This boss drops a pelt, a mount, Moon Moon the pet, and a transmog weapon. Nice, but not enough to me.

In case you're wondering where "Moon Moon" came from:

"Moon Moon is a fictional werewolf character that is portrayed as a mentally challenged outcast in the pack.
Origin

The character was originally conceived as an alter ago name for Tumblr user Kitchiki, who was given the name “Moon Moon” in an online forum game titled "What is Your Werewolf Name? (shown below). This "mount" drops from Zannastrale, the new world boss at the Darkmoon Faire.

Be aware that this is only a temporary mount and can only be used while the faire is active. Once the faire ends this mount will disappear from your bags.

Ok a few facts about this mount:

1. It cant be learned which means it takes up 1 bag space.
2. Its an account-wide mount.
3. It can be used outside of Darkmoon Faire but only when Darkmoon Faire is active (basically you can only use this mount one week per month).
4. When summoned it calls down a shaft of light from heavens on the location where player decided to mount.
5. The shaft of light stays on that area for 5 seconds.
6. The /mountspecial is this wolf howling similar to the boss

This Item is dropped by Zannastrale, the new boss on the Darkmoon Island.

Remember that Pietraluna Scintillante is not learnable, it's just an item you keep in your inventory. It will disappear as soon as the Darkmoon Faire is over.

He can also dropp
Zannina (which makes this boss a very interesting thing for all enthusiastic pet hunters)

Quite disappointed.
- Not learned as mount but it's another item (like there weren't enough vanity items in MoP already)
- Can be used only during darkmoon faire
- And on top of that (assuming it's true, haven't heard confirmation on that) the item is destroyed, so you need to loot it again on the next faire

I'd have accepted if it was a learned mount that you could've used only during the faire, but the way it is now it's really a disappointing item

Nice mount. Wish it were added to the journal and only useable during Darkmoon Fair. Bag space freed up is nice.

I have seen people saying that the item will be destroyed, but there isn't any proof yet.

Like the broom during the Halloween event, that has a timer on it counting down to when it's destroyed, I think this item may not be destroyed since it has no timer.

Guess we will see at the end of this fair.

This "Mount" is dropped by Zannastrale. It's only usable during Darkmoon Faire and will disappear from your bag when DMF is over.

I find it rather intresting about the "mount"
here in wowhead it says this

but in game it says only useble while darkmon is on and soulbound not account bound

is it to hard to have the same intel on two places becouse this is very confusing.

or is this just a ingame bug that the mount is not learnble / account wide yet?

Now the Darkmoon Faire has left these shores... the Shimmering Moonstone I looted has gone.

A shame, as it means those who want one will have to farm one each month.

Contrary to what others kept saying during Darkmoon week - Pietraluna Scintillante DISAPPEARS after Darkmoon Faire is over, from your bags and from your bank (I had 2 of them to test, both disappeared).

I confirmed with a customer rep that the Shimmering Moonstone DOES completely disappear when the Faire ends. Hope that clears some stuff up for everyone!

So, it's currently April 19th, and I was doing my weekly Rukhmar kill, when I notice a hunter next to me, riding Moonfang. I hover over, and it does indeed say "moonfang" on the buff. I ask him how he's riding her in the middle of the month. He says he's been "collecting" the shimmer moonstones, and has 47 of them in his mailbox... He told me if you don't loot the body, the item goes into your mail. Says he kills her like 100 times per DMF and then he just takes one stone from his mail and rides it around when ever he wants, says it lasts till he logs out.

interesting information, though i'm sure it's probably considered an exploit.
