So, apparently these Dracthyr are creations of the black dragonflight boss, Neltharion the Earthwarden, who later became Deathwing.

Not much appears to be known about the creation process itself, but one would imagine that Neltharion either recreated the race in the imagine of his own, and that of his peers, or actively experimenting on gene splicing, or test-tubes or some kind of Frankenstein psuedo-science @#$%. Regardless, somehow these little buggers were created, and they are acutely tired to their like-coloured kin. Naming them appropriately, similar to the other dragon-flight side-families already seen in game, should be a given.

And yet; why the actual F has Blizzard not kept with the established lore in this case?

The Alliance branch.

Technically they can be of any colour, but one would suppose the prominent version would appear to be blue, given their leader is Scale Commander Azurathel. This is fine, since also suits the Alliance scum colours.

Blue dragonflight names end in either mi for female, or mu from male. Yet the Alliance leader has been given what is somewheat reminiscent of a Pokemon name - "Azurathel. He's blue, and has Azure in his name. i see what you did there. Oh, ho, ho ==

It's not even hard, Blizzard. You could have even just switched out the suffix for "Azuramu"

The Horde Branch

Technically they can be of any colour, but one would suppose the prominent version would appear to be red, given their leader is Scale Commander Cindrethresh, a female red Drakthyr. This is fine since this also suits the Horde colours.

Red dragonflight names end in either asz for male, or asza for female. Yet the Horde leader has also been given a Pokemon trope name with the laughable "Cindrethresh" Becauses she's red, and fire is red and cinders are from fire. Congrats, your pokemon is evolving.

Again, simply "Cindreasza" would have been better. At least it matches the established lore.

Incidentally, other NPC names aren't nearly as cringe, but none of them appear to have the appropriate suffix for their associated dragonflight kinship. Instead they sound like they were named by some eight year old Pokemon fangirl.

I suspect that Dracthyr may be single-gendered or incapable of reproducing.

My evidence for this is as follows:
1 Neltharion was concerned about controlling the Dracthyr, so placing a lock on their ability to reproduce would make sense.
2 The male and female Dracthyr offer no real noticeable differences in appearance (excluding visage which is really just an illusion and so the gender of it can be misleading). I realize that many animal species don't have very noticeable differences in appearance and so it doesn't hold much weight.
3 There are no Dracthyr children.
4 The Dracthyr can only be Evokers as they were trained/raised for that role. If they had children after gaining freedom, those children could grow and train as any other class after having joined the Horde/Alliance. So we'd be able to make Dracthyr as other classes if that were so, but we cannot.
5 The Dracthyr population is perhaps the lowest of all the races (due to the fact that players can only have 1 and are limited to 1 class, their population is really low to the player base too)

Yes, this is tongue-in-cheek. One of the many things that go through my head while I try to sleep at night. Thought I'd share it.
