This can be good or not so good depending on how you look at it.

Having these on your gloves will NOT increase the amount of plants picked up, it will however give less failed. So its quite nice if your grinding herbs for a few hours to put this on a low level pair of gloves, it could save a lot of time.

Took me 20 minutes to farm in Ashenvale. I guess i was lucky, but it's farmable.

I found this on the mobs in Stonetalon. I was expecting a while for it to drop, but I found it on the fourth mob I was farming. :o

Got it off a charred ancient (54 kills)
Also 25 blackened ancients, and 5 or so vengeful ancients.

I got mine off of a Crazed Ancient in Ashenvale. Overall, it took 67 kills. If you intend to farm this recipe, I highly recommend doing it in Ashenvale, as I was able to kill 62 of these guys there in under 45 minutes, whereas they are so rare in the Charred Vale in Stonetalon that I only got 5 in about 15 minutes. Keep in mind this was while riding around on a 100% mount with 20% mount speed increase on my death knight.

Mine took 63 kills. Just ride in circles around the area, and it wont take longer than an hour.

Glad to see this has been gotten somewhat recently. Been farming this for about 2 months off and on. This keeps up I will have deforested Ashenvale singlehandedly.

I have tried farming this in Ashenvale on 3 different trips, killing over 100 each time. NO LUCK. Actually found 2 OL rare drops echant rec. in the AH today, so I got froggy and went back to Ashenvale .. hit it on 5th kill. Killed about 30 more and no more drops, but I got mine! I am now down to 9 patterns for all enchant patterns in the game. Those dang World Dragon drops will be the death of me ....

Been farming this ever since an enchanter offered 20k to anyone who could get it to him. I'm a little over 1000 kills in and still no luck. All I have to show is a massive amount of greys (about a dozen Brocade sets) and a handful of trash greens. I finally got impatient and petitioned a GM who was not helpful at all. Basically all he would tell me was that it still existed and to keep farming. He wouldnt even tell me anything about the Advanced Herbalism formula.

Sigh.

This is now a BoP zone drop from Ashenvale.
Mine dropped from an Ashenvale Outrunner after about 40 kills of various mobs.

I can confirm that this is now a BoP drop from Ashenvale. I got it from a Severed Druid after about 25 kills. This is great news to anyone that has been farming the Ancients unsuccesfully, but bad news to anyone farming for someone else for gold.

Glad Blizzard listened to people that opened tickets about this formula, myself included!

I can't believe it just dropped for me because I've been looking for it forever and no one's had any ACCURATE information of where it drops since Cataclysm -- until today. Where does it drop?

Off of Mystlash Hydras in the water near Zoram'Gar Post in Ashenvale.

This pattern dropped for one of my guild mates today on the Proudmoore Alliance server at around 4:30pm CST, 9 Dec 2011. It dropped from the rare black bear Ursol'lok.

If it wasn't soulbound, I would have bought it for 8k. :(

This dropped for me 01/21/2012 off of one of the Wrathtail Naga frolicking around the Zoram Strand.

I was simply questing and it dropped off of a mob I had to kill for a quest, anyway.

BIG FAT IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS PATTERN IS BIND ON PICKUP.

I don't know if you have to be on an enchanter to get it to drop, but it just so happens that I took a priest (herb/alch) through all of Ashenvale and didn't see it once, but my mage-- XP locked at 20 for kicks to have the Ambassador title as a lowbie-- saw it within half an hour of being in Ashenvale, and she is a tailor/enchanter.

I'm assuming this is a ZONE DROP, meaning it drops off of pretty much anything in Ashenvale, which can make it extremely irritating to farm. But this also means you can prowl around heavily populated areas killing mobs to get it. I do suggest the Zoram Strand as there are ten tons of naga that are easy to kill, the naga drop clams and clam meat sells well (especially Tangy Clam Meat), and there are hydras further north, so really, win-win.

Just had mine drop from Rotting Slime in Ashenvale, South of Splintertree Post across the road.
It didn't drop from looting the slime itself, but sometimes the Rotting Slime will drop a box that can be looted. It was in there.

Awesome skill to have and a great money maker. I'd probably not enchant gloves for it even at end game due to the other aspects of the game. Unlike leather working where it helps with certain bosses/kills, the buff/enchant is currently not worth the benefit of other enchants.

The ancients are no longer the only source of this. According to the comments here as well as Ackis Recipe List it seems to be a zone drop in Ashenvale. Confirmed drops from Mystlash Hydras, Rotting Slime, Ashenvale Skirmisher and Bleakheart Trickster. The recipe is Bind on Pickup so your enchanter will have to do the farming for this.

If you are farming this (or anything else really), I encourage you to use the Wowhead Client to upload so we can help get the database up to date for stuff like this.

Farmed oozes for a couple hours and never got it, decided to work on quests instead and got it off of a Lesser Felguard in bottom left of Ashenvale.

Its funny how the red message sais that this item is no longer obtainable.It is.Just kill random creatures from Ashenvale.No creature has a higher drop.Every creature can drop it.I got it from a Ghostpaw runer 10 min after i started killing random mobs.

With the 7.0 prepatch, this item has been converted from "Formula: Enchant Gloves - Herbalism," a removed and rare item worth about 100k, to "Ancient Enchanting Vellum," a gray item with a vendor price of 75s.

Just an update for any completionists out there. Wife went to farm this recipe in Ashenvale, killing only the rotting slimes. She got it 5 minutes. I Decided to do the same thing since I was missing the recipe too. Killed the rotting slimes and got mine in less than 10 minutes. Happy hunting.
