Edit: Got it today after my 3rd total kill with my Warlock (his 2nd and both kill were today, so it can drop on every kill of the day and not only the first!). Chance to drop doesn't seem to be that low after all.

Edit2: Got it again on the same Warlock. So this can be looted multiple times, wich makes absolutely no sense. GG Blizzard...

OMG finally a black thundering cloud serpent! I've been wanting this since MoP was released. I hope it's not another 1/1000 world boss drop or 1/100 raid boss drop.

Hurray! It drops from a frequently spawning rare mob on timeless isles so it shouldn't be too hard to get!

I've kill it >50 times on PTR and still no mount. Hopefully it is 1% and not something crazy like the world boss mounts 0.1%. Rares on the island spawn about every hour afaict and multiple rares pop together similar to other pandaria zones, so if it is >1% then it will be easy to grind.

Update: I finally got it on live after ~20 kills. I'm so happy!

Possibly related to Huolon, a mob flying around the timeless isle, which is a thundering onyx serpent itself too.
It could also be a drop from a world boss like Ordos. Seeing as world bosses always get mount drops, this one might come from there.
Last and least, it could be related to timeless coins, or be a rare drop from a chest or item found somewhere!

Currently on the PTR (Build 17247), this dropped for me from Huolon <The Black Wind>, a rare elite Thundering Onyx Wind Serpent flying on the Timeless Isle. He seems to patrol a relatively large path near the Northeastern area of the island, as I've seen him once around The Blazing Way and again coming from Ordon Sanctuary over the broken bridge.

The first time I killed him, he only dropped a Uovo di Serpe di Fuoco Vibrante and a few Timeless Coins.
The second kill, he dropped a Timeless Armor piece and the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice in addition to the Timeless Coins, but no Uovo di Serpe di Fuoco Vibrante.

I'm wondering if the rares will be faction tagged like Isle of Thunder, and the mount drops, will it drop for everyone, or will each person have their own chance at the mount, some winning, most not?

IMO Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent (drops from Sha of Anger) is still the best looking cloud serpent mount in the game.

Huolon was the first thing I killed on Timeless Isle (over by Blazewing Way). I got the mount right away. Have asked both in guild and general chat if anyone else has gotten it, a few responded with "who hasn't?" though no one else in my guild has it that I know of. Sounds like it has a pretty decent drop rate. I honestly hoped it would be pretty rare, but I should have known that getting it right off with my luck, it can't be lol.

This mount, as stated by others, drops off of Huolon on the Timeless Isle. For those of you who are curious, it doesn't seem to be a terribly low drop rate... I had probably killed him only 5 or 6 times when I got mine. And while a lot of the people who killed him with me got the mount as well, not everybody did. So I guess it's just luck; but it's not stupid luck like the Heavenly Onyx Serpent off of the Sha of Anger or anything; if you kill Huolon enough, you WILL get this. Good luck!

Huolon is confirmed to be a rare spawn on Timeless Isle, spawning at the Blazing Way, with a large patrolling area. Notable loot includes Uovo di Serpe di Fuoco Vibrante and Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice.

There are internal daily quests for the rares on Timeless Isle, which drastically reduce the coins (and possibly loot) you get on your characters after your first kill that day.
Tracking Quest - First - Huolon- first kill of the day, good loot/coins/etc.
Tracking Quest - Daily - Huolon- any kills afterwards, less coins

Noone really knows enough to have an accurate enough knowledge of how the dailies affect the drops.

I also got mine after camping him all day, so it is most definitely not only from the first kill of the day.
Also, another reason you might not want to camp him on alts is because the acheivement, Going to Need A Bigger Bag, lists this as a requirement! If you get it on an alt, you'll have to get in on your main one day too!

This mount drops from the rare elite Cloud Serpent of the same model, Huolon on the Timeless Isle. Huolon's spawn rate is approximately 30-60 minutes, and his spawn point is always the same: above the bridge on the path to Blazing Way.

The mount is not a 100% drop rate, like with most rares that drop mounts, since unlike most other mount-dropping rares, Huolon is not taggable by a single person. Even if you are not in a group, you may hit Huolon and get a chance at his loot.

Although it's been speculated that due to the hidden tracking quests for Huolon and rares like him that you may only have a chance at the mount once a day, there's been proof that this isn't true. Someone on my realm received one on his fourth kill of the day, his thirtieth kill total. However, you will not get any more timeless gear pieces that day, and you will receive less coins than your first kill. I believe your "first kill of the day" only refers to the amount of coins and other useful loot you'll receive. At first I assumed that Timeless gear pieces didn't drop after your first kill ever, but people received Burdens of Eternity from him today. I don't know if it was their first kill ever or not, but it's possible that after your first kill ever, the drop rate might be reduced for Timeless pieces, or eliminated completely. On my first day to the isle, I got a timeless piece off of every rare I killed, and now I rarely do. I do still get pieces from him, but it's not common at all. Most of the time I only get coins. Your chance at the mount, I understand from people's claims, never changes. On my multiple kills of the day, I still received Epoch Stones and Quivering Firestorm Eggs (and of course, Lesser Charms).

As I've said before, the mount does not have a 100% drop rate, due to its group farm-ability. Instead it has a random drop rate. After much time tracking the drop rate, it's revealed that the drop is very low, or the usual mount drop rate of 1%. Man, Blizzard loves that number, don't they?

According to sources, the mount can be traded to other players who were in on the kill. This is great for a few reasons: 1) You, as a collector, can buy it from someone else if they don't want it. 2) You can sell it if you already own one. 3) You can trade it with a friend.
This was hotfixed. The mount is no longer tradeable.

The mount will not drop for everyone in the "group". Everyone's loot is different (though multiple people can get it from one kill).

I've said before, in regards to Alani, where the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante di Rubino comes from, that Blizzard is handling mounts from rare drops with care in this expansion, and this still holds true. This new method of farming mounts from "rare" mobs is much more preferred over the old way (camp for weeks only to have someone steal it from you). I would much rather have a decreased drop rate and constant untaggable farm than I would to camp something and perhaps never see it for months, or have it taken from you. With mounts like these, they are leaning more toward being fair. At least while you're farming your mount, you can stock up on Timeless Coins (currency for yet another gorgeous Cloud Serpent you can purchase). I can see this being continued in future patches and expansions, and I can only hope they don't go back to the old way. I never want to camp an Aeonaxx or Time-Lost Proto-Drake or Poseidus ever again.

As for my opinion on the aesthetics of this mount: It, like the other two Onyx Cloud Serpent mounts, is absolutely gorgeous, and worth farming for.

It took me 73 kills before the reins dropped, so if you do get it your first time, you're lucky!
One really cool thing to note about this Cloud Serpent: If you listen closely, or have your volume up high enough, you can hear the faint fizzy buzz of electricity as the serpent zaps. It's one of those awesome additions to mounts that I love that could possibly go unnoticed (kind of like the soft crackling of flames on Ashes of Al'ar). It can be heard better with headphones on because it's so soft, but it's definitely there! For some odd reason, it's the only one of the four Thundering Serpents that contains this sound effect. I listened for it on Thundering Ruby and August but it's just Onyx that has it (for now).

Dropped for me on my second Huolon kill today.
Killed him yesterday, no luck. Killed him again today, again nothing. Then a few hours after I showed my friend where he spawned, and waited with him until it appeared. Was my 2nd kill this day and it dropped the mount for me. Either I'm very lucky or the tracking first daily kill quest has no impact on the droprate for this mount.

He is soloable just avoid the breath since it will one shot you. You can possibly survive it if you are tank and use cooldowns, but its easy to avoid. Very small frontal cone attack :)

Adding a comment to this since it has not been mentioned. This mount IS TRADEABLE to those who shared the tag. You do not have to be in a group with the person who gets the mount in order to trade.

I found this out and confirmed on my rogue, as an individual who shared the tag with me got the mount drop, but already had the mount decided to see if he could trade it. It was traded successfully, and thus he gave it to me in a wonderful act of kindness.
As of October 2nd, Blizz hotfixed it so that this mount is NO LONGER TRADABLE. I am so sorry for those who missed it. However, I am happy for those who have benefited from the information when it was current. Thank you.

Dropped for me after about 10 total kills. I killed him on my mage 4 times on 9/14/13, then switched to an alt, and got it first kill on alt. After reading about the internal daily quest, figured I give it a try and it worked at least for me.

Needless to say, no one on the isle believed me.

I was able to get this mount to drop last night. I wasn't camping for it or anything, just farming Rep up on Blazing Way on the isle. It seems that he spawns near it and there are multiple good spots to pull him, and despite being in a group the mount was a personal drop.

Not even 2 hours later another member of my party got the mount, again personal loot. So if anyone is worried a party member will need steal it, don't.

Just obtained Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice after 27 kills. I spent a total of 2 days farming/camping out Huolon, and noticed that his spawns were generally between 40-60 minutes. Wasn't much of a hassle, as I could go off and kill other rares for pets/items. Out of all my camping, this was the best mount for me to go for. Only once during my 27 kills did someone link the mount, otherwise I've never heard of anyone getting it (that I know/people who killed Huolon with me).

If your in any sort of raid group, and your killing him...leave the group. For some reason some folks have had issues receiving loot. For those collectors, obtaining this mount counts towards Qualcuno mi porti un carrello. Most of all, for anyone farming/camping this mount, be consistent with your kills and track them. That way you can probably pinpoint when to re-check Blazing Way for him, and most of all...Good luck & happy farming. :)

Unless I was trolled hardcore, the mount is no longer able to be traded. If it ever was...
I am not 100% on this, because it was a stranger, claiming he couldn't trade it, even though we shared the tag.
So yeah, woohoo :/

"Update"~ I was in fact trolled by someone who got it, claiming it wasn't trade able. It is, I was given it by my girlfriend, she's a good luck jinx hax lol.
So yes, still tradeable, 2 hours duration just like people have been saying. After 124 Kills between two servers, it's over lol. GL people with ur black lightning :D

Huolon dropped this mount for me today, and it happened the way most awesome RNG events happen in this game: on my least favorite alt. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy all my characters, but Warriors are in an especially bad place as of late. Thankfully mounts are all useable account-wide now, so this turned out to be a non-issue.

But I do have a real issue: none of my 3 toons have serpent riding, and the onyx eggs have been nerfed into the ground. I assume this is on part due to the fact that the Quivering eggs found on the island can be turned in for 1000 serpent rep. So while I no longer need Huolon, I will still be hanging out with the Zerg for a while. Only now I will be tagging the smaller serpents and bringing them over so everyone else can burn them down and I can get those lovely eggs with ease.

So after 113 kills and allmost catching all spawns in the day, it finally dropped for me. But it happened in a very strange way.
Right before he died i got DC, i logged in as fast as i could and was thinking i couldnt loot. When i looted the mount was in the loottable! I was so happy! It was finally my turn!

I have been camping Huolon for 12-16 hours a day and have not missed a kill. This is my 70th kill and I have yet to see a mount. However, random people who x-realmed in parties with friends got it after 2-3 tries, and even a guildy said they got it on their first try. I have been talking with 2 other people who have been camping this rare alongside me and they have yet to get a drop on mains or alts. Someone on our server has even camped him and killed him over 120 times since live with no luck. This mount is absolutely random and if you're like me and have a sucky RNG, this could take weeks. Prepare yourself...

EDIT: 109 kills and still nothing, yet he dropped FOUR reins for people in one tag today. I am unlucky but will still try. Why, Blizzard, why me?

I can confirm you can purchase the mount from another player who was in on the same Huolon kill, wasn't even grouped with the guy seen him spam general and traded with him 35k for mount, even tho it says BoP it will say it can be traded to other players within 2hrs when in the bag or trade window. So if your tired of camping offer, if you want to make extra gold sell him =D

I was farming Emperor Shaohao rep in a group when one of the group members said "oh Huolon should be spawning any minute now, shall we go and wait?" 4 of us left the raging group leading at our camp spot because we'd apparently "given up our rep farming spot for a stupid rare".

Well I for one am glad I did because the mount dropped for me. No one of course believed me, I had a few hate comments telling me to get a life and stop lying.

It was my 5th/6th kill of Huolon since the patch and my first rare kill of the day on the Timeless Isle.

I can confirm that the mount can no longer be traded to other players who participated in the kill.

Today I killed huolon along with a few other players, one of which managed to loot a second reins. They advertised that they were wanting to sell it. I asked what price, they said 5k, I was happy to pay that and... We were unable to trade. When put into the trade window it went to the "this item will not be traded" area.

Shame but after a bit of searching seems like it was the plan from the get-go... That no timeless isle items were to be tradeable. Not the reins, not the tokens.

Got the mount after approx 10 kills last night. Wasn't in a party at the time. Got a few whispers afterwards offering 5-10k for it, but politely declined.

Also, some are saying you need the cloud serpent flying skill for it to drop, you don't. I haven't got it yet and it dropped for me, now furiously doing the dailies required!

While previously this item could be traded to any player that tapped Huolon for the kill (if you wanted to gift or sell it to someone else in the area), this is no longer possible.

Hotfix on October 2nd: you can no longer trade this to other players. If you've got one, the best thing you can do to help a guilder or friend is to ignore Huolon now (your dps will make a faster kill, sure, but ignoring him means more people have a chance to show up and get their own tag in).

"The following bind-on-pickup items are no longer able to be traded between players: Burden of Eternity, Reins of the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent, Cauterizing Core, Falling Flame, Golden Moss, Giant Purse of Timeless Coins, Ash-Covered Horn, and Elixir of Ancient Knowledge."

Just got my mount 3:00am on Arthas. I didn't think I was going to make it in time as he is usually down in 15 sec, and didn't realize I had gotten the mount. I am never this lucky. This is a great looking mount :D

Well All I can say is RNG is truly a cruel cruel mistress, Been camping him for 4 days now, tagging in on almost every spawn, I'm at 83 kills thus far. My server is pretty High pop so someone ends up with it just about every kill, with that being said people need to learn to SLOW DPS on him, the more that tag the better the odds for everyone, not only for the mount but the gear tokens as well. I'll up date this post as I go along.

Update: got the mount to drop at 104 kills, it was a long grind but well worth the wait, on a side note, I never once got a single burden or gear token off of him in all those kills o.O

I am not sure about one thing: of all my chars only my main - a resto druid - is currently able to ride cloud serpents. Although he is a boomkin on off-spec he's not very good on DPS and another alt of mine (probably my lock) has much better chances in fight. If the lock happened to loot the mount would he be able to use it (even without the cloud serpent riding) and include it in my mount collection for the druid to ride it? Or is he unable to do so and must grind the needed rep by himself to do that?

Dropped today on my 8th or so kill. Was pretty lucky too, only managed to get to Houlon for the last 10% of his health so having this drop was a big surprise. I'm usually extremely unlucky with rare drops like this so it was a very nice reward indeed!

You can actually hear the sound of coursing electricity as you ride this mount. I don't know about the green and blue variant, but I know at least the thundering golden and red cloud serpents do not have the sound effect.

As of 10/26/2013, if the reins drop on a character that does not have Cloud Serpent Riding, but another character on your account does, then the untrained character can still add the mount to your collection (just cannot ride it). Upon looting the reins, a pop-up version of L'Ordine della Serpe delle Nubi appears.

In other words, you don't have to grind Cloud Serpent rep on a lucky alt just to learn the mount if it drops on a character without the skill.

After many many kills, this mount finally dropped for me! My favorite cloud serpent mount thus far, and definitely worth the time to obtain it.

Huolon seems to have a respawn timer of around 30-60 minutes. Also, I have heard that you can only have a chance at the mount once per day, and this is not true. Though I believe the chances for the drop are highest the first time that you kill Huolon, you can still get the mount on any kill afterwards. Mine dropped on the 4th kill of that day.

While you do need Cloud Serpent Riding to use this mount, I don't know if you can learn it or not without having that riding skill on that specific character, even if you have it on another. I think the reason the for the drop rate to be on 1% is because when ever he is killed around 10-25 people are usually killing him, and when he drops it to 1 person out of those 10-25 maybe once every 5 times its equivalent to 1/50-100

I really really hate rng. I have seen a few people get this the first week or 2 it was out, not counting all the ones that said tehy did but could just be trolling. But today I just got my 200th kill and still no luck, but on bright side have gotten almost 100 of the Cloud serpent turn in eggs. Too bad all but 2 alts have Cloud Serpent completed though

So I got this drop Tuesday along with a burden of eternity. (Quite the drops huh!) What I don't understand is that the burden showed up in the guild news but the mount didn't. I know it's a rare drop and I wanted to share my luck with all my guild mates.

One thing I learned when farming for another mount was that trying to obtain a certain mount shouldn't become your main objective. It can destroy any enjoyment you have for the game and actually make it a "hell". I learned this the hard way.

If you're farming a mount, it's better to see it as a bonus or a daily quest you have to complete over time. This way (for example 2 Huolon kills every day) you still have fun with the game and you can advance your character instead of spending your time farming Huolong. Although Timeless Isle has a lot to offer I found it getting boring a bit quick unfortunately. Still a great place though.

If you see it as a bonus then the mount can drop for you when you least expect it. I used this approach for another mount and after three weeks that one dropped, while not having to deal (most of the time) with that gnawing feeling of really wanting it. The Cloud Serpent dropped after 5 kills over three days (I'm grateful but I also feel I don't deserve it as my character can barely survive anything on Timeless Isle, and with some people farming much longer)

Make sure you have learned the Cloud Serpent riding skill from the Order of the Cloud Serpent although you can always learn it afterwards. Wowhead's Order of the Cloud Serpent Guide. It has no effect on the droprate.

After 2 months and exactly 112 kills I finally got this mount to drop for me. Here are some tips that will help you do the same.
-The drop rate is a fixed 1%.
-He can re-spawn as early as 30 minutes, to an hour an a half after he was last killed. Of course on average, Huolon takes about an hour to re-spawn. It's safe to say his re-spawn rate is completely random.

1-(chance it doesn't' drop)^(number of times you kill him) = % chance it will drop for you

for example.
1-(.99)^100= 0.634
0.634 = 63.4%

So if you apply this formula from the first time you kill him, and you kill him 100 times.
There is a 63.4% chance you will see the mount drop.

Of course, the game doesn't remember how many times you've killed him. So if you kill him 58 times, on your 59th kill, it will of course still be a 1% drop rate. The belief that, you've killed him so many times already and it should drop soon is known as Gamblers Fallacy.

Lastly, I used a goblin glider and chilled on the pillar of the bridge where Huolon spawns. I put WoW on my other monitor, created a macro, and assigned a button on my gaming mouse to check for him whenever I pleased.

Good luck, and hopefully hunter's don't drown him in the bottom of the ocean more than a handful of times during your farm!

It is true that a character unlearned in the ways of Cloud Serpent riding may use the reins to add the mount to your spellbook, however, that toon must still have Artisan Riding in order to add the mount.

Unlike many Cloud Serpent mounts, this mount does not require Artisan Riding to learn or ride.
However, it does require the Cloud Serpent riding skill to ride.
Not sure why I got downvoted. Can post an SS for proof, if needed. My undead monk had the mount drop, was able to learn/use it without 280% flying, but I had to go get Cloud Serpent riding first.

Sadly, this will be changing with Warlords. You will no longer be able to fly with this mount in Pandaria if you've not learned flying. :(

I've been farming for this mount for at least 2 months now and still no drop. I want it so bad, it looks so cool!

The only thing I don't like is only having 1 chance per 30 or 40 minutes.

To get a higher chance at the drop, I can now have 3 or 4 chances at the drop every 30 to 40 minutes.

Get the Battle.net launcher application and put your details in so that you can log into your character screen in only one click (This is the official battle.net application).
Get all of your lvl 90 characters to Huolon's spawn point
Camp Huolon until he spawns, when he does quickly tag him with an instant cast spell and close your WoW application (esc<exit now, alt+F4, Task Manager)
Click "Play Now" under the WoW tab in the Battle.net Launcher and you will be brought to your character select screen, select your next 90 and log in
Repeat this as many times as you can before Huolon dies or you run out of lvl 90 characters

This method is currently working in 5.4. Using it I can tag Huolon about 3 times before he dies meaning I have 3 characters able to loot him for a chance at the mount each. If there aren't many people and he takes ages you may be able to squeeze 4 or maybe even 5 if you have the lvl 90's for it.

This method works great for those of us who have authenticators as the Battle.net launcher will save your credentials and will not need to authenticate you when you go online, meaning you can log in extremely quickly.

Since the mount is account bound it doesn't matter who loots it, and as long as you have Cloud Serpent Flying on one of your characters on your account, you will be able to learn it.

Got on after a long break from WoW huolon spawns, I run up and kill it and bam mount :D

Huolon is easily soloable for melee. He has 2 abilities.

1 is Lightning Breath... a cone attack that does huge damage but the cone does not seem to be wide angle and also he does not follow his target while he's casting it. As soon as he starts casting it I just move a few steps to the side.

2 is Fire Blossom (I think it's name is...) which projects a lightning pool on random people. Well, not that random if you're soloing him. Just move away from it before it lands on the ground.

It's basically the same abilities as the Crimsonscale Firestorms do. Those serpents that are flying all over the isle. Huolon just has more HP and does more damage. So practice dodging the abilities from the Crimsonscales and then go for Huolon.

P.S. Chi-Ji buff = Win

I got this mount the first time I killed it and then got it again the second time I killed it though on a different character. I then got it a third time on yet another character though the third time it was a couple of months later. Strange but I guess I was lucky? One is enough though haha.

Dropped for me last night. Couldn't believe it! Here is some tips to maximize your attempts at this mount.

1.Don't log out in a city. I always logged out at Huolon's spawn point so when I logged in the first thing I did was attempt a kill.

2.Don't idle in cities! If you are waiting for a queue to pop why not be productive? I always stayed at Huolon's spawn area between queues so I could get attempts in before queues started.

3.Use your friends as help. I actually got the mount on a different server thanks to friends inviting me to their realms when their timer was about to expire for his spawn.

4.Get creative. I was in a flex raid last night and we lost a tank. We were waiting for a tank to come so I decided to teleport out of SoO and managed to get a quick kill because I started my queue where he spawned. That kill happened to be the one that dropped the mount for me.

5.Farm other things while you wait. I have been in the process of farming shado-pan rep to get the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi d'Onice incase I never got the huolon version. This changed things up a bit and kept me busy in between isle visits. I still plan on finishing out the rep grind just to get the mount. I also dropped 22k the night before for the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante di Rubino and now I am grinding the august celestials rep to finish that.

6.Don't give up. This should be proof that the mount DOES drop and your turn is next. It's only a matter of time before you get yours.

I "farmed" for this more than a dozen times, this week I Killed Huo with my blood elf Paladin every day quite a few times with no luck. Then on Friday morning I logged onto my Human Paladin, Huo was up so I ran to him and helped killed him and guess what? it dropped! No special tricks, just random chance. And with my headphones on, if you listen closely you can not only hear the crackling lightning but a bit of thunder to!

I got mine today shortly after 4 am on the Earthen Ring/ Darkmoon Faire server with a fair amount of people joining in on downing Huolon. The weird thing I got it on an alt that doesn't have Cloud Serpent riding, so I had to log over on an alt to look at the pretty mount.

Just got this baby! Coolest mount in the game. Here is a couple comments I would offer.

1. Camp at the graveyard just across the bridge where Houlon spawns and engage there. If you die, easy to just sit there when Horde/Alliance camps you. Just resurrect super quick, tag Houlon, and fight away.

2. Use ranged if you got it. I was dying all the time with my warrior. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I had a WAY easier time on hunter. Just strafe in circles around Houlon, never get blasted.

3. Remember you only have to hit him once to tag. There were multiple times I would log on, people were already engaging Houlon, I ran over and hit him once, and looted the body.

4. Don't give up!

The RNG on this guy can be rough, currently at 122 kills and 42 eggs.

If you are seriously bored, see if you can get on top of the crumbling tower (yes you can get to the very top).
Few things to note:
1. People kite up adds to swipe afk people, if you're on the tower you can't be killed quite so easily, coiners included
2. You will look like a boss when everyone keeps falling off of the side and you /flex up there

Huolon spawned around 4:00 pm - 4:30pm on Echo Isles, and it's brother realms. I was heading to the crane statue when he was being killed. I decided to jump in, first time EVER killing this beast. I got lucky and won the mount.

Considering I don't farm it, I was ecstatic. I enjoy it.

For those who don't want to bother farming for this mount, I just saw it for the first time ever on the Black Market Auction House in Draenor. I didn't even know it could appear on there as I hadn't seen any reports or comments that it was possible, so obviously this is a new addition in WoD.

It was on a price of 31,000g when I saw it, so it's possible it starts around the standard 20,000g for mounts.

I've always wanted a cloud serpent since I didn't get any during MoP and I got very lucky with this mount dropping on the first day I started to farm for it on my 5th kill. Other than dumb luck, here are some tips that I learned while trying to get this mount.

1. He does not spawn on top of the bridge anymore and spawns on ground level in the grass area after the bridge.

2. To get more kills than the 30-60 minute spawn time, after you kill it once on your realm, join a random custom party using the LFG feature to go to a different realm (you can even download an addon called OQueue which makes this easier). Then wait for at least 30 minutes on that realm for Huolon to spawn, if he doesn't, go back to your original realm and wait. Rinse and repeat.

3. Some useful addons are NPC_Scan and Silver dragon to help you keep track of the spawn timer and kills.

4. Good luck and don't give up!

Man did this mount take forever to drop . I probably killed him around 150 times. Today, 1st kill of the day in my gamon disguise, it finally dropped. And the whole time I was thinking this is just a waste of time because it never drops and then it dropped.

Looks like I'm a lucky SOB.

I happened through Huolon's spawn point on my way to farm the Blizzard Stone. Saw a few guys hanging out by the ruins so I stopped and asked what's up. Mere seconds later, Huolon popped and we all got a lick in. No drop. Continued on my way to find the Blazebound Chanter, got bored, came back through just in time for Huolon to spawn. Second and final kill, the mount drops.

Best way to get is using the addon Cross Realm Assist and just chill with a stealthman 54. Very cheap of AH and stops crowds of opposing faction members from seeing/ killing you.

I got this mount after killing it on my first go.

I was farming for the Ruby Droplet when I saw Huolon spawn near the Ruby Droplet spawn area. Took a Goblin Glider down and killed him. I must admit, I was a tad salty that the Ruby Droplet wasn't dropping for me. So I took out my frustration on Huolon. In the end, it was worth the farm. But got something else entirely.

Just got this today after, I dunno, 50some(?) kills. I have no real advice other than this-

Don't let people distract you with the target dummy toy or the turnip or with duels or chat or whatever. When it spawns it goes down fast, like fraction of a second in big groups, that you will end up missing your tag because A: you're spamming your keybind into chat window, toy/mount search; or B: it will drop before you can mouse cursor over the spell.

Happened to me a few times and I only had myself to blame for being distracted. I even heard a few people rage over auto-targeting the combat dummies instead of Houlon and missing their chance.

So avoid the distractions and focus on your tag.

Just got this mount after 40 kills. I know others have mentioned it, but it is fairly important to keep in mind. Make a macro to target and attack Huolon so you can bypass all of the annoying dummies and other things that might make you miss tagging it. I would also suggest grouping up with people if there are a lot of people in since Huolon goes down within 1-3 seconds usually.... If a group member tags it, you still get credit :D

Took me about 140 kills during a week of pretty intense grinding.

I found the respawn rate was pretty erratic, my shortest being 31mins and my longest being about 1hr 25mins.

I will say though that with people being 110 now and Legion about this mob goes down very quickly, its easy to miss a tag if you're not paying attention which makes the wide spawn time range quite frustrating, that said the farm is totally worth it, gorgeous mount :)

Got this today on what Rarity said was my 61st kill. Was definitely more than that as there were more than a few times I couldn't loot the corpse due to my RDP session now allowing me to move when using my phone. Either way, wasn't too intense and glad it's over.

On a positive note, also got the Astral Cloud Serpent last night on my 33rd kill of Elegon, so was a good two days!

On a negative note, I'm on 494 kills of Skadi right now and still haven't gotten the GD Blue Proto.... :(

Got it after 15 runs on 5 chars. First time I have been lucky mount farming. I did it by grouping so everyone gets a shot if only one tags Huolon. Also, I tagged with Havoc which does not do damage, to give others a chance to tag it also. On my hunter I used CounterShot.

I started to farm Going To Need A Bigger Bag with one friend.
We were going to the last 4 items and Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice was one of them...

I got it after 115 trys and my friend after 191 trys (but she began to farm it some days before and stopped again).

This is how we done it

(First roughly 30 kills) I killed Huolon on my rp char on warmode. I camped it first time I joined that day till he spawned, then I relogged every 30 mins after kill.
Then my friend joined to the campgroup and we hopped around a lot of realms to find Huolon. Sadly, we found mostly only 2-4 Huolon, so we camped these ones. (We hopped around 6 realms in total.)
Through the fact that Huolon has a respawntimer with 30 - 60 min, we had some "trouble" to camp every realm we had the killtime, but we managed it somehow with realmhopping.

And this we done like 10 days to get Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice.

During the time, that we had sometime till Huolon respawns, we farmed other stuff like Granchio Spinartiglio or Cucciolo di Serpente della Morte, so use your time efficiently ! :)

So yea... Some of my guildmembers got it like after 10 trys and some never... It depends how lucky you are.

Some facts I can prove

Huolon has a respawntime from 30 till 60 minutes. (We had some that instantly spawned with 30 minutes and we had some that took 59 minutes and 50 seconds, so yea...)
Sometime Huolon isn't attackable, that seems to be a bug, you only have to wait. (He have to fly around one circle till you can attack him and don't move during this time)
Huolon's corpse lays sometimes a long time there...
Sometimes,Huolon seems to get killed, right infront of you if you ran to that zone where he flys around. But mostly it isn't that case. He only spawns as a corpse till he is despawned.

So yea... Good luck at hunting him!

This used to be a high drop chance back in MoP. I would gather a 20% drop chance or higher just by how many people I saw get it back in the day. Never got it.....

Farm the rest of my rep for the heavenly golden cloud serpent, get it in 2 kills after they nerf the drop chance to 1%....go figure, lol.

Just a quick comment here that trial characters CANNOT loot Huolon any longer. The powers that be at Blizzard changed that along with not being able to mount Aeo, or loot TLPD or loot Poisideus.

Dropped after 55 kills.

I used Spy (addon), Rare Scanner (addon), World Boss Timers (addon), NasconDinamo 54, and a Huolon target/attack macro.

-Spy will alert you if any player of the opposing faction is nearby or uses stealth.
-Stealthman 54 keeps you hidden.
-Rare Scanner immediately alerts you when Huolon spawns (spawn location is near every 30-60mins after he's killed.)
-The macro immediately targets and cast Lightning Bolt at Huolon (obviously you'd have to use a class specific ranged attack if you're not a shaman).
-World Boss Timers help keep track of Huolon so you don't miss the next spawn.

Most of the time camping was easy because my faction dominates the server. Sometimes though, the other faction would be grouped up at the spawn location. Using Stealthman 54 I was able to swipe tags from the opposing faction several times. They never saw me till it was too late ;)

Side note: Oddly enough, a small percentage of the people I saw at the spawn location already had the mount and were there to grief by stealing tags. Strange behavior. Camp with a group when possible. Fortunately, I got a bit of revenge because one of my griefers was there when I looted the mount in front of them. They emoted a gz. ;)

It dropped for me this saturday!

I created a char on a low pop realm, according to google the lowest pop is a german realm called Tichondrius. I think way too many mount farmers pick RP, this one i Normal yet it worked instantly due to the extremly low number of players.

I always wanted this mount since MOP, on Stormscale I couldn`t even kill him once because of so many people camping in groups. On my first day, I managed to get 10 kills and I even missed him once when I logged in (he died infront of me lol). The next day I woke up and started logging in every 30 mins and I even met som real firendly horde players. I manged to miss him twice again, he died infornt of me both of the the times and a lucky player even got the mount on that second miss. She had 240 something kills so she deserved it! Anyway I continued the process and sure enough on the 12th attempt it dropped! I was ready to park that little mage gnome there for a month so I`m extremly happy it worked since I boosted my char to 110 only to use him as a farmer.

The only addon I used was "WorldBosses Timer", I really recommend you use this it will make your life easier. Also something I noticed was the spawn timer can sound confusing to some in the comments. The minimum is 30 mins, but after those 30 mins it can be anywhere between 30 and 60. Sometimes he spawned after 30 mins, other times he showed up after 43 mins. I`m so greatful for all the useful comments that helped me achieve this I hope my post will inspire you to get yours!

Sidenote: These two past weeks have been incredible, besides Thundering Onyx Serpant Cloud I managed to loot Clutch of Ju-Kin and Spawn of Horridon last week on two different char... On the same week! I`m not going to mention how many tries out of respect to those who have been farming them for years because I`m still farming Invincible lol.... Also I finally managed to get my first vicious mount, Did the Heavenly Crimson with my girl and killed two rares in dreanor who drop mounts and also... TIME-LOST PROTO DRAKE by random luck... A guy found him and wanted to sell a group invite but couldn`t find any bueyrs since it was so late and tradechat was dead so I managed to get a spot for 250k. This acually happend last night! And this morning since my luck has been insane I decied to try and find a portal for the Voidtalon of the Dark Star, and sure enough after two hours of flying with 4 newly created class trials on 4 different low pop servers I found one and bagged the beautiful purple birdie! All I want now is Heavenly Onyx, Invincible, Infinite Timereaver and I can retire for good! :P

Just a plain and simple info and recap of all these comments...

#1. - Spawns every 30 to 60 minutes.
#2. - Can be killed and looted by the very same character unlimited times/day. (so you don't need all your chars to farm this one)
#3.1 - It IS one-shot kill! So make sure to make a group (5 max-not raid group), each time you farm Huolon!
#3.2 - It can be looted (if in a group) by all members of the group, even though just one of them actually hit it! (therefor, one more reason to be in a group)
#4. - Eventually you could also make a macro to one-click target and hit him, as this one:
/target Huolon
/cast "Some-Instant-Spell"

That's pretty much it about him. The rest is patience, hope and a ton of luck, which i wish you all! Happy farming lads!

After 516 kills, I have noticed a few things from my own experience and people I've seen on the Isle:

- There is a weird phasing issue going on, which may lead to you finding Huolon as soon as 20 minutes after the time of death. However, the max still appears to be 60 minutes with an average of 45 minutes.

- Trial characters do sometimes NOT get loot, which somewhat confirms they won't be able to loot the mount as others previously have confirmed. They might still be able to loot other rares.

- I recommend the addons "WorldBossTimers" to track the timer and "Rarity" to track kills. You can use the addon "Spy" as well if you want to know if anyone is nearby

- Make a macro an instant cast and bind the key to a mouse button (I used mouse wheel). Mine is written like this, so it can be used across my 2 classes:
/Target Huolon
/Cast Moonfire
/Cast Throw Glaive

Tip: As a DH you are able to speak in "Demonic" language, allowing you to speak to an opposing factions DH. This might be useful if you're bored or confirm that you won't one-shot it, allowing them to tag it too (if you have War Mode Off)

Found an extremely busted way to farm this mount, I was averaging 20-30 kills a day, killing it 108 times over the timespan of 4 days when it finally dropped. Here's how

Bring a hunter between level 30-49 with CHROMIETIME active to timeless isle (Due this being seperated from normal servers the rare will almost always be up and very rarely camped, even if people are camping it it will take some time to take it down giving enough time for everyone to tag it.)
I wait at the start of the bridge next to his usual spawn point and misdirect threat to my pet/feign death whenever i generate too much (Right now in the pre patch hunter pets take literally ZERO damage from rares) Making this an afk kill aslong you don't get aggro
I was doing this on 4 characters: 2 with wm off and 2 with wm on. 2 different servers
You can also use this method to tame it if you're just looking for that
NOTE: if you don't want to solo it you can invite a max level friend and party sync with him, this will make you transfer him into your shard.

Make good use of this before too much people discover it and it gets flooded like the normal shards

So this just dropped for me today 11/2/2020 0609 PDT.

My Hunter just dinged 50 after being untouched since Cata and my mage had gotten exalted with the cloud serpent guys a few days ago in anticipation of taming these lovely beasts. I was at the spawn for maybe 2 min and was offered a group. I was kinda nauseous at the time (it happens to me often enough before 1pm (male)) and was gonna try (read: fail) at a tame, then attempt to sleep off the urge to vomit. Huolon spawned and i was spamming tame but he got destroyed. I looted and there was the mount... I was so dumbfounded that I immediately had to go and blow chunks. A silver lining and a WoW memory that will last a lifetime

First time I got a tag on the mob, first kill, drop first time. I have the Rarity screenshot proof : )

finally got this sucker. I was on the island with my priest farming enough eggs to get my hunter the book to tame serpents. Finished with that and decided what the heck Ill give huolon a shot since it had been a while. There was probably a good 30+ plus horde and a few alliance gathered around. I asked for a group and I guess they were full or didnt want me in lol. So i set up a macro with /target huolon /cast pain dot and went to town pressing it for a good 20-30 minutes or so. Ended up getting the tag and the mount! Went ahead and did a drive by on the horde with the serpent after before hearthing out. Probably took me a good 50-60 kills, glad I dont have to think about huolon anymore, such a hassle competing for the tag.

Can you tell me at what level is a character eligible to loot the mount from Huolon. The item itself requires level 35 to learn, BUT can I loot it at a lower level?

Just farmed the mount on my lvl 50 Rogue War Mode On. I made a macro so I could tag the rare pretty fast

I found the mount after 21 attempts. AFTER you kill it, it will take between 1 and 30 minutes to respawn so, kill it, log out and do something else. Come back when 30 minutes have passed and wait for it to spawn. Let me share the respawn times I've tracked so you can take it as a reference. Good luck on your mount farming.

So im kind of surprised and dissapointed by the amount of people farming this the "standard" way which involves a whole lot of waiting with very few loots per hour if any.

As others have said the trick here is to party sync with other low level characters in different realms, that way you get to access tons of realms with nobody on them and so Huolon is always up. Now its not that simple as you will be scaled down to level 50 and Hulon will scale up to 50 as well and due to the overturned scaling on timeless isle that means he will one shot you if he hits you. Luckily there is a way to bypass that and that is to stand right on top of him when you pull him, that will make him stay very high up on the air and not come down to you which means his main skill wont hit you and he wont cast out the storms either. That doesnt work on every spot though you need to find spots where hes high up when you pull him but near the bridge at around 67 60 seemed fine so i didnt look for many other spots. Now im not sure exactly why it is that he doesnt hit you is i assume it's just due to the range, thing is if you're away from him he will try to follow you while coming down and then he will kill you. It's still possible to fight him normally but you gotta keep moving constantly otherwise his channeling ability will one shot you which makes it quite a stressful fight so it's not worth it

As horde i used a couple extra trial accounts and made 14 Zandalari troll alts, theyre ideal since they start at level 10 very close to an Orgrimmar portal that takes you right to Chromie where you start chromie time for pandaria. Next step is taking them there, I took the first two myself (1 from each account) in a 2 person mount and then since I had 3 characters there i could summon them with a warlock stone. Parked all of em behind the wall at around 68 62 so that they're safe. It's important that they're there so that you can quickly log in and check with a macro if Huolon is up.
I made three macros on my main with the invites command for all the 14 alts that way i would just click all 3 of em and be sure id get an invite on the appropriate alt. I spread the alts as much as i could on all type of servers, RP, new players, Brazilian, South america, Oceania etc etc but not sure if thats relevant. Sometimes two alts would see each other but sometimes they wouldnt im not sure exactly how the servers merge

With this method i could do 20-30 kills in a few hours so a few days later I've finally got it.

I never noticed this until now, but it seems that all of the Serpent mounts with lightning on them --and ONLY those with lightning on them-- actually have little wisps of Eastern-style clouds coming out of their nostrils when the mount is moving forward!

I noticed while appreciating my brand-new Serpe da Guerra dei Rajani, so I checked for the nostril clouds on Serpe delle Nubi Tonante di Rubino and she had it too! But when I checked on my only other serpent mount, Yu'lei, Figlia della Giada, I saw that she didn't have the nostril clouds. So, I think it's just the ones with lightning.

Farmed this over a couple of weeks with minimal effort. I had characters on four different RP servers with war mode on. Just by logging into those characters around every hour or so, huolon was up most of the time and i got plenty of kills in on him with little competition.

As a side note, huolon drops lesser charms of good fortune which you can exchange for elder charms to get bonus rolls on world boss mounts like sha of anger.

It dropped for me after 94 tries and three days of farming him on Chromie time.

Here's how I'd recommend it:

have a level 30-49 ranged character and get them on Chromie time by talking to her in SW/OG and selecting an expac - which expac doesn't matter, you don't have to choose Pandaria necessarily. The reason you don't want to do this below level 30 is that getting to the Timeless Isle without flying will be a hassle, except when you have another account or friend that can get you there with a two person mount like the sand drake. Apart from that however, the mobs on the Timeless Isle do not scale under level 30 - they will only scale up (You can still kill and loot him on a lower level though)

Due to there being very scarse competition, if there's any at all, Huolon will most likely fly around, which was a sight I have never seen before as he's usually killed within a blink of an eye. The problem you'll now have to deal with is that he's a rare plus elite mob on your level who will one-shot you by any of his abilities, but there's a method of pulling him from the right angle when he's right above you. That way he won't come down to auto-attack you (which is why you want to be ranged), he won't cast the storm piles on the ground - he will only cast his lightning breath non-stop which will not hit you if pulled from the right angle. Where you pull him technically doesn't matter, but you should pull him where no other mobs will aggro you - I used 66.1/61.0 for that matter, as it was also easy to orientate with the pillar in front of me. At that spot, I usually waited for my spells to be in range, count to two, and then attacked him with an instant ability. It's kind of hard to explain, and you'll most likely die a few times before you know what to do, but eventually you'll get how to pull him. From that spot, if you survive the first cast of lightning breath, you are safe to just attack him until he's dead, which depending on the strength of your character should take 3 to 5 minutes.

The best use of this tactic is to have several characters from 30-49 with Chromie time on different layers - that means different CRZ (cross-realm zones), so realms, that do not share the same zone with other realms. RP servers are a good choice as they don't share a zone with any other realm, but you can do this on any PvE/PvP realm just as well. I personally did this on three characters - one on EU-Sen'Jin, one on EU-Thrall (Sen'jin and Thrall are in one CRZ, but I bypassed that by putting one on warmode and the other not) and the other one on EU-Antonidas (was a mage, so I put HS to Timeless Isle and ported to Stormwind after each kill to turn wm on/off). Through this method I killed Huolon 4 times through the span of his respawn time (roughly 30-70 minutes). In the downtime I just did something else, either in the game or outside of it. If you have a bunch of characters across different CRZ between 30-49, you can obviously get in even more kills than I did.

As you can see, you still need to put some thought and effort into this farming method, but atleast you won't idle around - just farm him whenever you want and he'll most likely be up - good luck! :)

Reading comments where people got him in less than 100 kills made me lose my faith with my luck. I got mine with ~150 kills in Chromie Time, not even counting kills before ChTime. I farmed in on a few realms with Warmode On and Warmode Off. I have even invited my 60 level friend to see who has better luck - him, who has never farmed it and me. Obviously, he got it after just 2 kills. But thankfully same day i have gotten it on my 150 kill on my 39 level Priest.

Some tips with getting this mount in Chromie Time where he is always up.
1. Use ranged class - it's easier to hit and kill Houlon. Classes with invisible like Druid with prow and Hunter with Camouflage are pretty nice!
2. All characters between 30 - 47 level can safely access Chromie Time Timeless Isle, but only characters from level 35 can learn the mount after it drops. And its easier to get there with flying mount.
3. You can farm it on same realm with character that turned Warmode On and Warmode Off, there are different instances and once you kill him on warmode off he can be still up on warmode on.
4. There are safe spots mentioned in previous comments where drake can't get to you, but You can still damage him e.g on a top of the small tower. You can find them also in Youtube with guides how to jump over there. Remember if you joining combat when someone else attacked him first, stand on this person because you will trigger special attack when he throws orbs around, and You might both wipe and die.
I have been waited once he was exactly flying over my head and then shooted him, usually he wasn't able to land and hit me when i was under.
5. You can also ask 60 lvl friends for a little help and use Party Sync Trick.

In case you are wondering, they've changed the loot option to once per day (used to be unlimited). Get yourselves a couple of 30lvl alts, ask chromie for pandaria timeline and park them on that damn spawnpoint. GL

125 tries on rp server with swaping on and off warmod every hour, so i did get 2 kills per hour, sometimes it got stolen on wm off. Took me about 4 days and my friend got on 80 tries same method some days before me. Only 1 char.

Last week I finally managed to add this mount to my collection.
With working from home being a permanent change inside my company, I managed to kill him 10-12 times per day. I have 2 accounts so I could double the times I looted the rare, and got the mount after 86 = 172 kills. I did this over the course of 2 weeks, and of course looted him multiple times a day. This is possible with all rares on the Timeless Isle.

Avoid raid groups; only the party within the raid, from who the the tag on the rare came (dies instantly), can loot.

Kill 227 and still nada, what a waste of time. In case you are here for timer info, Huolon timer is on a 30min cooldown, and the timer is 0-30mins, so the earliest he will spawn after a kill is 30mins and the latest is 1hr. There is no daily/weekly lockout for loot, so you can kill him as many times as you want for the mount, no limit.

I started to farm this mount in 21/03/2022 monday, and today, 29/03/2022 I finally got it, after 160 attempts, before I went to sleep I said: I'll make another try, let's see if he's there, and indeed, he was there and he dropped the mount! Here's the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/pyfQ7uN

I farmed it using Chromie and the normal way, with Chromie u're almost guaranteed that Huolon is there, since I was able to farm it in one of the most popular realms of EU, Silvermoon (if not the most popular one), the only bad thing is that you kill him really slow and you need a ranged class to cheese him. I personally prefer to farm it the normal way, since my main server (Sanguino, Spanish server) is not that popular and im almost guaranteed that Huolon is there waiting for me to kill him.

The only thing I can recommend ya'all is to keep the grind, it will eventually drop, happy hunting!

I finally buckled down and tried farming for this mount

Dropped for me yesterday on kill 108

Did it casually over 3 days, using 2 accounts I created class trials on each of the RP shards. One with war mode on and one with it off
I cycled through the servers and inviting my main using the legacy raid group finder
Killed it on my main and just used the class trial to get my main on to the RP shard
Worked pretty well.

Mount dropped for me after 52 attempts over the course of about 4-5 days. The key for me was farming on a low-pop RP realm where I already had a few toons - it was easy enough to log on in the morning and have Huolon pop immediately, then log off for awhile so the zone resets. If I came back after 15 min and it hadn't reset, I'd wait another 15 for the spawn window to open and got several kills (many for which I was the only one there) each day until it finally dropped. I only came across two other players also farming Huolon, and 2 out of 3 of us got him. We also were able to farm rep and other toy/pet drops in between spawns.

On my high-pop PvE realm, there were still dozens of people waiting around and it was sometimes hard to get a tag.

Have come to the conclusion that I must be one of the luckiest players out there. After reading comments here and looking at the drop rate etc (a few months ago now), I then went onto receiving the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent mount on my FIRST EVER ATTEMPT! To the dismay of my BF lol - still no mount on his end, Huolon is the ultimate enemy xD

I'd love to know what the odds of this are, and if anyone else here has also been as lucky to have this mount drop first time!

Finally had Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice drop today after 400+ attempts!

The pain is finally over. A few tips for anyone still farming Huolon (or are wanting to).

Find or make a group. Grouping up with others make this grind a lot easier, more chance of getting a tag and less competition between players in the area also farming. There is nothing worse than waiting an hour for a spawn and not getting a tag!
Join the WoW Collectors discord, its great for finding others farming Huolon and you can swap between each realm, meaning more kills within a shorter period. Although this might be a bit more difficult at the present due to DF release and people busy with new content.
Do a set amount of kills a day. If you are on a large number of attempts (as I was) you are going to feel like giving up, but this really helped me keep consistent and resulted in me getting my mount eventually. I did two kills a day, the mount dropped on my first attempt of the day. Use a macro (I Cannot Stress This Enough!) - A simple target and cast macro makes a huge difference. Huolon has no damage buffer like the world bosses and dies within one hit, spamming your macro as soon as your rarescanner pings is the way to go! Class trials on RP realms are not worth the hassle (IMO), many are now busy with people doing the exact same thing. I found this method not worth the time.
And finally, as much as this farm can be daunting - especially when hitting those larger numbers, don't let others tempt you into using mouse recorders or scripts! People will report you and you could lose your account. It's not worth it.

Qualcuno mi porti un carrello, this was the hardest achievement in Mists of Pandaria.
I got this on the last day of the expansion: 14 December in 2011.
For this achievement I've spend a total of 4 mounths playing 4 hours a day.
This achievement is hardest cause do you need loot rare items from rare mobs.
Even the rares having 30 to 60 minutes spawn the problem here is cause those rares has low hp and die fast, making you lose then.

Another factor that make this achievement hard, is because the items needed has low drop chance.
For example the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice, this mount has 0.9% drop chance, and was my last item for conclud the achievement.
I've spend a total of 400 trys to loot this mount.

My strategy for don't lose my mind while doing this insane grind was watching one piece while the Huolon doesnt spawn.
The addon called Rare Coordinator was great to track the rare spawn times, but I guess it's doesnt work on Dragonflight, cause you need other players to tracking with you.

Don't forget to use move speed items and teleport to reach rares faster.

I wanted to add my suggestions to this farm. I am neck deep in the middle of it approaching 100 kills in three days. Wait? How is that possible?

Like most mount farming in this game it’s not all that difficult once you decide that you actually want to really commit and do it. I have everything from the camel mount, timelost proto, to aeonaxx. If you decide to hunt them here or there it can be very daunting. Or you can get serious and put some strategies to work.

If you don’t know what shards are in the game I suggest you research them, and understand how the mechanics work. They can work to your benefit. I am grouped up with another person. We each have trial accounts on RP realms, and they have a horde character in war mode on an RP realm. Huolon generates every single time the realm does. This can be to your advantage.

If someone does not stay in a zone the zone despawns. Then when you log back in you create the zone therefor create Huolon. On RP servers that are low pop there is almost nobody on old content. So invite your friend using your trial account from the zone, have them invite you and Huolon will be there. Do this on multiple toons and you can down him as many times as you have toons every 15 minutes. The trial account itself cannot loot but it is just there to generate the shard. You can do this for many farming things. Do this and enjoy your Huolon without weeks, months, or years.

Since noone seems to have mentioned it, seems like sometime between the release of Dragonflight (Patch 10.0.0) and Embers of Neltharion (Patch 10.1) they changed the way Huolon works. Now when he spawns you cannot one shot him anymore, instead he is invulnerable to damage for a couplde of seconds just like the four Pandaria world bosses. You can also share a kill with the opposite faction.

This makes farming this mount much easier since you won't have to compete with other players for the kill.

I think I am going for record here... During Pandaria expansion I made a little over 600 kills with no luck, then made a break. I back in Shadowlands and I was killing Huolon in chromie time. I made additional 100+ kills this way. Now after the change in 10.1 I'm killing him normally for couple of hours a day. Currently I'm sitting on 880 kills. I will be updating this post...

Edit: 955 kills and still counting...

Edit: It dropped! 1037 kills. This is not 100% accurate, coz I got some issues with rarity data through all those years. But I guess the offset is like +/- 10 kills. Pain is over... :D

DRAGONFLIGHT PATCH 10.1.5

**Haven't seen a lot of people farm this in Dragonflight even though its much much easier to get now.
After 234 attempts, I finally got her Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice.

A couple things I have come to understand while farming this beautiful mount:
1) If you are on an empty shard logging out of your character for 20 minutes (no longer 15 minutes as commenters have stated below) and logging back in will reset the shard. This is a method viable only if you are on a server that has no players competing against you on the isle (usually RP servers); in other words, a dead server.
**If someone logs in or flies to the isle/zones in during the 20 minutes you are logged out, the timer (20 minutes) will reset. Because of the unpredictability of this method I recommend using the AddOn 'NPCTime'. This AddOn is good for checking if someone zoned in, you can make sure this works by killing a nearby mob, and as it respawns its NPC timer will be reset just like Huolons resets when you kill her.
2) Another method used to farm this mount, is through going AFK. Huolons base respawn timer is 30 minutes to 1 hour. For this method having the AddOn 'RareScanner' or another AddOn that alerts the user to a rare spawn is helpful. I used this method when resetting couldn't work when another person was farming Huolon too. This is also good if you want to farm this and not think, while watching something like Netflix.
3) Warmode makes this so much easier, especially on an RP server.
4) Having alts on multiple RP servers allows you to get multiple kills every 20 minutes, however I got my mount by killing her on 1 character every 20 minutes.
5) You can trade this mount now, to anyone in your party. Not sure if this also means you can trade it to all who are eligible like other pieces of loot.
6) This mount seems to be on a lower drop chance than what WoWHead states. I would guess around 0.7 or 0.6 . I don't believe with the amount of people I have talked to, who have gotten this at over 100 attempts, that it would be even close to 1%. Most of the statistics were also taken during MOP, which constantly had groups farming this mount.
7) Like many other people have stated before me, Huolon now has a small absorb shield on her, meaning she cannot be 1 shot. This change also means multiple people can tag this boss, even opposite factions. The absorb shield seem to take less time to kill her (or break the absorb shield) than other open-world bosses like Sha of Anger Sha della Rabbia. I suspect this is from Blizzard not anticipating the amount of people farming the mount on high-pop servers, and by that logic, making the absorb shield not last as long as other world bosses.

Notes:
**I will always recommend the AddOn 'Rarity'. This AddOn allows the user to track their attempts on anything from mounts to pets. Unfortunately I have found this AddOn can cause issues for PC's with older CPU's. To combat this issue, you should almost always turn off rarity's minimap button. This button causes momentary freezing. The reason for this I have found, is because it uploads so much data when sending you a list of the mounts you have not farmed/are farming currently. There aren't many time you will need this list, so in these cases after removing its minimap button you can find the settings and list in your Options tab under AddOns.
**As of 10.1.5 I highly recommend trying for this mount now. In Warmode, on an RP server. As I was farming for (around) half a month, I only observed a handful of people farming with me, and most did not stay for more than 2-4 hours.
**All the AddOns mentioned above are just recommendations and aren't required to farm this mount. I personally believe it makes this grind easier, but they aren't necessary. Use whatever method or tools that you feel comfortable with and works for your setup (please make sure it aligns with WoW's TOS).

Finding friends on the isle camping with me really helped my sanity and my determination. I hope people find as nice of players as I did. Thank you to all the wonderful people I met and helped me along the way :)

It took me 143 attempts until it finally dropped.
I cannot stress enough how great RP servers are for grinds like these. You wouldnt believe how often the shard resets even during the busiest times(!) No need to camp and wait, just log in every 20-30 minutes with your army of alts and see if its up. I had 7 characters across 4 rp servers (wm on and off) and managed to kill Huolon a dozens of time throughout the day. Someone was wondering if the drop is limited to the first kill of the day and I can confirm it is not! The mount dropped for me on the 36th kill of the day and the 5th of that specific character.

I got it on my 110th kill which means the RNG was "neutral" to me - it took exactly as many tries as it was supposed to.

Also - if someone in your group gets the reins and wants to trade them to you, they can't... You can't trade this item to anyone in your group, which is extremely stupid. Yes, that person had the mount.

OK, so let me get one point across.
This is a horrible design by Blizzard - super low drop chance on a rare that is constantly camped and sniped.
Even with moderate respawn timers - trying to do it solo on your own on 1 character would be insane - or super lucky if you get it within 10 kills.

I got it on my 110th kill. If I tried solo on 1 char it'd take me 31h of play non stop. That's insane, horrible and just plain bad design. It's not challenging - it's boring and exhausting.

Do you know how you really should do with this mount? Either solo or with help of a "friend" - multiple characters on the most dead servers in your region, WM ON (less people) - any RP servers, especially servers with lower langauge groups (e.g. French or German servers in EU). These can spawn Huolon reliably every 15-17 minutes. You can get kill by kill.

It's a horrible and boring approach but it's the only SANE approach there is - trying to do it the "fair and honest" way is the best way to lose your mind. My advice is - don't.
I got 110 kills in 24 hours but not non-stop play, of course.

My further advice - just don't farm this mount. It's not worth it. There is a bajillion other serpents, some better colors etc. This one is just not worth the mental strain...
However, if you are crazy enough - use the approach above - but never ever camp it on a single character for single kills. Either go en masse or not at all.

Got mine after 190 kills. :D

Never ever farm for this with just 1 character (especially if you're uninformed and are waiting a whole hour for a respawn), it's a waste of time.

As other people have said, make alts (get them to level 40 --- 40s will easily be able to solo Huolon and they don't 1-shot, so it gives other people a chance too) or trial characters on other servers. After making a kill/logging in, check back 20 minutes later and Huolon should be up, so long as you have no competition.
Go big or go home, the more alts the better!

I just started playing WoW and i get it. I get the exhilaration of getting a rare mount drop. I was lucky to get it early on with around 10 kills, over the span of 2 days. This one will be the first of hopefully many more rare mounts!

Got the mount today after 55 kills in a few days of farming. In the process I discovered a very efficient method of farming kills by forcing Huolon (and all other Pandaria rares) to respawn in a shorter time than it should normally be able to, which I am sharing here. Blizzard will likely consider this an exploit so use at your own risk.

This method abuses how (I think) the sharding process works. When you enter an area (like Timeless Isle) the game looks for a shard to place you in that is valid for the combination of your server group, Chromie Time status, and War Mode selection. If it cannot find an active shard, it generates one, and you can tell when this occurs one of two ways: 1) if the game is generating a shard for you on log-in, the game will freeze on the initial load screen for up to 20-30 seconds, 2) if you're flying into an area like Timeless Isle you will not be dismounted and can get almost to Old Pi'ju before the game populates Timeless Isle with mobs and dismounts you. Timeless Isle and other Pandaria zones appear to function differently than later expansion zones in that when a new shard is generated, almost every rare is spawned. This works for all Pandaria zones and can be used to farm 15-20 Zandalari Warbringers per hour, but can also be used to get Huolon to respawn around every 20-30 minutes.

Where the abuse comes in is forcing the game to cull this shard after you kill Huolon. How this works is speculation on my part based on my CS knowledge, but my suspicion is that when you log out of a shard and empty it, there is a period of time in which it remains active in case anyone else enters the area, and after this period of time Blizzard culls the shard on the back end to save resources. Once this has occurred, if you log back in or anyone enters the area again, Blizzard has to regenerate a shard.

So, with the objective of forcing the game to generate shards for you, this is the process.

1.) Have a character at least level 40 on a low population server group. I used characters on RP realms Argent Dawn-US and one on Feathermoon-US. Select War Mode On. I was not in Chromie Time, because I wouldn't have been able to solo Huolon if it was scaled, but if you can then your choice is up to you. Being Level 40 will allow you to kill an unscaled Huolon easily, and War Mode is typically less populated.
2.) Fly your character to Timeless Isle. If you notice game lag as described above, it's virtually a certainty that you now have a Huolon spawn. Go up to the ridge and check, kill it if it's there.
3.) Log your character out. I'm not 100% certain how long you have to stay logged out, but I never logged back in before 20 minutes and it (usually) worked. If it doesn't work, it probably means another player entered the shard, and there's not much you can do about that. Just log out and try again.
4.) When you get a very long load screen (it will hang around fully loaded for at least 15-20 seconds) Huolon should be there when you enter the game. Rinse and repeat as many times as necessary.
5.) If you need Zandalari Warbringer mounts, you can alternately fly around Pandaria and kill them between Huolon kills. The Jade Forest one is the least likely to be there because Jade Forest is frequently generated by Horde and Alliance players fast travelling, but the Kun-Lai, Townlong Steppes, Dread Wastes, and Krasarang Warbringers were basically always there for me using this method.

The current reset timer for Isola Senza Tempo appears to be 15-minutes. This means if the zone has been empty for that amount time, that particular shard/layer will reset the moment you reenter the zone. This can be a highly effective method for farming rares for Qualcuno mi porti un carrello, opposed to the traditional camping method of every 30-60 minutes, especially on RP servers, War Mode and Chromie Time groups.
