This set is another one of those sets with an insanely low drop rate. Even though it's not a <Random Enchantment> set. Mobs that drop the pieces seem to be in the mid to high 40 range, but most of them are well under 0.1% drop rate. So if you're looking for them, you'll be better off farming the AH than killing mobs.

My general rule of thumb is to check the AH every time you log in or are about to log out (or any time you are at the AH for other reasons). Just search "Blackforge" and anything in the set will show up. It only takes a few seconds to do...the trick is to keep remembering to do it!

WARNING: prices may be sky-high if the seller knows that they are very rare pieces. Than again, they may be less than 20g if they're not thinking about Transmog. Sadly, I imagine most of the time they get vendored without a second thought :(

Note that the Pantaloni di Scaglie di Mithril are easy to obtain via Blacksmithing and that the Bracers are not really required as Gloves cover them.

I acquired all the Blackforge items from around 15 complete runs of Stratholme, the Main Gate side (Formerly known as the Scarlet side). Your mileage may vary. Wierdly the parts of the set dropped on 3 consecutive runs, as if the game decided it wanted to spit out all the Blackforge drops after a dozen runs of nothing. It could just be a coincidence. After that many runs your mind starts playing tricks on you.

If you are going to farm Stratholme for this set, ensure you have about 60 bag slots free for a complete run or be prepared to throw stuff from your bags. You can expect to find around 3 to 7 BOE greens each full run and you'll want to save ALL of these, even if they aren't the Blackforge set, because many items are part of other desirable transmog sets with similarly low drop rates. Kill and loot EVERYTHING, even the skeleton mobs that spawn in the corridors after you've downed Balnazzar and the Argents arrive.

The Spalletti della Roccaforte d'Ebano are a decent looking alternative for the shoulder which matches the dark colours of the belt, boots and gloves. The drop rate is probably as bad as the Blackforge mail, so farm whichever you prefer.

This set uses the Black variant of the "C1 Mail" artwork and forms a complete seven-piece set of the art.

There's actually no artwork for a helm in this set. So while there's a "Blackforge Cowl" it uses unrelated art and so isn't included here. Just pick whatever you think goes as there are no headpieces designed to match.

In addition to the listed pieces, there are others that belong in this set:

Shoulders: Paraspalle della Stirpe Nera, Paraspalle di Maglia Abissale, Spallacci Foderati della Milizia di Stratholme, Paraspalle del Frammento Roccioso
Wrists: Bracciali di Scaglie di Mithril are a different model to the Blackforge Bracers. They use sleeve art. They'd probably be hidden anyway.
Waist: Cintura d'Argento dei Defias
Feet: Stivali della Sconfitta

There are three other standard colours of this set in the artwork database, and also three modified colours that were designed for certain NPCs. All have at least have one piece available in the game, but only two exist as complete sets. See:

Gold: Blackforge Mail (Recolor)
Silver: Blackforge Mail (Recolor)
Copper: no transmog page, just chest, shoulders and gloves. See this link for appearance and list of pieces. The colour scheme is very much like the Gold variant, except pinkish copper where the other set is yellow
Deathguard: a modified set in black, grey and purple with a chest that looks like cloth. Can be seen on Guardiamorte Abraham et al. The only available pieces I know of are gloves, Guanti Lunghi di Fatuacciaio, and boots, Schinieri di Maglia Abissali
Dreadguard: a modified set in blood red and maroon, with a chest that looks like cloth and quite different bracers, gloves and boots. Can be seen on Guardia Reale del Terrore. The only available piece I'm aware of is Schinieri della Disperazione Inaridita
Night watch: a modified set in a red-brown. Can be seen on Guardiano della Notte. I'm only aware of one available piece: Cintura da Guerra di Garneg

Ironscale Warcloak From Rokmar the Crackler in Slave pens. Nice Black color. Matches up very well.

Anyone know of a polearm that looks good with this? Picca del GeloLooks like it had the right color but I'm not seeing much else. Suggestions?

Very nice set! I think Cappa Formidabile goes very well with this set. As well as Infila Aghi.
