yet there is no level increase. Now I get to sell these Basic Medic Kits because they're useless above 600.

As far as I can tell this item and others like it, like the Cracked Hand Drum are there to help you boost your tradeskills to 600. Their outcomes are vendor trash, but were used for speeding up garrison building in the Beta.

DO NOT REPAIR THESE.

As of right now they take 5 sumptuous fur for a grey item and give 5 skill up to 600 first aid. However, the Antiseptic Bandage - which is learned from the first aid book you should get shortly after coming to Draenor - also gives 5 skill up to 600 and takes the same 5 sumptuous fur. On top of that, you get bandages! Useful!

Confirmed to still only use 5 fur as of mid January.
Still completely and totally a waste of resources and inefficient for gaining skill.
Benda Antisettica also takes five fur, also grants 5 skill points all the way to 600, while creating 4 actually useful bandages. Unless making a slightly more valuable-to-vendors gray item seems appealing, DON'T.

As of patch 6.2, these kits use (*cough*waste*cough*) 10 Sumptuous Fur. You will most likely get a grey item in return, a Basic Medical Kit which isn't worth the mats put into it. Unless you happen to enjoy wasting useful mats, just vendor these abandoned med kits.

I'm not sure when they changed from using 5 to 10 sumptuous furs, but that is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

I don't think that First Aid has really been useful since The Burning Crusade, but I can't help but look at these and at the entire profession now with pity.

This only costs 5 Pelliccia Splendida to make now.

I am getting 5 pts skill up to First Aid each time I make one.
So it still has a use, just not the grey Kit Medico Base it produces.

However, making Benda Antisettica is a better use of Fur because you also get Bandages out of it.

As of BfA you can no longer use this item without Tailoring.

You don't know that skill.

You can sell this Soulbound item to a vendor for 12 silver and 50 copper each.
