have done this myself, so I can say with 100% confidence that this quest CAN be done by all of the people in your party at once.

The setup for this quest is just plain dumb, and desperately needs to be reworked. Basically the way this quest works is you have to talk to Belnistrasz a couple of times (at least twice), and he eventually will offer you the quest Extinguishing the Idol, when you accept this final quest from him, the escort process begins. At this point, everyone in your party that talked to Belnistrasz up until the point where he was offering them the chance to accept the Extinguishing the Idol quest (but have not actually accepted the quest) will be given the typical "X has started an escort quest would you like to join? Yes or No" option. Anyone who has not, will not get credit for the quest.

What typically happens when playing through RFD is that someone in your party will click through all of the dialogue boxes with Belnistraz before anyone else has had a chance to talk with him, the quest will begin, and they will be the only one to earn credit for it. If this happens, just let that party member go and try to complete it on their own. That sounds completely fair to me.

Make sure that before you get to this part of the dungeon you warn your party about what is going to happen in regards to accepting this quest. Then have each member talk to Belnistrasz, and ask them "Does it say Extinguishing the Idol" at the top of the quest description. If the answer is no, then tell them to select "accept" or "continue". If the answer is yes, then tell them to hit "decline" and wait for everyone else to go through this process. Once everyone in your party can talk to Belnistrasz and have "Extinguishing the Idol" pop up, accept the quest.

If you happen to die right after the quest is complete you can still run back in and finish it. Belnistrasz's Brazier will not despawn as long as the instance is active.

Not fun to farm.

I've got a 60 Warrior with many Epic items when I tried this quest. First make sure you clear all of the mobs in the zone or at least from the Murder Pens to the Idol because the guy doesn't help to fight, he'll just keep walking when attacked.

When he starts his thing mobs will start spawn. Normally two elite mobs 37-40 with a couple 37-39 normal mobs. They come in waves, but they don't wait until the first wave is down, they just keep coming after a few minutes.

If you don't have a way to heal yourself it can be painful. I do believe you'll see 5 or 6 waves of mobs including a named mob at the end. - Plaguerot who is normally a lvl 40 elite.

So all in all, with a good group this would be easier & fun to do. If solo & farming make sure you're able to heal mid fight.

I have done this quest on 5 different characters in the past month or so, and it's been BUGGED every time. The good news is, you can still complete it if you wipe.

The problem can be seen in your quest log. After accepting the quest (and Belnistrasz BOOKS it so fast you barely have time to chase after him), check your quest log. Mine said "Protect Belnistrasz while he performs the ritual to shut down the idol" TWICE in the quest log.

If you see this message TWICE in the quest log, that means there is going to be a MASSIVE spawn of DOUBLE mobs. Even with this quest being green to me, I still wiped. Just sit there if you die and don't release - the mobs don't attack Belnistrasz at all and you will get a (Completed) even while you're dead.

Release, make the long corpse run back, and re-clear all the way back to the wipe location. You can then clear out the mobs single pull at a time and complete the quest by clicking the brazier.

Got roughly 3-5 bars of XP from it hen 5500 xp from turning it in at level 40 Rather easy also GL

BUT, if you don't complete the first part in time, you're party will complete it and he (The NPC) will dash off. From then you cannot turn in the first quest till your teamates are done with the next quest.
It sucks, and its happened to me.

Dont try this solo at 70 if you haven't cleared the route. The NPC will not stop running and you will pull hundreds of mobs. I know cos I just died trying to do it.

Although you may find RFD easy to solo say in the high 40s (was doing it ok as a 48 Warlock), you should not try this quest until much higher, the reason is that Belnistrasz simply doesn't stop and there are no down periods for OOC regen.

When he starts, he runs to the furnace thing, he will fight packs if they are in the way but as soon as they are dead he just runs again with no time for regen, often going into new packs while you are still on low health / mana.

When he starts to channel, a pack appears, 2 battle boars, geomancer and 3 of the small boars, this repeats as soon as he says "3 minutes left", "2 minutes left" and I assume at 1 as well but was dead by then.

These packs do not despawn so are waiting there if you res meaning a large number of people to kill just to clear before you restart. Although the quest needs L32 with a group it would be fine, but I would recommend L50+ before trying it solo.

If you happen to fail the quest (i.e. Belnistrasz dies), he will respawn in a couple of minutes, unlike other instance escort quest givers.

STILL broken..

I did this with a multiboxing party of 5, using the addon Jamba and mouse broadcasting, which means all toons click on quest buttons at the same time, and they will all automatically accept any escort quests started by any other member of the party.

I did the first part on all toons, where he gives you an item.

I turned the item in, and went through the quest text up until the final 'accept' button appeared.

I clicked that button simultaneously on all characters.

'Quest accepted' showed for them all in the chat windows (and in their logs when I checked after the event), but when the brazier showed up, only one of them could turn the quest in.

Still true as of today, over 6 years later.

Every time I run that dungeon on an alt I silently pray the group will not notice that exclamation mark and go straight for the skelleton boss.

Near the entrance is an idol that functions as a macabre oven for the Quilboar; the beasts... they literally consume their abductees from the Barrens. I can shut down the idol and bind them from using it again, but I need your aid in doing so. My plan: escort me to the idol. Once we arrive, I'll commence the ritual. I'll barely be able to communicate with you, let alone defend myself. Protect me while I shut down the idol. If they take me down, then it's all over for us.
