I always assumed "attacks" when mentioned on an item referred exclusively to melee attacks, but since I got this as a mage I'm not so sure. Does it include spells or not?

This trinket does apply the effect on Spell hit, as well as physical hits. The 30 second ICD seems correct as well.

Your tool text says 4839 damage every 1.5 sec, and the armory says 147 damage. I would assume just an armory error?

The effect CAN crit.

This trinket is not enhanced by an assassination rogue's mastery.

For those too lazy to do the math, it's 16924 damage over 6 seconds.

Scales with Enhancement Shaman mastery. Mine proc does 21264 total dmg with no crits with 40,90% mastery

Not sure if it scales with Survival Hunter's mastery but it may.
It did 14,104 damage total in Beast Mastery, and did 15,712 with Survival, at around 440~ item level.

Survival Hunter's Mastery does not appear to have an effect on this trinkets proc. Dealt 4094 a tick, total of just over 16k damage, with 18% mastery. Did not try as BM/Marksman to compare numbers, however the trinkets base damage is 16k total and it would be expected to deal 19k damage with 18% mastery.

Sadly, Dirty Tricks does not work with this: the poison applied still breaks Gouge (and I assume, Blind), despite the talent.

(This is in line with thecityalive's discovery and Sarks' logic above - rogue talents only apply to "their own" poisons, which this is apparently not. Even though it's coming from one of your own items... *grumble* *grumble*)

It's a real shame for undead rogues in particular - what more appropriate trinket for us than one that uses harvested dead body parts to poison enemies?
