A chance to be dug up from digsites (or looted from the accompanying spirits) in Draenor. Found mine at the third dig on the beta and first spectral corpse on live. The journal currently requires a skill of 575 to use but is getting reduced to 1 in Patch 6.1.

~~For Horde, Il bottino dei Lamacurva rewards the items to start all the primary crafting professions.~~ Looks like Blizzard removed that quest, thus changing how you acquire these items. I received them before I had finished the Bladespire Fortress quest line with my most recent character. The quests are two or 3 steps long and the final reward is an item you click to enable Draenor crafting as well as the level 1 blueprint for the related garrison building.

Prontuario di Pesca su Draenor and Primo Soccorso di Draenor both are found while fishing (as well as world drops) and Libro Mastro della Cartografia Fragile is found while digging. The remaining profession items -- Cucina di Draenor, Compendio delle Erbe di Draenor, Trattato sull'Estrazione su Draenor and Guida alla Scuoiatura su Draenor are random drops from out in the world. They do not have an associated quest, you just right click to learn the skill to the new Draenor max of 700.

NOTE: you can gather before you find these items, but if your skill is already level 600 you won't get any skill ups until you use the appropriate item.

For those who wonder how this works (like I did): once you receive the item from a dig site in Draenor, you need to click it to learn Draenor Archeology.

If you wish to learn Draenor Archeology (get 700 skill cap), you need to go to a digsite, start digging and wait for this item to drop.

Make sure you have "show digsites" checked on your map. I had mine off and was like wtf! at everyone saying "dig until you get this drop." I didn't understand how I could dig if I didn't have Draenor Archeology. Once you turn on digsites you will see digsites in Draenor with only 600 Archeology. Now dig until you get this item...

Got one of these early on in my arch career on Draenor. Didn't think about what it was, and assumed it was a keystone of rare quality.

Only later, after doing a ton of sites and wondering why I couldn't get the item to drop did I bother checking my bags for the item in question.

On the plus side, I ended up with enough fragments to get the frostwolf ghostpup immediately!

How rare are these? i'm level 100 with about 10 or so digsites cleared in draenor, never seen this, time to make a ticket? Yes skill is 600.

I used my pick one time on a barely trained toon and got the training. My 600 level toon has now visited several sites and fought several ancestors and not received the training for 700. Crazy RNG.

A level 1 is able to collect from Draenor dig sites, BUT you need a skill of 575 or greater to find this item.

Remember that the percent chance to drop here isn't real since it only drops for those who doesn't have it from before.

I can confirm you do not have to have level 600 Archaeology to get this. I got it on my level 100 rogue with skill of 592.

Good luck to everyone trying to nab one! I got mine at an ogre digsite in Nagrand.

I can confirm this drops without being at 575 skill level as of 6.1, my current skill level is 394 and I just dug one up in the Ring of Trials Sludge Digsite. Since I didn't see anyone mention if you could use to to get to 700 skill level from a lower than 575 skill level I gave it a shot and I am now 394/700.

Spent about 2 days digging for this and not finding it.

On a whim thought I would check my bank, had one in there.

It won't drop if you already have it ^_^

For someone like me that has a character on live that is 600/600 arch and lvl92 and can't see digsites this is sickening to type/read but you can actually get this at skill level 1. I just hopped on the PTR and one of my premades didn't know arch yet so I trained it 1/75 and then hit M and could see the digsites and on the first survey I got the journal and ended up 2/700... after hours of trying to work around the bug that's been known since day 1 of WoD and NEVER FIXED I got it just like that on PTR... with no way to fix it on live... Great job Blizz.

A friend of mine can't see any digsites in wow at all (lv 600 archeology) So no idea where she can start digging for Brittle Cartography Journal, anyone who has any idea how to help her?

Leveling through Draenor now, Panda Shaman with 1/75 Archeology. On previous toons, it seemed random when Draenor digsites showed up so I tried to pay attention this go.

Draenor digsites did not show up for this toon until I got the Level 2 Garrison, hit level 92, and logged out and back in again. I had previously logged out in Draenor after obtaining the Level 1 Garrison.

The Brittle Cartography Journal dropped in the first digsite I did.

As of Legion, the item is no longer necessary, as the trainer in Dal-Broken Isles will get you to 800 max immediately, like the other professions.

As of BFA, you get more and more of these when doing WoD Archeology. I got 25 of them, just by opening Ogre Archeology cases bought with Restored Artifacts.

As of BfA, I'm getting absurd quantities of these, even though I've already maxed out Draenor Archaeology.

Edit: It seems that unless I have one in my inventory, it appears every time I open an archaeological find.

As of Shadowlands, you STILL receive these over and over again, unless you hold one in your bag.
