I don't believe this is a waste of a trinket spot. It has saved me on many occasions, and the extra shield I'm sure gets on people's nerves a lot in PvP. It gives about 3 extra seconds to get off another cast or hit, which could most definitely turn the tables in any situation.

I just got this trinket about 15 minutes ago from a Tar Lord in Un'Goro Crater. I tried to get it to proc by fighting a mob with fists and putting my pet on passive, and had no luck so I decided to just go about my usual questing. The trinket proc'd on the very next mob and then TWICE on the one after that. This may be a waste of a trinket slot for melee classes, but 15 seconds to cast without interruption is a hell of a useful trinket for my 56 lock :)

This is actually a very nice tanking trinket for a paladin! Paladins don't mind having damage shields (it interferes with rage generation on druids/warriors), and with 5 mobs hitting on you, it procs quite regulary. It's also good for the famed "paladin prot AoE grinding".

IMO a nice thing for its level.

My pala uses it along with with Truesilver Champion (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7960) which has a similar effect, and altogether they proc pretty often saving my health (and time:) while grinding.

A funny moment. Another paladin grinded in the same area and he whispered me how could I use Divine Protection without cooldown:)).

Nice trinket for a drain-tanking warlock too, procs a decent amount while grinding, and the mitigation helps clothies alot.

I am currently testing the Protection Paladin AOE farmer build on the PTR. I bought and copied this item, then sent it to my test Paladin.

This is because I am particularly interested in testing the upper limit of the class's mass aggro capabilities. While soloing in the Lyceum, an area within Black Rock Depths with effectively limitless amounts of lvl 55 non elites (30 second respawn), I was being hit for -11 to -18 damage with Blessing of Sanctuary up (which, like all abilities of its kind, is applied before armor and can not reduce final damage taken by more then half).

This trinket procs, on average, once every 50 hits. Assuming an average hit for -16 (and a very large number of aggroed mobs), you are mitigating 200 damage for every 800 damage taken (16 dmg / hit * 50 hits). This value of >20% mitigation is worth more then the Argussian Compass for extended fights due to its scaling based on the number of hits / damage and hits / second you are taking.

The compass absorbs what I will assume to be 80 hits (~1200 / 15 ; numbers are fudged in favor of the compass) every 120 seconds. This mitigates 12 attacks every 18 seconds, and each proc of Uther's Strength is worth ~12 attacks. This means that for Uther's Strength to outpace Argussian Compass you would have to be hit (still assuming you are being hit by Lyceum trash) 50 times every 18 seconds, or roughly 2.75 times per second. I don't know how fast Lyceum trash attacks, but I can confidently say I was being hit many times that.

This is a >VERY STRONG TRINKET< for high level characters interested in pulling very large numbers of lower level mobs.

On a side note: my Skullflame Shield was stealing ~340 health per proc, or healing me around 6% of all damage taken. The Force of Will does not see the sort of use you would expect in this sort of situation, as it functions on similar mechanics to Blessing of Sanctuary. The Alembic of Infernal Power has a hidden cooldown, and has a maximum expected functionality of 20/mp5s.

good for big pulls like vc for running noobs if u pull it boss to boss thats about 50 each pull meaning u will be pretty much bubbled non stop

Still using this at 68 on my mage. It's unbelievably useful and the proc is frequent. Saved my ass many a time and it still absorbs a couple of hits.

It's not listed on the "contained in" tab, but I got one from a greater darkmoon faire prize. On my realm (Nazgrel), these things sell for around 400g, so it was definitely worth my 40 faire tickets!

After 3 times of testing, I can confirm this absorbs 250 damage when it procs. I'm not sure if this changes with different stats, gear or level, but I was a level 51 Shaman while testing this.

This is during patch 3.1.1.

justification for prot paladin created trinket:

it is uther, one of the first of the paladins and the leader when the knights of the silver hand fell, an event that is well known by impatient level 80's waiting for the CoS event to commence.

as a paladin, he protected the people, and unlike arthas who was more of a ret pally (pretty obvious, with this Mal' ganis obsession) so this trinket would make sense lorewise to be uther's.

also pallies, even in wc3 have always been known for their bubbles O.o

Tried farming for Axe of Rin'ji and two of these dropped. Hope to get a pretty penny for them. Both off of the Shadowsworn Cultist in Blasted lands, just south of Nethergarde Both were withing 45 minutes of eachother.

I remmember when I first saw it I expected proc to be like Divine Shield. Those item descriptions used to be quite fuzzy.
However, I suppose it could just read

Has a 2% chance when struck in combat of protecting you with a holy shield, absorbing 200 damage for 15 seconds.

I have this on my druid and as far as I can tell it's nice. I can confirm that it definitely does proc in bear form.

However, due to the fact that when it procs it doesn't say how much it absorbs in the buff tooltip, the absorption from this item does not show up in Recount, which makes it very difficult to determine just how useful it really is.
