If you're Alliance, the only trainer you can go to for polearms is Woo Ping in Stormwind

Polearms are most of the time designed for Hunters and Feral Druids. In the past these weapons were also designed for warriors and retribution paladins but those classes have swung over to swords, axes and maces.

Some famous Polearms are:
Ice Barbed Spear
Oathbined, Charge of the Ranger-General
Shadowstrike
Thunderstrike
Monstrous Glaive

Up until recently no class would have a clear use for Monstrous Glaive except for Feral Druids. But the fun part is, they can't parry and only since recently have the ability to wear polearms.

More and more of these weirdly itemized polearms exist, including some that are amazingly fast a have a chance to proc while having agility (the speed and agility suggest it's for a hunter, but the proc suggest it's for a melee!)
